An HIV-positive Tennessee man avoided trial this week after admitting to having unprotected sex with an underage dance student, who has since been diagnosed with the virus. Authorities said John Conner III met the victim on a social media website in 2015 when the boy was only 16 years old and the pair began a sexual relationship, which is legally considered statutory rape. Conner, who was 26 at the time, eventually recruited the victim to his Memphis-based dance team, the Infamous Dancerettes, and the relationship continued with the frequent exchange of text messages, some of which included details about their sexual activity and even nude photos, the Shelby County District Attorneys Office said Tuesday in a news release. But the suspect, authorities said, never told the teen he had been diagnosed with HIV in 2012. In August 2016, months after their relationship began, the victim told his parents he had had sex with his dance coach and thought he should be tested for HIV because he heard Conner had the virus, according to the release. The test came back positive.

The teacher, who was scheduled to go to trial this week, reversed his decision and pleaded guilty to felony charges of criminal exposure to HIV, statutory rape by an authority figure and solicitation of a minor. Hes scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 20. Authorities said Conner has two other pending cases involving sexual partners who were 17 and 24.

Kanye West's appearance and performance at Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church was one of the biggest Christian events in recent memory, with streaming numbers that shattered records. Kanye's Sunday night service was broadcast across 4 Lakewood-related platforms on Facebook and YouTube with 4.17 million unique viewers total. We're told by comparison, Joel's Sunday morning service usually pulls between 700k and 1.3 million sets of eyeballs. People in Christian circles tell us the Kanye collab was one of the biggest faith-fueled events in recent history ... and the effects are still being felt around the community. It's unclear if any future Ye appearances at Lakewood are currently in the works at this point, but considering how successful this first-go was ... ya gotta imagine the powers that be are thinking about it.

Im afraid that for a few years now, I have felt that since I am apparently not allowed to own the work that I created in the same manner that an author in a more grown-up and worthwhile field might expect to do, and since my protests at having my work stolen from me are interpreted by a surely young-at-heart and non-unionised audience as evidence of my grouchiness and cantankerousness, then the only active position that is left to me is to disown the works in question.

Just when we thought weve heard the most bizarre news surrounding the popular fast food snackfrom someone being murdered while standing on line, a worker body-slamming a 55-year old woman and another woman who crashed her luxury vehicle in a drive-thrucomes more crazyment. A Texas man is now out of a job for making the decision to bring his young son to work in effort to help out overworked staffers during the frenzy that continues to ensue around the crispy, crunchy menu item. According to Inside Edition, a child was photographed helping prepare the insanely popular Popeyes chicken sandwich in a restaurant in The Colony, Texas, near Dallas. The boy, who was wearing an apron and sneakers, is said to have been about 8 years old and no taller than four feet tall. The customer who snapped the video told the outlet the franchise location was packed and the staff struggled to keep up with the chicken sandwich orders. [He] was working with the flour that they cook the chicken in It looked like he was working hard, she told Les Trent. Its against federal and state child labor laws to have a minor working. A Popeyes rep said, the restaurant owner has terminated the employee who brought their child, a minor, into the kitchen.

The sandwich, which gained traction earlier this summer after engaging in a social media war with other fast-food competitors, returned back to the market on Nov. 4 after selling out of its inventory in August. Now, it seems to have caused more mayhem than ever. In addition to the aforementioned series of unfortunate incidents, seven employees at a Milwaukee Popeyes (including the manager on duty) were fired after engaging in a wild brawl with one another on last Wednesday. A few days earlier in a drive-thru near San Diego, two couples threw hands and various other things while waiting more than an hour for the sandwich. Who waits in a line for over an hour for something they have to pay for?

A teenage girl fatally stabbed on a Queens streetcorner was an aspiring FBI agent determined to find justice for her slain 14-year-old cousin, who was killed by a stray bullet just three weeks ago, relatives said Sunday. Talasia Cuffie, 17, bled to death after she was stabbed multiple times on the sidewalk of 166th St. near Foch Blvd. in South Jamaica about 10 p.m. on Friday. Her cousin, 14-year-old Aamir Griffin, was slain by a stray slug while playing basketball outside the Baisley Park Houses in South Jamaica just three blocks from where Talasia was killed on Oct. 26. Police believe an ongoing gang war Aamir had no involvement in provoked the wild gunfire. Family members of the tight-knit teens told the Daily News they worry the killings are related, though police have yet to determine if there is a connection between the two deaths. They need to find the person who did it," said Trevor Mendez, 26, a cousin of the tragic pair. Aamir was her godbrother. She was devastated when he died, and she wanted to find answers." She was determined to find out who killed him, he added.

Family and friends said Talasia served as a positive role model to younger kids in her community. Talasia was good-hearted. She was always there for people and very friendly. She always took care of family, said Sean White, whose two daughters often played with Talasia. She was planning to go to college. Its crazy this happened. I cant believe it. Im shocked. She was a good role model.

A 31-year veteran Seattle Police Department captain was arrested by his fellow officers during a vice sting late Wednesday, in an investigation of sexual exploitation. According to several sources, 53-year-old veteran Seattle police captain Randal Woolery offered $40 to an undercover officer who was posing as a prostitute, and he was arrested on the spot. Woolery was one of five men arrested in the Aurora sting, and according to jail records, he was booked and released in less than 30 minutes. Woolery works in SPD's Professional Standards Bureau, where he reviews officers' use of force. Woolery was also elected as a Fire Commissioner in Snohomish County Fire District 7, which manages eight fire departments. A spokesperson with the District directed questions to Seattle police. Sources within the department told KIRO-7 Woolery was highly regarded as a role-model of professionalism and was honored recently with an award for being an inspirational leader.

Federal prosecutors offered a plea deal to two correctional officers responsible for guarding Jeffrey Epstein on the night of his death, but the officers have declined the offer, people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. The existence of the plea offer signals the Justice Department is considering criminal charges in connection with the wealthy financiers death at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York in August. The citys medical examiner ruled Epsteins death a suicide. The guards on Epsteins unit are suspected of failing to check on him every half hour, as required, and of fabricating log entries to show they had. As part of the proposed plea deal, prosecutors wanted the guards to admit they falsified the prison records, according to the people familiar with the matter.

Falsification of records has been a problem throughout the federal prison system. Kathleen Hawk Sawyer, who was named director of the Bureau of Prisons after Epsteins death, disclosed in a Nov. 4 internal memo that a review of operations across the agency found some staff members failed to perform required rounds and inmate counts but logged that they had done so anyway. Falsification of information in government systems and documents is also a violation of policy, and may be subject to criminal prosecution as well, Hawk Sawyer wrote in the memo to top prison officials, a copy of which was obtained by the AP. The memo also noted that staff members who are indicted by a grand jury will be placed on an indefinite, unpaid suspension until the resolution of the criminal case.

Schools shouldn't have metal detectors. I hear banning guns would be dystopian, but so would metal detectors and armed guards patrolling the floors of every building. I'd rather take my chances. Mass shootings are something that needs to be addressed, but not in a "threat around every corner" type of way. I really wish we were apathetic about guns again.

For many students in the US they already live like this. They got to take off their belts, keys, earrings to go through metal detectors and have their bag checked before going to school. Their schools aren't being shot up. Gun control aint happening. The same debates keep happening after every school shooting and nothing changes. Metal detectors prevent schools from being shot up so more should have them.

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/NYPD-Officers-Seen-on-Video-Arresting-Candy-Vendor-at-Harlem-Subway-Station--564903932.html

Police in Harlem pinned down and arrested a man they say was illegally selling candy on a subway platform, video shows. The four officers were seen in cellphone video holding the man down on the subway platform for the 4/5/6 trains on 125th Street and Lexington Avenue around 7 p.m. Tuesday. Police said they had asked Byron Shark for his ID several times, but he refused. When the officers tried to arrest him for peddling the subway sweets on the northbound platform, they said he resisted, forcing them to bring him to the ground which is when witnesses started recording the incident. Shark has been arrested eight times since 2013, police said, for charges including criminal possession of a weapon, assault and menacing with a weapon. The incident comes after two unlicensed churro vendors were removed from Brooklyn subway stations and issued summonses this week, in what critics are calling an over-policing of the subways. At a rally held Wednesday in Brooklyn, advocates accused the NYPD of too strictly enforcing laws that arent essential, and want police to focus their efforts elsewhere.

The MTA bans the sale of food inside subway stations unless vendors have a permit. The NYPD says they have received numerous complaints of vendors without permits, prompting health concerns. However, the widely publicized recent incidents have raised questions regarding police strategies in the New York City subways. In October, the NYPD was also under fire after a video of officers pulling a gun on a 19-year-old fare evasion suspect was posted on social media. Another incident caught on camera in the same week showed an NYPD officer punching a 15-year-old in the face amid a scuffle between two groups of teens and police.

https://myfox8.com/2019/11/11/more-than-40000-donated-to-gofundme-for-alabama-man-charged-with-felony-for-stabbing-baby-trump-balloon/

A GoFundMe helped bring a Baby Trump balloon to Alabama, WIAT reports. Then, a man launched a GoFundMe to help him fight a felony charge for stabbing it. The famous Baby Trump balloon, which depicts President Donald Trump in a diaper, first appeared in London in protest to Trumps visit. Since then, other similar balloons have popped up in other nations and in the United States. Protest organizers launched a GoFundMe to raise funds to bring the Baby Trump balloon to Tuscaloosa, pulling in more than $7,800. The balloon was set to fly Saturday as a protest while the president was in Tuscaloosa for the Alabama-LSU game. That afternoon, Hoyt Deau Hutchinson reportedly posted a video, which is no longer public, to Facebook announcing his plan, according to WIAT. I dont know how many of yall Republicans out there got any balls about yourself, but they got that Baby Trump balloon down here on campus right now and Im going down here to make a scene, so yall watch the news, he said in the video. Im fixing to get rowdy, so yall pay attention. Im shaking, Im so mad right now, but Im fixing to go. Im fixing to pop this balloon without a doubt. At about 1 p.m., police responded to the corner of Hackberry Lane and 15th Street, where he allegedly cut a hole in the balloon.

Upon arrival, officers observed Hoyt Deau Hutchinson, age 32 of Tuscaloosa, cut into the Baby Trump balloon, and then attempted to flee the area, a news release said, WIAT reports. Officers apprehended the suspect and took him into custody on a charge of Criminal Mischief First Degree. After Hutchinson was arrested, another GoFundMe, titled Restitutions for Baby Trump Stabber, appeared to help raise money to pay legal fees for the suspect. The GoFundMe appears to have been created by Hutchinson. The page aimed to raise $6,000, but by 1:30 p.m. Monday, it had raised more than $40,000. That is, until the GoFundMe reportedly said those donations could not be used to help the defendant. We have been reported by the sympathizers, the creator wrote. Apparently we didnt read the fine print. Gofundme is not going to allow these generous donations to help Hoyt. They will soon likely refund all your support. Apologize for the inconvenience folks.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/viral-video-nypd-arresting-woman-selling-churros-subway-draws-outrage-n1079471

Video of a woman being arrested as she was selling churros in a New York City subway Friday has drawn a critical eye on policing of the public transit service. Sofia Newman, a bystander, recorded the woman being arrested and posted the interaction on Twitter, where it has been viewed at least 1.8 million times. The unidentified woman, who was selling churros in the subway without a license, was taken into custody by what appeared to be four city police officers. Newman asked officers in the video why the woman was being arrested and pointed out that the woman was crying. An officer told Newman that it was illegal to sell food inside the subway. "Can she just go outside and keep her stuff?" Newman asked. "No," the officer said. In a now-viral thread, Newman said one of the officers mocked the woman and rolled his eyes at her after she tried to speak in Spanish to another officer. "No matter what the law says, there is no reason why that many officers needed to encircle, demean, and police the poverty of that woman of color," Newman wrote. "It was an abuse of power, and yet another example of how broken our system is."

The New York Police Department said in a statement that the arrest was a response to numerous complaints about unlicensed vendors at the Broadway Junction station in Brooklyn because of to health concerns. Police said the woman in the video had received 10 summons in the last five months for unlicensed food sales at the Broadway Junction stop. She was told in English and Spanish that she would be given a summons during the arrest Friday and that her cart would be taken for evidence, according to police. "She refused to cooperate and was briefly handcuffed; officers escorted her into the command where she was uncuffed," the statement said. "Her property was vouchered as arrest evidence and she was released within minutes." New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer tweeted Newman's video and said the incident raised "serious questions" about increased police presence in the subways. "This kind of enforcement doesn't make anyone safer," Stringer wrote. Stringer's criticism was echoed in statements from other city officials, including City Council Speaker Corey Johnson. "Over-policing our subways isnt going to solve anything," Johnson said on Twitter. "We can keep the subway safe without harming people just trying to earn a living." City Council member Brad Lander tweeted that subway policing "shows how cruel & corrosive criminalizing poverty is." "We dont want to be a city where we pay public servants to arrest churro vendors," Lander said. "But we are. Thanks @SofiaBNewman for standing up for her, and our better selves."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez apologized for blocking a former Brooklyn Assemblyman on Twitter on Monday and settled a lawsuit he filed alleging she violated the First Amendment by preventing him from viewing or engaging with her account. But the New York congresswoman is continuing to block several critics from her personal Twitter account, @AOC, which she uses to communicate with the public about everything from policymaking to campaigning. Among the blocked accounts are that of Niraj Antani, a right-wing Ohio state lawmaker, Harry Cherry, a young conservative activist, Liz Wheeler, a host at the right-wing One American Network, Ryan Saavedra, a conservative activist at the Daily Wire, the group Students for Trump, and the right-wing website The Daily Caller, The New York Post confirmed on Saturday. Ocasio-Cortez has defended blocking critics by arguing that they had harassed her, they weren't her constituents, and that @AOC is technically a personal, rather than official, account. While many of these users have gotten into disagreements with Ocasio-Cortez, it's unclear whether their conduct rises to the level of harassment or threats, which likely wouldn't be fall under protected speech.

Legal precedent isn't in Ocasio-Cortez's favor. The Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously in July that President Donald Trump is violating the First Amendment by blocking critics from his Twitter account. The government petitioned for re-hearing in August. Prominent First Amendment experts have urged Ocasio-Cortez in recent months to reverse her decision to block critics on the social media platform. In a statement last week regarding the settlement, Ocasio-Cortez conceded that former Assemblyman Dov Hikind hadn't harassed her and that his online speech in regard to her account was protected by law.

https://pagesix.com/2019/11/06/billionaires-wife-claims-she-can-use-n-word-because-she-knows-alicia-keys-suit/

The wife of a billionaire hedge funder claims shes not racist for using the n-word because shes friends with Alicia Keys. Lisa Falcone, the wife of beleaguered hedge funder Philip Falcone, told her former personal chef she wasnt racist after using the n-word and said he could ask her black friend Alicia Keys to confirm, according to new court papers. Falcone allegedly dropped the n-bomb after meeting cook Brian Villanuevas girlfriend, who is black, according to a wage-dispute lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court Wednesday against the socialite and her Harbinger Capital hubby. Villanueva said his gal pal came in to help him cook for a Hamptons dinner party the Falcones were hosting on July 13, 2019 attended by Keys and her husband Swizz Beatz and the next morning Lisa commented on how articulate his partner was. Your girlfriend speaks very well. She seems educated. I would describe her as a chocolate-covered marshmallow, the chef claims Lisa said.

Despite Villanueva appearing visibly offended, she went on to ask Do you use the word n- at home with your girlfriend? say the court papers. Defendant Lisa Falcone noticed the shocked and offended expression on Plaintiffs face, however, rather than apologize, she said defensively, Im Puerto Rican and grew up in Spanish Harlem so I can speak like that,' the suit reads. Later that day, Villanueva claims he delivered pizza to the Falcones on the beach, and told them he was quitting due to the racist remarks. Rather than accepting Plaintiffs resignation, Defendant Lisa Falcone asked Plaintiff not to resign and stated talk to my black friends (seemingly referring to Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz both of whom were at the beach with the Falcones at that time), and emphasized they will tell you that I am not racist,' the documents read. Hes suing for discrimination and violation of New York labor laws, saying hes owed $4,230.76 in unpaid wages. The lawsuit also claims Philip said he would only pay Villanueva if he and his girlfriend signed a confidentiality agreement promising to not repeat Lisas utterances. They declined to sign.
