I think it's a bad analogy and there's a lot of wonky handwaving in this topic about this subject - I would be mindful of that.

The root cause, from this topic, seems to be "some people signed for a loan and don't want to repay it" and not the value of what the loan paid for. You're acting like debt forgiveness will solve the problem and it won't, it will just increase the pool of people who aren't dealing with the problem.

It is a problem that you can have a young person with $100,000 in student loan debt. The root cause doesn't seem to follow - the solutions all seem to be having other people pay for it.

I wouldn't call it throwing unless they're just running around stocking up on level 1 scopes to leave a cute deathbox, or landing in the ocean. I'd also say, if you're dropping hot and someone doesn't want to go with you, you guys should be on the mic discussing or at least using pings.

If I'm on an elite streak, I find myself breaking off of my group when they make bad decisions. I'll ping where we need to be. In regular Apex, it's ride-or-die (with some exceptions of course - I'm not here to protect someone's loot FOMO)

Twin Peaks was great because I had a threesome instead of watching the movie. We went out to see City of Angels, it was sold out so we rented Twin Peaks, put it on and didn't really watch it. I really don't like David Lynch movies at all.

Memento is pretty good. I generally like Nolan's movies. His best is The Prestige - that might make my top 10 all time.

I think my all-time ranking has drifted apart, and all I can do is conjure up the movies that have been my top:

Star Wars RotJ
Transformers
Back to the Future
The Great Outdoors
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Terminator 2
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
Aladdin
A Clockwork Orange
Natural Born Killers
The Crow
Bravehart
Gladiator
Fellowship

that doesn't really cover the scope of a top list, but to the best of my recollection that's what my #1 has been over time. My 80s list is probably more like "whatever the last good movie I watched was because we then put the VHS in over and over for 2 weeks".

I don't know if anything could overtake Fellowship, but Two Towers has a rough bit of pacing in the middle. I think you've got like a half hour+ of Elf romance and Ents. Everything Rohan is top tier though. Helmsdeep is amazing.

As far as series, I think I go 1 > 3 > 2 due to pacing, but 3 suffers from what little carelessness Jackson engaged in with the trilogy (Army of the dead, Saruman, Gandalf v Witch King)... and yeah extended edition or bust.

If you are feeling upset (you are entitled to your own feelings) you still have to make the choice of reacting in a way that will make the game/community better, or at least not make things worse.

And I don't see why you let someone chase people out of the community and reward them for it. You're only supporting that and encouraging more of it.

So I was gonna ask for some advice and tips on what to do better and what to avoid in future but if y'all are just gonna throw mud at each I'll give it a hard pass. *yawn*

Play with more town objectives earlier in the game. When you lurk, timezones or not, you become a big distraction for town and a big target for both town and scum. You totally came out as obvtown at the end, but before that, you were also supposedly inexperienced town that was mostly lurking yet calling other people "bad town". Corrik's suspicion of you was totally warranted.

And being mislynched isn't the be-all-end-all for town. Like puns said, not all mislynches are created equally. If you can help town out and then become mislynched, you can provide a big pile of knowledge and confirmed perspective. Ultimately you helped town achieve a win. Did you have fun?

Shewwww I don't want to miss han's game but after that long one and plus the fact I'm gonna be on vacation, seems like a good time to take a rest

The best thing I can say is that if you have two guys that just seem like they are accomplishing nothing, lynch the better player.

I didn't have confidence in who it would be. I had some vague reasoning that the NK would suggest red more than the others but it wasn't firm. I also had some strange idea that Sultan would confirm no millers to the scum team which would allow Mzero to cruise with that. Puns felt like he was playing the way I'd play in this game so it was east -for me- to think of him as town but again never really confident.

Just hoping Ainge isn't legit pursuing AD because that's a dude who is playing 40 games for Boston, tops. I think he needs to stick with a lot of the young talent we have and make them feel special here because I imagine everyone just feels like they're part of some massive trade asset churn.

Reservoir Dogs - the poster for this movie was incredibly popular when I went to college (1996). Back then, you didn't run to the internet and find out what other movies the director made, so you had to have someone tell you. Back then, being hip about anything was easy - someone said "you gotta watch this movie" and you watched it and you then got to be the guy "oh Pulp Fiction is good but Reservoir Dogs is better... oh you haven't heard about Reservoir Dogs...?"

Up - man that wasn't even a gut punch, that was a total kick in the nuts. You can't tough it out, you just crumple and feel sick and you cant use your legs. The rest of the movie is fun (talking dogs and Kevin and floating a house with balloons) though the theme doesn't seem incredibly new. It's a bit picky given that it's a kid's movie that also hits with adults. Like, it's immediately obvious that the kid is going to break through the old guy's defenses at the end. They could have easily put the beginning at the end to give the story a sense of redemption, but they didn't. You don't have to wait until the end to be told why the old guy is the way he is. It's well done. It's not my favorite Pixar movie or anything, nothing will top Inside Out for me, but it's good stuff.

Coco was well done, too. One of the first movies my kid was old enough to follow the plot, and the plot was a little deeper than "friendship is magic". She's been worried about dying ever since, though

Haha this is great. I would love to hear more about these dudes because it just seems like such a small sliver of a generation that no one has properly profiled yet.

3 things in common with them... maybe not that interesting:
1. They all prioritized getting into a house over anything. They'd stay in on weekends, find cheap solutions to everything, and spend their days counting their moneys. They kinda skipped out on their 20s in a way millennials would never dream of, in order to have a decent house and then having nice vacations with their families. And it's always new construction, always.
2. They all married teachers, it's almost unnerving how every house party is filled with teachers complaining about being teachers.
3. They are insane clock watchers. "I got in at 9:13, so I leave at 5:13. It takes me 3 minutes to get to the door so I will leave my desk at 5:10". It's worse than a union.

I would say that 90% of them will be having affairs once the kids move out to college.

American Beauty was one of my faves too, I think it's a good look from the perspective of youth towards 40-50something. I think it marked the shift in mentality towards what "old" people are supposed to be like and what they are supposed to prioritize. The more I think on it, it seems like it deals with the routine of resentment.

#128. The Wolf of Wall Street
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d8/The_Wolf_of_Wall_Street_%282013%29.png
Dir: Martin Scorsese
Genre: Drama, Comedy, Crime
Year: 2013

In between passion projects, Scorsese just seems to be able to deliver a supremely entertaining film each decade, without fail. You have Goodfellas in the 90s, The Departed in the 00s, and this decade's Scorsese blockbuster was The Wolf of Wall Street.

For whatever reason, people didn't really "get" this movie upon release. A lot of more sensitive-minded individuals derided it for glorifying toxic masculinity, and dudebros likewise loved it for the wrong reasons. I think viewers are now starting to understand that the movie is pretty obviously an over-the-top satire of masculine finance culture--and it's making fun of that Wall Street lifestyle more than it's romanticizing it.

Anyway, The Wolf of Wall Street is three hours of really fun tomfoolery that feels like it's only an hour and a half. Jonah Hill steals the show, in my opinion, but the rest of the performances are phenomenal as well. Add that to Scorsese's trademark rock 'n roll directing style, and you have one of the most purely entertaining and quotable films of the generation.

I like the movie a good deal, but it does spend a lot of time focusing on the good times. You get to the end of the movie and feel like, "that was totally worth it".
