Sweden re-elected a SocDem PM in September 2018 after Right-wing rule from October 2006-2014. Finland just elected a SocDem PM after right-leaning politics for many years. And Denmark just elected a SocDem.

Norway re-elected its Conservative PM in 2017 though but it was with a very narrow margin and Erna Solberg need to keep the Christian Democratic opposition party happy because they agree to support the Government with their 8 seats in exchange for a lot of influence. The Government hold 80 seats while all of the opposition combined hold 89.

Dansk Folkeparti drop from 21.1% in 2015 to 8.7% in yesterdays election and lose 21 of their 37 seats in Folketinget.

A new far-right party does enter Folketinget but only with 4 seats. So the Danish far-right is fractured and diminished.

The Socialdemocrats and their potential partners in Red, Green and Socialliberal parties get majority if they work together.

Denmark has been ruled by right-leaning Classical Liberals together with Dansk Folkeparti over the past four years.

The Socialdemocrats in Denmark hold very strict immigration policies though mixed with strongly left-leaning policies on welfare, healthcare, education and taxation for the rich. I believe they are liberal in terms of LGBT-rights and abortion.

I would gladly have kept holding the door open for them if they had waited their turn but the way they acted toward a visibly injured person put me off hard and is what made me call them out on their behaviour. It is basic social decency that you show consideration in situations like these and dont try to force your way past someone who is struggling to walk.

My boyfriend and I were going to a restaurant and hes broken a bone in his foot and is walking with crutches so I held one of the two doors open for him.

Two women who were leaving the restaurant at the same time seemed to think I held the door open for them and tried to squeeze past my boyfriend who were struggling forward with his crutches. So I turned to the women and said Im holding the door for him, not for you and they started blushing and looked like deer caught in the headlights.

That is my point. Yes, there are plenty of filthy rich people in Danderyd. Yes, very few are poor. But not everyone is so rich they dont need the public education and care options and those two entities are at risk of getting hit with a sledgehammer now to balance the budget.

I don't. The people living there voted for that kind of politics. That municipality has one of the highest median incomes in all of Sweden.

I worry about the children though. They didnt vote for this and not all parents there are so rich they can afford private schools, maids and shit. I read that at least one fritids (a type of after school care for you non-Swedes) will be shut down :/

But they also get money back from the skatteutjmningsssystem and the main reason they are in this mess is because they have built their municipal economy on selling land which gives a one time payment and they have not saved any money like municipalities usually do to have a back up. And they spend a lot more than they have despite having a huge tax base despite the skatteutjmningssystem. So that arguement is a poor diversion from personal responsibility.

Danderyd is a wealthy suburb outside Stockholm where the average monthly income is a lot higher than the national average. If youve seen the Swedish Netflix show Quicksand - it is set in Danderyd.

A political bombshell was dropped yesterday when the local political leadership announced that the municipality is in deep debt after years of living above their means.

The Conservatives have governed the municipality since it was formed in 1971. Sometimes alone in majority and sometimes in a coalition with some other right-wing party like the Christian Democrats or the Liberals (liberalism here is more akin to Classical Liberalism, especially in the Stockholm region). So the economic message has always been deregulations, privatizations and tax cuts.

The municipal tax in Danderyd is low compared to most of the country because of these economic policies but now they are doing a shock increase of 1.40 SEK per 100 earned (0,15 USD per 10.47) which is a lot.

I fear that the ones who will suffer from this will be the children in public schools and the elderly in public nursing homes since there will be substantial spending cuts according to the local politicians but I worry that the cuts wont be made on the fancy projects that helped cause the debt.

The Conservatives base their national economic policies on the ones in Danderyd so this will probably create debate on a national level as well even though the Conservatives arent in power (they governed 2006-2014 though).
