I went to a boarding school the last two years with college-style schedules and I find that a lot better blank space in the day. Maybe it gets too much if you get 4-5 in a row, but that's not happening. When you have spare hours in the day it's not really enough to do something intensely productive and it's not good time for relaxing either because you're just fidgeting until the next class. --- |

The bad news: I'm pre-enrolled in a couple courses for my major and I got awkward times for them. My Computers in Business class goes from 2-3:15 on MW, which is bizarre because normal classes end at 2:15 and start at 2:30. So I'm locked out of either neighboring time slot because of that. My other pre-enroll is on Friday from 4-5:15, fucked up man. So right now I have a break from 12-2 on MWF. Feels a little long to me, but the other class I'm taking is a film discussion seminar on Tues/Thur from 2:30-3:45, it has no other time slot. I dont like that I have just one class then that's so late in the day relatively. I feel like I'll be fidgeting unproductively until I get it over with. --- |

If you looked through Smogon at comp 'Mon examples you will see the same moves over and over and over. They might change because their effects differ in a different format (eg doubles) or to be a physical or special move, but besides that, most moves don't create unique new meta situations, and many that due are still not used because despite their unique properties they still have bad power or accuracy. --- |

Pokemon aren't like a trading card game. You can always release cards with a totally new gimmick that alters playstyle and interactions because you can literally write anything on the cards. Pokemon are almost infinitely less flexible. There are a lot of Pokemon that just aren't that different than others already because the number of interesting unique combinations is limited. Pokemon Gen 8 is less comparable to a new Standard rotation and more comparable to WotC bringing back a standard from ten years ago that has already been endlessly scrutinized and mapped out on the internet. As far as the single player goes, there is no significant gameplay difference to make this entry less stale besides a moving camera. The gameplay formula is still unchanged. Cutting all those pokemon doens't affect the main storyline because the main storyline is always balanced around the regional dex and you can't import yet. --- |
