I'd prefer to see him do prison time too, but you know what? If he winds up being forced into an ordinary life, with an ordinary job (probably unskilled or semi-skilled), with an ordinary social circle because anyone remotely geeky won't go near him?

You're not the only one who realizes this, TC. On the contrary: everyone comes to this realization at some point in their lives. And then we realize that it doesn't really mean anything, and move on.

The variety in human psychology is almost infinite: certainly too vast for perfect matches to ever be possible. But by sheer numbers, there are thousands if not millions of people out there who would be excellent matches as friends or even partners for any given person. All you have to do is find some, and it turns out that this isn't so difficult.

This doesn't mean that friendships and relationships are effortless. Again, perfect matches are impossible; we all need some accommodation in our lives, even me, even you. But you put in the effort to accommodate your friends and partners, and they put in the effort to accommodate you, and this is the glue that makes it work.

He can't be elected President again. Technically I'm not sure anything is actually stopping him from running, but I doubt that any party would accept a candidate who isn't allowed to win.

He could run for the Senate or House, though. He could even be appointed to the Supreme Court; there's no chance of Trump appointing him, but who knows what the next Democrat in office might do?

It wasn't supposed to be a good game. It was supposed to a depressing allegory about the grinding routine of life in a system where private land ownership led to concentration of wealth. Parker Brothers gamified the original rules a bit, but even they couldn't take all the un-fun out of it.

It's a gray area, technically. I find it very, very difficult to sympathize with him, though.

It's kind of disingenuous to say babies have to eat meat when you can just look at India (around 30% vegetarian) and see no shortage of babies that were raised never eating meat.

Most of these will still breastfeed their babies, because that's just common farking sense. It's what babies naturally eat, just as carnivores naturally eat meat. You naturally wean a baby off of milk onto veggies when the time is right, but you don't worry about it until then, because it's no big deal.

The problem is these Western parents are usually into all kinds of dumb conspiracies and do stuff like not going to the doctor and eating weird diets far beyond just no meat (no gluten, etc.).

Really, this is about a borderline-psychotic notion of "purity" that, once again, even most vegans don't subscribe to. We're talking about the kinds of people who would say that if someone cannot eat vegan for health reasons, then that person is defective and should die. It's not something you see every day, but I've encountered it a couple times.

And then, to make matters worse, we've got a particular branch of this kind of psycho-purism that doesn't even bother to do the research to do it properly. As it turns out, it is possible to raise some children and even babies on vegan diets; it's quite a bit more difficult than for adults, but at least in some circumstances, it can, in fact, be done. But it does require a lot more effort and attention than normal, and these parents seem to have just not wanted to put the effort in. Criminal neglect indeed.

He's actually kind of got a point, if you look at this from the standpoint of the logistics of minting coins, though he almost certainly wasn't. They haven't chosen a design yet (the bill specifies in general terms what kind of design they want, but doesn't go so far as to nail down an actual design). That means they can't even start making the dies, much less the coins themselves, and that all has to be done before they can start issuing them. And that's a problem, given that they only have a year to issue these coins. This bill should have been passed a year ago, or even two, to allow more time for the other administrative rigamarole.

Is this what Trump was thinking about? Probably not. Dude was just trying to score political points with a pithy sound bite. But if you tilt your head the right way and squint one eye just right, you can kind of make something out from the perspective of all the boring logistical crap that Trump never thinks about.
