Sakurai did a tour of the menus yesterday which is where that comes from. This video also shows and translates some of the other things shown:

I think boss intros are pretty likely. However, I think it would be a bad idea to go in expecting something on the level of SSE for cutscenes. IIRC Sakurai went on record saying how he disliked how the cutscenes got leaked and put up on Youtube. This problem would be worse today compared to SSBB. Furthermore the switch to making hype videos that are meant to be consumed before playing the games has shown to be successful and Sakurai looks to be sticking to that strategy with SSBU.

Oh, right. I'm not expecting actual like, SSE style cutscenes. I just wasn't expecting any at all, period, but the fact that there's a "theater mode" for it suggests it's got something, even if just boss/character intros.

So I don't know if it's been mentioned, but apparently there's specifically something in one of the menus that says something to the affect of "Watch Adventure Mode cutscenes"

That'd suggest there's gotta be more than like, two, even if it's just character intros or something

Sounds like that change was to prevent things like Captain Falcon's throw whiffing so much which was more of a "bug" caused by how it was than something intended. It'll mainly hurt characters that ran around fishing for throws.

I wonder how many people who said Geno and Banjo were too out of date to be liked by the general public are now defending Piranha Plant. I told a couple of my coworkers who aren't huge into gaming but like Smash Bros. about it and they thought it was the dumbest thing ever.

While I'm not one of them, I'm not sure what would be wrong with somebody saying Geno is out of date/obscure to the general public today and then defending Piranha Plant. Piranha Plant is still used in every Mario game and spinoff today.

I've seen the "Piranha Plant sets a bad precedent for DLC" argument a few places, but I don't really get it

It's free DLC that isn't part of the pack. They last time they did DLC, they gave very highly requested characters. Why would Piranha Plant being a free character make people assume the paid DLC will be bad?

You know, I was in this topic too and I don't remember any of that happening.

I remember a calm and rational discussion which included multiple people acknowledging that it didn't look exactly like the Golden Sun images but was close enough to be plausible and bringing up what at the time was a logical question of "if it's the same as the healing item, why didn't they reveal it with the healing item or mention it with the healing item on the website afterwards?"

So I really don't understand this victim complex.

I disagree with you on this, I'm on my phone so I can't bring one up right now but there were comparison shots, and it legit looked like an homage to Golden Sun. Even some of the poses were uncannily similar.

You don't need to make everyone happy. Just the largest number of people happy that you can. They completely failed to do this.

The issue is that they already made a good majority of people happy with previous reveals. The issue is that those people then came to expect more, whether because it seemed like they were bending over backwards to give fan favorites, or because of leaks, whatever. So while the order may have picked up the reaction slightly, anybody saying "X isn't in it so this game sucks" is being unreasonable.

I think putting K. Rool last would have heavily increased the "What, why?! He's not even relevant in his own series anymore!" outcry since you'd have more people that felt scorned for not getting their favorite joining in.

Hot take: While I agree the ordering could have probably been better, I'd bet money that had K Rool been the last one to be revealed, he would have been accepted much more harshly than he was because then suddenly he'd be the character people perceived as "Taking Isaac/Geno/Dixie/whoever's spot" instead of Incineroar or Piranha Plant.

Comparing Dark Pit to the "Golden Sun" screenshot or "They implied they delayed the Direct because of Isaac!" is silly.
