TommyG663513

I've been in a union for five years now. I'm a Teamster. Overall and for the vast majority of workers a union is better than not. I mean, my union is very corrupt and I'd easily still pick them over my employer. A corrupt union will never be as corrupt as a corporation.

When you work in a union, there is no incentive to work especially hard. I just aim to be mediocre. My wage (and everyone's) is based purely on years worked at the company. Just survive another year to get a raise. Don't bust your ass. Just get the job done.

I get full health insurance at no direct cost to me beyond being employed at this company. My union dues are only $40/month. That alone is all you need to know to realize my union dues are extremely worth it.

There really is no reason to be against unions beyond ignorance or placing a very high value on corporate profits over worker rights. There are certainly some cons to workers by working in a union, but the pros outweigh that pretty significantly.

People complain of lazy workers getting to keep their jobs, but that also means your job is very safe.

Oh there are people within gay communities that take aspects of homosexuality to toxic extremes too.

I would know as a gay person who's both seen and dealt with it. There definitely is such a thing as gay people behaving toxic towards each other within the context of homosexuality. It's like taking "YAAS QUEEN" to the extreme and pissing all over your peers to come out as the sassiest, most in-your-face unapologetic egomaniac who's actions scream "acts big to hide the emotional compensation".

It totally does exist, there's just not a commonly coined term for it.
Any gay person who struts around acting like top bitch towards everyone is typically a poster child for it...

So basically anyone whomsays "YAAASSS QUEEN."

I'm bisexual and have spent a lot of time in gay bars to know that the majority of the people who go to gay bars tend to be pretty toxic in a wide sense. At least, the more clubish gay bars. Not every gay bar is a dance club.

Theyre just jealous the childless couples have way more fun. Ive gone with my husband and we hit every single ride because we used their fast pass app and easily walked around the park and skipped the lines and all the parents with their screaming kids.

I dont understand parents who bring babies and small toddlers. Theyre too young to remember or appreciate the experience and theyre stuck all day lugging them around while they cry and scream.

How did you afford it? I went to cedar point and the fast pass costed more than the actual ticket!

Disney gives a select number of fast passes to each guest. I believe when I went I got three fast passes. They only give away so many fast passes per ride per day so you may have to book fast passes days or weeks in advance for the super popular attractions. So you need to be strategic when using them. Basically, don't waste one of your fast passes on a ride that rarely gets above a 20 minute wait.

Toxic homosexuality is a thing, but more of a tangent to the topic at hand. It still relates in the sense that within homosexual groups there tends to be their own gender norms.

Probably soft in public room, and solo porn in private paid and tipped rooms

Im gonna be dedicating two hours a day to this. Every night at 8pm PST or something idk

As for it haunting me, I dont think so. I have no personal qualms or moral issues with camming. And I can block out specific states from seeing my account.

You best believe my states gonna be blocked lol

That said, bisexuals that mainly identify as straight and suffer none of the discrimination that gay people do, and just sort of dip their toes in occassionally to get laid...nothing wrong with that, but don't act like you're down with the struggles either.

That's my take for whatever it is worth.

Back when I was still more closeted with it there is still always the fear of getting outed. I had that issue due to someone not being able to keep tgeir mouth shut. Had more tha one person come up asking about and everything about their tone of voice down to their body language screamed they where ready to fight me over it.

That sucks man, and I'm not excusing it.

I was mainly talking about people that live that straight life but then just occasionally bang a dude for fun. I don't think those people typically deal with all of the same problems that being an out and about gay person does, but I could be wrong.

I just don't think it is your right to draw distinctions like that. Let people live their lives. You won't know the entirety of someone's experience like you've laid out. Bi people can express it how they see fit.

I shared a bed with my sister, Grace, until I was seventeen years old. She was afraid to sleep alone and would begin asking me around 5:00 P.M. every day whether she could sleep with me. I put on a big show of saying no, taking pleasure in watching her beg and sulk, but eventually I always relented. Her sticky, muscly little body thrashed beside me every night as I read Anne Sexton, watched reruns of SNL, sometimes even as I slipped my hand into my underwear to figure some stuff out,

Also

As [Grace] grew, I took to bribing her for her time and affection: one dollar in quarters if I could do her makeup like a "motorcycle chick." Three pieces of candy if I could kiss her on the lips for five seconds. Whatever she wanted to watch on TV if she would just "relax on me." Basically, anything a sexual predator might do to woo a small suburban girl I was trying ... What I really wanted, beyond affection, was to feel that she needed me, that she was helpless without her big sister leading her through the world. I took a perverse pleasure in delivering bad news to her -- the death of our grandfather, a fire across the street -- hoping that her fear would drive her into my arms, would make her trust me.

Like I'm not the only one reading the part where she directly compares herself to a sexual predator right?

That sentence really seems to stand out among a noteworthy paragraph.

I think it's weird to dedicate a paragraph to defending people who fly into this mra rage over female characters having politics in a film and then say that these politics are part of the bigger picture anyway and are in no way presented uncritically or held up on a pedestal.

No I meant these politics are a part of the bigger picture in why I disliked these characters and the film as a whole. The fact that these traits and beliefs of the main characters is not presented as flawless doesn't fix that for me. I still didn't find them all that likable by the end when growth had occurred.

If you thought I was defending mra rage then you're very much misunderstanding me. I'm telling you that you do a disservice by labeling things in such a way instead of listening.

I agree with the politics of the film, but I don't like the way they presented it. I found it a bit ham fisted and annoying. That isn't an mra attitude. I don't have to like every single big left wing culture war movie. I like some and dislike others. It depends on all sorts of things.

I haven't seen eighth grade (my gf bought tickets for vox lux instead!) but it's something I want to see.

It is definitely very cartoonish but I liked that sort of absurdity when contrasted with more down to earth stuff like the scene where they discover what colleges everybody is going to. It struck a good balance where needed between silly and serious, awkward and sweet, leaning into tropes and turning them on their head etc.

And yeah the main characters are obviously feminists but the flaws in their characters are readily apparent too. It's not like its uncritically a list of things you should and should not do. Tbh I would be very sceptical of anybody who let's the politics of the main characters in this put them off it....

Please don't be skeptical of anybody who lets the politics of the main characters put them off the movie. It is a movie. Let people dislike it for whayever reason without giving them some weird judgment. I'm a very left leaning person politically and I'm just sick of seeing politics infect everything. It's like I get it. We habe an awful president and these are weird times. I feel like these movies are just preaching to the choir. We don't all want to participate in the echo chamber. I don't want much in the way of political anything for the movies I watch and that is my right to have a preference as is yours.

The main characters being big feminists was just part of the big picture. They lived too within themselves and their weird codependent relationship. They both have this self righteous tone to themselves, but fail to realize how flawed they are for such a long time which is basically another huge flaw in and of itself. They both lack a lot of awareness. They're both building each other up in a way that is just too much. It is great to be very supportive of your friends, but they were on some weird level with it.

Just everything in this film is just so over the top.

Hey remember when the class President main character shows off her morning ritual? The ome where she listens to some weird voice recording like a prayer or meditation that ends with saying "f the haters." Then there were shots of an Elizabeth Warren pictire and other feminist symbols scattered around along with a bumper sticker displaying themselves as proud nasty women? It was all just a bit too much. They needed to tone down these characters.

what the fuck is this topic

TC isn't wrong. There's actually a surprising amount of dislike towards male bisexuals. A lot of straight women won't fuck a guy who has fucked guys. And the gay community has had issues with bisexuals for years. It's pretty well known

Yeah it's part of the reason why I'll be there for supporting equal rights and what not but other wise dont want shit to do with the "community" for their alleged inclusiveness they are just as divisive as any other group of people.

Trans people have it just as bad if not worse than bis though from what ive seen.

Yeah this is a thing that doesn't get discussed enough. Being an LGBT or a racial minority for that matter doesn't mean you can't be discriminatory or any other variation of stupid. This can reflect in the groups that people form and not all of them are good. People are still people and that meams a variation among people for both the good and bad traits they possess.

Some gay people are truly abhorrent and some straight people are pretty amazing and vice versa and everything in between.

I honestly didn't like it at all. The problem is I just didn't find it funny at all and I didn't like any of the characters. Maybe I'm too old at this point (29), but I found many of the characters incredibly immature and saying tgings I can't imagine anyone really saying. It is a very cartoony and exaggerated version of a modern high school.

Conversely, I absolutely adored the movie Eighth Grade and think it was a far superior film that made me laugh many times as well as a very wide range of emotions. That movie felt extremely real like it could have just been a real thing that happened.

anything with women in starring roles = SJW!!!

I mean, both main characters were clearly pretty strongly feminist leaning. To counter this, they're both also depicted as being kind of uptight and lame. The entire movie is about them learning to loosen up a bit, but the movie lost me very early on. I found the girls way too annoying from the get go and didn't find their growth to be satisfying enough.

There was that one scene where they talked about the skater girl having a non conforming gender distinction, but that doesn't mean she must be a lesbian as well. It felt like a weird lecture.

The movie doesnt exactly slap you in the face with it, but it clearly appeals much more to the very left leaning demographic. It is definitely a movie that checks a lot of those boxes.

Another thing I didn't like was how long it took them to finally get to the party and all the convoluted BS that kept them from getting there for so long. It just seemed so artificial or these two girls really were that dumb. The movie picked up a bit at the party, but that was so late in the film so basically too little too late.

I also wish the movie would have deviated a bit more from SuperBad. The whole plot is a day of high school then trying to get to a party amd pretend you're cool.

I will admit that SuperBad came out my senior year of high school so that may be a big reason why I was able to connect with it more.

As a bisexual male, I mostly agree.

Opinions on this are a bit more varied and nuanced than you've stated, but you got the gist down.

Honestly, I tend to less accepted among gay people than straight people. Gay people tend to be more concerned with labels and distinctions. Straight people tend to assume everyone is straight and don't act differently.

I would just try to date men or women and not reveal my sexuality till we got mildly serious. People on either side tend to assume either hetero or homo among people they are dating.

I have to admit, as a bisexual person I almost asdume or look for clues that someone else is bisexual. It's like you tend to look at others through your own lens.

Yeah I know lol, but it is a comfort thing. Started visiting this site when I was 8 for cheat codes and I haven't really looked back.

It certainly is a weird place, but it feels like home.
