If the PS5 is fully backwards compatible, I'd wait. You're paying more, but a base PS4 has pretty bad storage and can't do 4K BD playback. If you wait a year you'll get a better device with better storage that plays all those PS4 games anyway and "future proofs" you from having to buy a new console for at least another 6 or so years.

I knew this was going to be an issue especially after my band blew off the practice that was supposed to focus on getting me sounding how they wanted, but part of it is also the fact that Im listening to an unmixed version with no vocal effects compared to the natural reverb of a love setting.

Vocals are normally recorded last, so see if the mixer can provide you with a rough cut of the song with the click track still turned on and mixed up. At the very least it should help with lining things up in a future recording, but then you can also practice with the volume turned way down so you can really tell what you're doing well or poorly. That should give you everything you need to practice for the next recording session.

I think that'll be the real litmus test for to what degree the series' brand has been damaged. If they push a full knights of the old republic series/trilogy/whatever and it falls totally flat, then we'll know the impact from TLJ is irreparable.

I completely get what you're coming from. I'm certainly not hyped for this as much as I could be, but for a fan of the original trilogy this is also closure of sorts. Abrams is going to (presumably, somehow) tie up everything that's been threaded through the prior 8 movies and when the credits roll I can walk away from Star Wars satisfied that I "saw it through". There will always be more movies and shows, but there won't be anything tying me to them.

Yes. TLJ eradicated any interest I had in star wars. IDK why anyone who was supremely disappointed with TLJ would be interested in Rise since there's no room for a satisfying story and conclusion, what with only having one movie to build it all up and such

Speaking personally, I'm still very much interested in seeing what they do with Kylo Ren who is the most interesting character in the sequels. The rest of the cast isn't BAD even if they're not Han/Luke/Leia and were competent enough in TFA. Sure, I don't have the same level of hype as with earlier movies, and this movie doesn't get the benefit of really building on the prior one, but Abrams is a competent director and at the very least I want to see how someone with his level of skill would try to save this franchise, or at least wrap it up.

i wonder how much of this is due to rapidly changing trends in tech. these days, so much of IT now is reliant on managed service providers, The Cloud, etc.

as a result you can run pretty lean, you don't need a big onsite IT team. just the guys to keep the lights on, someone to administrate the systems, and then for the rest you can hire consultants or partners as needed (esp since most software these days has an API so they can all connect nicely together).

i havent been in the industry too long but imo it seems like the hot new IT roles of the future are going to be more focused on the process end, working with cross-functional teams etc.

Presumably the TC is talking about actual developers, AKA the people that write all the stuff that IT services manage. Either that, or they have a boutique use case (like needing to be off network) which causes a lot of these convenience options to fall through.
