$100. My friend wanted to attend a class with his landlord's wife (he was having a hard time finding employment), so I loaned him the money. He never paid it back, and he's a terrible credit risk to this day. I let it slide since I was making good enough money to absorb the loss.

I get my apartment tomorrow. I should really pack my stuff, but I'm having a lot of trouble cleaning up all of the garbage I've accumulated over the years (and by garbage I mean stuff I haven't touched in years, mail including credit card offers I needed to shred but never did, stuff like that).

I'd hoped to be completely moved by Monday. With all the stuff to go through, I'm not sure if that's even possible. It's a lot more tiring than I'd expected.
TopicIf a job started giving you real bad physical pain should you quit?
Uglyface2
07/31/19 1:13:45 AM

That depends.

1. Is this job good enough to warrant trying to find a workaround?

2. If yes, then is there something that can be done to mitigate the pain?

If the answer to either of those answers is no, then your friend should find another job. If the answers to both are yes, then go for the workaround.

Example: One year, I got seasonal work at Macy's as a stockroom associate. Walking on concrete for long periods hurt so bad that I could barely walk at the end of the day. I needed that job, so my workaround was buying Dr. Scholl's shoe inserts. Saved my feet.

I've been trying to stop watching porn (one week so far), but when I was watching, yes, occasionally. They can draw stuff that would cost a fortune in the real world, they can give you a much better likeness of certain characters than you could hire (there's a Tifa one that you'd have no problem finding), and you can get angles that wouldn't happen in real life.

I have no strong feelings either way, but having just played Ni No Kuni 2, I can say that well-developed protagonists can tell stories that silent protagonists can't. That said, I also played Dragon Quest 11 this year and enjoyed it so much that I platinumed the thing.

I suppose it's the approach to the story that makes a difference. Ni No Kuni 2 was largely character driven, while Dragon Quest 11 was more event driven.

While PS3 had better support for older games through the PSN Store, PS4 has had a lot of remasters that I've had a good time playing. Also, the advance of game design means that developers have generally learned their lessons on what works well so PS4 games have that experience behind them.

When I finally got my own place, it was only a mile down the street from my parents' house, so I never felt too rushed to complete the move, and that helped a ton.

Google says it's around 5 miles north of where I am now. It's not far, but it's much closer to work and I won't have to deal with lousy traffic created by bad land management.

I move out of my parents' house next Thursday. Tomorrow is trash day, so I've been making an effort to clear my stuff out of the attic. I knew I had a lot of stuff from a long time ago, I just didn't know it was THAT much.

Also, climbing up and down a steep set of wooden fold-out stairs sucks, as does walking hunched over and carrying objects to the hole with the fold-out stairs.

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords

Such a rage-inducing game, too. Until you get some game-breaking powers, you're at the mercy of a computer that (as near as I can tell) can read a few lines above the visible playfield. I've had circumstances where I've had one move left and deliberately took damage by making a false move, forcing the computer to take that one move and set up a giant combo for me.

I tried to get back into Revelations, but that game is bad. I'm at a point where the game raised the Templar awareness to full, spawns guard groups including Janissaries everywhere, and seemingly rid itself of ways to reduce the awareness. Janissaries are not fun to fight in the slightest; they dodge everything, they survive counters, and they can shoot you from offscreen (and the camera seems to take great delight in making sure you don't see it happen).

Frankly, I haven't been this angry at a game in years. This game had design flaws that wouldn't fly by today's standards. I'm hoping that I'm near the end so I can put this game behind me.

McDonald's actually provides a few small benefits for their employees (free food, some places offer discounts on shopping), you get privacy during your off hours (you get none in jail), and there are ways to get discounted medical treatment if you happen to live near a hospital (I know this firsthand from my time being unemployed).
