Yeah, I was disappointed about that as well, hopefully Ganryu will be back soon. I don't think he was ever popular, so it's not something I would bet on, though. I tried Gigas for a while, but I don't think he's good at all. I'm playing Panda/Kuma who is not nearly as bad, plus s/he is more interesting.

Most of the people shitting on poor people here grew up on mommy daddy welfare and had their school paid for and got a decent middle class job or a trade that pays well already had a head start on people growing up with missing parents or crack addict parents. It's a chronic case of overstating ones achievements and ignoring the opportunities they were given. It's a chronic case of "fuck you I got mine" while ignoring that less poor people on the streets is better for everyone

All of that is just you speculating on other peoples backgrounds, let alone their motivations, and seems to be just your way of rationalizing putting your hand in someone elses pockets. Maybe you guys should just drop this empathy charade and be straight forward about what you plan to do with the money. Improving the defense of ocean (i.e. maritime) trade routes and the sovereign borders of US allies is an example of empathy that is better for everyone, but I have my doubts about how interested you might be in that.

That was interesting. Thanks.

It's definitely provocative and no shock that it created backlash. I have heard a similar argument that can be summarized as there is no such thing as an accident. The idea is that you can not be in a car crash, for example, without having decided on some level that you either wanted to be in one or you just didn't care if you were in one. In other words, you would have chosen to do everything necessary to not be in that situation, if that was a priority for you. It's an idea I bounce around and examine once in a while, but I wouldn't offer it up in public. Kanye obviously has fuck you money, so he can afford to say whatever comes to mind.

Dash_Harber posted...
I think this 'Butterfly Effect' defense, while based in some logic, is completely pointless. If we accept that any action is morally justifiable if it can lead indirectly to positive outcomes, then every single action is morally 'right' because you can't ever 100% prove that an action is completely unconnected to a future event. It also assumes that any good can only happen as a direct result of specific tragedies, which is not always the case. In many cases, the positive result could be achieved without the tragedy.

Just to be clear, I think Columbus committed acts that were very clearly terrible and apparently even his contemporaries disapproved when they found out what he was doing. However, I don't think it's false to say that certain horrible acts in the past eventually led to some arguably positive results much later in the future, or rather our present time. Of course we also can't see into the future, so it's not so black and white as to what these chain of events will mean for our world and our descendants.

I don't think people should lose emotional control in those situations, but I don't want to risk the consequences either.

No, that would be terrible. These deaths have to mean something. If they bring them all back, that's just super lazy writing. If they do bring back the dead, then at least have Iron Man and Captain America sacrifice themselves for such a grand act.

I think Nebula has personally suffered the most, other than Gamora, but Thor witnessed most of his people being slaughtered. Any of those three "deserve" to deal the killing blow.
