Eh, some dude sucker punched me outside of a bar once. I had two black eyes, likely a broken nose, and two big gashes on my head. I went to work the next day and was hella the brunt of the joke, but I just laughed about it and said "if you think I look bad, you should see the other guy...'s fist... " Lol. What ya gonna do? This is the farthest thing from what I'm talking about. We're talking about how ridiculous it is to choose to work remote when you can go into the office (assuming it's only 2~ hours long one way). What I'm talking about is the pervasive culture among workers, who would directly benefit from controlling more hours of their day, against remote work. If the workers can't even advocate for it, then obviously the managers won't give the choice.

Again it all comes down to this: If your boss forced you to work remote, would you quit on the spot because they are refusing to let you do your job? If so, you're fucked in the near future. You can try to slow it down as much as possible, but it's soooooo much easier to just learn how to write a god damn document and communicate asynchronously.

Spoken like a true person who doesn't know what it is like to have children at home. People can prefer to work at work to do their job.

Employers would pay the amount required to the government.

When you go to see a doctor, the doctor would file a form, send it to whoever is handling the costs. The government sends them the money collected to cover that cost.

So is it an increase for the middle class or not? Requiring middle class workers whose employers pay x amount to now pay more than x amount due to what is considered the same cost for everyone is likely to make them get paid less in return. But, again, how does this get figured out when the cost would fluctuate with unemployment. Like we are at 3.5% unemployment now. If it goes to 10% how could this plan not bankrupt the entire country.

If you don't take such an action then there is nothing stopping him from further consolidating his power and eroding our Democracy.

Or, they could do both, but our system is hopelessly broken and partisan. The House has passed plenty of great bills (and are continuting to introduce legislation during the impeachment investigation as a matter of fact) that the Senate doesnt engage with. Only the most minor of things have been getting done. There really is no better time to impeach than now, because Congress was already unable to do its main job.
