This is the big issue to me. A story doesn't have to be purely about competition, but it does need to logically lead to a wrestling match. A big heated blood feud can work just fine without any sort of "I'm better, trust me!" motivations as long as you make the blowoff a no DQ match or equivalent, since it makes perfect sense that two guys who hate each other with a passion would be eager for the opportunity to legally beat the shit out of each other with anything they can get their hands on.

I mean, there have been a couple others. Mamoswine is a good example of how to make an ice type that isn't super fast - give it still usable speed, decent bulk, and make it hit like a truck to justify the downsides.

Yeah I don't think even a RNG blessed Hector stands much chance against Uhai, dude is fast, on a forest and has weapon triangle advantage (you can bait him to use his Longbow but if you don't kill him before enemy phase, which isn't trivial to do, he'll just go to the Killing Edge)

From what I've heard, this is the first time you can really encounter Pokemon that are way overlevelled so this makes sense to me.

You could get some really overleveled stuff with the DexNav in ORAS and there was that rare level 30 Dugtrio in the originals, but that's about it as far as I can remember.

Basically any time I'm cleaning something that requires anything more than just water (and even with just water sometimes), I always get this weird feeling for a while after like I may have accidentally swallowed some of it. Like I'll mop the floor, then end up being sure that I have a funny taste in my mouth that makes me think I somehow got some of the water in my mouth. Or I'll clean the sink, then have a glass of water and it feels like the water just tastes different somehow and makes me worry that somehow my drink got contaminated by whatever I was just doing...even if I was drinking water that had been in the fridge since before I actually started cleaning. I don't really know why it happens, it's not like I've ever actually swallowed something I shouldn't have or anything. Is this a thing other people ever deal with?

One thing I'm willing to give GameFreak the benefit of the doubt on is that they'll put some effort into rotating things in and out. I'm assuming/hoping that's why they cut so many popular mons this time- they'll be in gen 8 and a lot of these guys won't be.

I do think they'll probably do a good job of rotating stuff, only things that might get shafted in the long run are some of the legendaries.

Metro is my favourite, it's laid out in a way that means you're basically always doing something as you move around. My least favourite thing in 3D Mario games is pointless empty space dragging things out (64 was very bad about this, as are a few kingdoms in Odyssey), and Metro has next to none of it. You're always right next to something you can use to start jumping up onto the rooftops, and it's a lot of fun trying to figure out how many ways you can find to get to any given place.

Terry looks great, but this presentation was pretty eh. We really didn't need to see Sakurai playing Classic Mode for almost a third of the entire run time. The history lesson intro was kind of neat but it really didn't belong in a stream that was already going to be so padded out.

It's definitely one of the dumbest memes in terms of how it's been used. Usually memes start off in one context, get used that way for a while, then eventually starts getting used in less and less sensible ways until it loses meaning and no one cares. This one feels like it had widespread use in a relevant context for like, a day before it primarily became a thing people who are decades removed from being boomers spam at each other.

Tangela is a good one, although it gets a bit of extra recognition from being one of the many things to get a new evolution in the 4th generation. Kingler has little going for it other than ancient anime presence. I think the Horsea line is memorable enough because everyone knows Kingdra from its periodic appearances in boss fights as a nuisance you never have a good answer to.

Only in Yellow and Let's Go (and even in LG not the rematch apparently?). Otherwise, his highest level Pokemon is Weezing or Crobat. Or Muk. Koga is very indecisive.

TPP having Venomoth take down Dragonite is a thing though, between that and the recency of Let's Go that might indeed take Venomoth out of the running.

I think Paras/ect get a pass because people remember their original exclusive access to Spore sometimes. Seel/Dewgong are a pretty strong contender, as is Lickitung. But I think Venonat/Venomoth probably take the cake given that they haven't even been included in a regional dex since forever ago (I think first two generations and their remakes are the only ones)
