Part of me gets his point about comedians being able to say things that might sound racist as part of an act. I think it's important to laugh at things like this, and be able to accept some comments that might sound a little racist/whatever out of context. I don't think comedians should be stifled or limited in terms of what they want to make fun of.

But I watched the video of him saying what he did, and it simply isn't funny. It isn't comedy in the slightest; it was a podcast with some other douche. I mean I could see if he was telling something on stage, you know like say Dave Chappelle might would do, but this was literally two dudes sitting there talking to each other on a podcast while being racist. If this was intended to be a comedy podcast, then yeah, it just missed badly. There was no comedic timing, no real punchline or payoff, just nothing but random acts of badness.

This contest functions by characters having a main saver, and as lefty alluded to Rufus hasn't ever really had that. The closest thing was ahirsch. He can really only succeed if he just outlasts stuff like Cissnei, which is very rare considering he lacks someone to main him before he gets eliminated. In essence, it'll never be "poor Cissnei" because she'll always have someone to make sure she doesn't get eliminated this low. A boost based on the remake will be pretty useless for anyone from VII unless it makes a new main saver out of them; this is SMFFFC, not Character Battle.

Ah yeah, Rival Schools! The Note is a good add, and Realms of the Haunting is also a cool game but I didn't get any luck with their draws unfortunately :(

Since FF7 is the heaviest game in this update, I will just say I am waiting for the Remake's release next year to update images for the game as needed (Jessie, Biggs, etc.)

I was able to get this one ready in under a week, so there's hope for 1998 later this month perhaps. We'll see. Anyway yeah, this is the fully active 1997 tag. There are 622 characters in the gauntlet for that year. I added 226 new characters from games released in this year as well, bringing the current total for VGC up to 19,726. If you do want to check those out specifically to see them, use the new tag as always. Apologies if anyone that wanted to play the August update has missed it, since the new tag is now in use for this update instead of that one.

I mean I'm glad they were is all. Not that I probably would have saved Cloud over Rufus anyway, but having Cloud off the board was like my last real care outside of the save I ended up making. Not even sure why I held since I'd have been okay with any of those characters out.

I just noticed this, but I've been voting "Cloud" the whole time now. Have I been doing something wrong?

This only applied when Cloud of Darkness was in.

This is the reason I save him. I struggled at FFT (it was the first game of the genre I played, and I was pretty young at the time and didn't realize what I was getting myself into). When I've held and saved him in the past, the reason is because he's OP and makes things easier in a game I really didn't care for as a player.

I'd be on board for a redemption/return-to-form run for Tidus, but outside of like one person (who doesn't always make rounds), most Tidus fans seem content with the win and have moved on to other projects. I think moreso than most champions, at least one that are classically strong, Tidus has had less success post-win. Like I feel a lot of Squall's diehard supporters still push him, Cloud's fans still seem to, etc.

I recommend playing Unforgiving first. They take place in the same universe as well as being made by the same developer; it isn't necessary, but you might see a few little things you recognize.

I can't believe I actually got Ellis/Bullet final (even though Ellis pic was a little broken). Bullet is such a good boy. Pretty horror-centric update and it's not even October yet!

This was a surprisingly strong month for horror. Fairly major releases with Man of Medan and Blair Witch, plus some other stuff like Apsulov (recently discovered this and the studio's previous work, Unforgiving, which I highly recommend). We watch a lot of older horror stuff lately as well. If you've never checked it out, I greatly would suggest White Chamber (lead character won my gauntlet). It's this point and click horror game with an anime art style. It's very interesting I think.

Fun match, it was won by one of my favorite Navis to fight (at least, love the creativity of the fight), and the Darkest Dungeon stuff really helped solidify me enjoying some time through it, Jester is mostly my MVP through pieces with his multi-bleed stuff. Abomination also one of my better units, other two could have replacements, but I still need more practice in the game. Two 3 houses people, who are 2/3 people I'm heavily anticipating to like. The third is Marianne, but she lost just outside of the top 10. Had a sneak, but she cute.

Glad you enjoyed the Darkest Dungeon stuff. I thought it was a pretty popular game and recently ran across it somewhere, I forget, and noticed none of the stuff was in.
