I would always play Tales games in the order they came out because I find it difficult to go back to earlier games in the series. I still haven't gotten to Xillia 2 yet though.

I don't find it difficult so long as I've already played it. I can go back to Abyss like it's nothing. Symphonia is more problematic given how there's no Free Run (seeing as it's the first one in 3D).

As Berseria is very different from my understanding, I hope it doesn't make it harder for me to return to my beloved Abyss and Xillia.

Last year had the manifestation of Death itself (Raven), a cripple who the running comp was thrown to (Christmas), a guy who banged pots and pans and then blossomed into a competent strategist (Josh), a guy literally named Whistle-Nut, and the worst casting of all time (DoorMatt).

This year, we have a dominating alliance with very little personality. As I've said, Angela lacks the charms the best villainesses have. There's no "edge" to her. Kaycee is as bland as DoorMatt - and even so, she might win! Brett plays up for the cameras, but he's not a good player at the same time. He seems more like a douche than Dr. Will and Dan because of that - those two were calculated trolls having fun. And, for the mastermind, Tyler isn't very complex. Of everyone in that alliance, the two most interesting in Winston and Rachel were the two sacrifices.

Also, FOUTTE is so bad at the game that they're impossible to root for. Level 6 has continuously misted FOUTTE. By now, it has lost its luster. It's hard to root for either side now because one is flat and the other is terrible at the game. And, due to a lack of rooting interest, I've stopped caring.

Big Brother just needs to cast better. Robyn does a good job, but the fact that both Grodner and Moonves need to approve the final cast is the problem. It's why BBCAN has been continuously more compelling, as production generally approves Robyn's suggested 16 as opposed to asking her for a larger pool that they pick from.

Also yeah, this week is going to be uneventful. Feeds: Kaycee won Veto and probably isn't using it even though she's the only person in Level 6 that isn't paranoid about the upcoming Battle Back. She honestly thinks there won't be one.

I do have to be honest: I don't like that there's a Battle Back again. There's one every year and there was going to be two this year until Kaitlyn embarrassed herself. And the timing is predictable: When there are either four members of pre-jury or four members of jury. It's why the house is predicting this and adjusting their target accordingly to prevent a FOUTTE reunion. It would be superior if they shortened the game by a week in order to make the possibility less likely. The formulaic structure of the game has resulted in less excitement. And because it now happens every season at one or two specific points, Battle Back is simply not exciting anymore and undermines the game significantly for the stretches of time where it is a concern. Like idols in Survivor, it's no longer a twist - people expect and prepare for it accordingly. Having NO Battle Back would be a twist. Le sigh.

Except that her disastrous HoH week wasn't the fault of her or anyone in her alliance. Just because of a twist that screwed them two weeks in a row.

The H@CK3R twist was the only disruption that was beyond their control. The way they threw the Veto to Tyler for no reason, presumed they had Brett despite evidence indicating otherwise, and just accepted the twist for what it was instead of plotting a way around it was really terrible gameplay that they could have controlled.

The Veto was the biggest thing - if Rockstar had won that Veto and not Tyler, Angela or Kaycee would've walked out the door. But... she threw it to him. For no reason. Stupid.

I also didn't even realize Kaycee HAD a catchphrase, let alone enough screen time for it to catch on.

Yep, "Let's go" is her catchphrase. It's a funny zing if you know about it.

Brett being called a douche was a little too basic and obvious for me, I guess...

GTM has a lot backwards - he did a better job with the girls this year by far. Zing rankings...

Sam's was accurate, plus it had the F-bomb for maximum effect - plus the recency (as opposed to her turning into a robot back then). Angela's was honest, brutal, and necessary - all while delivering it humorously. Kaycee's mocked her catchphrase and emphasized how boring she is. Scottie's was the good ol' bait-and-switch done effectively. And Haleigh's was a good way to get the message to the idiots in that alliance.. even if it's too late.

They could have done better things with JC than the back hair. Fessy's was needed but only half-funny. Tyler's didn't really fit and they had other things they could've gotten him for. Brett's was just... bleh.

I think part of why we feel Zingbot is "weak" nowadays is because we remember when it felt fresh. Casuals don't.

I've lost 11 pounds in six weeks.

The way I do it is by eating only 600 to 1000 calories on two days a week; on the other days, I don't restrict myself except by only eating when I am hungry. I try to have small dinners also. Mix that with walking 70,000+ steps a week... and it's working like a charm.

What's frustrating is that FOUTTE sucks - L6 has been misting them brilliantly. I've made this analogy before, but this is basically a Mafia game. Tyler is Godfather with Angela/Brett/Kaycee being his scumbuddies (Winston and Rachel weren't scum, hence why they were evicted). The town this game is so inept and keeps accusing itself of being scum, even when Rockstar's eviction made the team obvious. One more town lynch and scum wins.

If you've ever played Mafia, you know how paranoid and accusatory town gets. That's why this house is filled with paranoia - except for L6. They know who each other are. They're working together in brilliant fashion. And it's quite the sight to watch. That said, Angela is mean but kind of flat - again, she lacks any of the traits of a good villainess. Tyler is likable but bland. Kaycee is just kinda there. Brett is epic entertainment but really bad at jury management. And yet, he might still win.

The season has been good because of the side vs. side drama, but even so the H@CK3R twist put an end to that. When Kaycee won that, it was over. Haleigh would've lynched scum had that twist not occurred. And we'd have had a more exciting endgame for it. This is why more twists isn't necessarily good. Why can't we go back to food and luxury competitions? Food for the week for the whole house (day by day, pass/fail, or team vs. team). Get rid of the Have Not Room entirely. Luxury for a movie screening, a feast, a 1-on-1 with a juror... the stuff they used to have but no longer do. Nothing expensive like a car is necessary!

L6 left a big clue no different than the Moving Company in BB15 with the Steve blindside in Week 1, but Kaitlyn's smokescreen allowed them to cover their tracks. There was also no MVP twist to open the door for a shot. Even so... they've done so many terribly stupid things that they'd be unable to pull the trigger. Le sigh.

Taran thought that "things will probably get exciting" until Cody's second eviction. IIRC, he thought they'd all eat each other and someone would actually have the testicular fortitude to target Paul. Whoops!

I'm not as entertained by RHAP as I used to be, but that may largely be due to Survivor being less entertaining and it affecting my listening then and now during BB. I think another part of it is that it's such a premier podcast now - it lacks the same organic, real-talk feel it used to have. That said, Rob is a natural and you can access both strategy-focused or more entertaining podcasts depending on what suits your fancy. He has an empire now.

Still love the LFC. The chemistry between Taran, Brent, and Melissa is phenomenal. And Liana is awesome, too.

I rewatched Samoa in May/June and Tyler is nothing like Hantz. You could see Hantz's ego growing as the game went on. He played a mightily impressive game pre-merge, but once he idoled out Kelly Dreads he became arrogant. That's also when his confessionals got redundant. It got worse in HvV when he always talked about his own immortality. When he was just a dick.

Tyler is likable, but any season with a clear kingpin is boring. BB19 was bad because Paul was a clear kingpin and sheep like DoorMatt, Christmas, and Raven/Death all thought they were in the final 3 with him and didn't do anything. The difference this season is that FOUTTE aren't brainless sheep - they're just brainless. It was funny for a while. I too can't decide if I'd rather have FOUTTE just get Pagonged or see them succeed at taking a shot at scum. It's too optimistic to think they'll gun for Tyler, even though they totally should as him going would splinter the rest of L6.

That said, I'm barely watching the episodes, but I totally am watching tonight's.

I refuse to drink aspartame and would rather have actual sugar in the soda I do drink. I only drink one soda a week, so it's not like it affects my health much.

I'll often get a low-calorie root beer (50 calories in a 16-oz. bottle) that has natural sweeteners so I completely understand your perspective. My caffeine of choice, however, is cold brew coffee, so I'm afraid I wouldn't know what to tell you.

Post-Veto meeting spoilers below

Haleigh put Kaycee up when Tyler used the Veto on Angela (probably was attempting to get Haleigh to put someone else up). Haleigh is 100% sure that the vote, sans Hacker, will be 5-2 in favor of Rockstar staying. She thinks she has Brett (LOL, what gives you that idea?), Scottie (who just told Tyler he's voting to keep Kaycee), JC (who is a wildcard), Faysal (who won't be voting, per Kaycee), and Sam (who ALSO just told Tyler she's keeping Kaycee).

My goodness, FOUTTE is bad at reading people. Brett's actions make it clear there's no way he'd vote with them and is just making empty promises for backup plans. Scottie defected to Tyler. Brett, Angela, Tyler, Scottie = enough to lynch. Sam and JC will go along with it. With Faysal being hacked out of the vote, it's looking rather unanimous... in the opposite direction Haleigh, Rockstar, and Faysal seem to be thinking. There's going to be another #blindside come Thursday, most likely - but only because these guys are soooo dumb.

This is only the fourth season I've seen, including Celebrity, and I can safely say there is no such thing, at least not anymore.

would it kill Grodner to just make another BB10?

This model would work so well:
14 complete strangers
Two one-off twists
No central gimmick
One double eviction
80ish days
Diverse cast in age, experience, background, etc.

Survivor is sadly going in the same direction of the game being more driven by twists. If Big Brother hit the brakes with the twists, it would suddenly and expect-the-unexpectedly become the better show.

Also the house this season is phenomenal. Glad they realized that a cool theme for viewers but an unnerving environment to live in is the way to go.

Bayleigh hated Tyler so much because he did one of the worst things anyone had ever done to her: He told her "Good morning." I'm serious. She went on a vendetta against him because how dare he do that. She's a horrible person who said some nasty things about everyone in the house, including her friends, and some overly racist things. She was raised a spoiled brat and that - plus the fact that she was the first to enter the house (you DO NOT do that!) - damned her in Big Brother. I have very little nice to say about her so I'm going to stop there.

Sam has a few niceties but is also quite selfish and unpleasant. She doesn't say as many awful things as Bayleigh does, but I agree she thinks her shit doesn't stink. Her "female empowerment" thing isn't really working well for her. Tyler wanted a unanimous vote against Bay and her defying him by casting a hinky out of sympathy has expedited his disposal of her. I would think, and I don't know this for sure since I don't have the overnight feeds data, that his plan is to convince Haleigh to "put Sam up as a pawn next to her target" even if that target is himself and then the rest of the Level 6 group evicts her. If Level 6 wins H@CK3R, that's enough to lynch with them nullifying Fessy's vote. If Level 6 doesn't win H@CK3R, we'll say Brett can't vote... Angela, Kaycee, and JC is not enough since Haleigh would break a 3-3 tie unfavorably and Scottie is a wildcard.

A lot rests on who the H@CK3R is. I'm really glad this twist is only two weeks because it's undermining the purity of the game... but at least it gave us one of the best house meetings I can remember. I can't think of any this exciting since Dan's Funeral. Tyler made a mistake - you don't ask "Is ___ going up if I use the Veto?" because Bayleigh used that against him by "convenient misinterpretation" (though in her case it may not have been a conscious lie - she might've actually misinterpreted since she's not too bright). You ask "If I use the Veto, who are you thinking of putting up?" Let Bayleigh be the one to name names.

It's amazing how Tyler is 30% of the house right now, since Angela and Kaycee are extensions of him and are both willing to fall on the sword for him if they have to. That said, both are unaware that Tyler has an idol, so if he has to play it... I wonder what that'll do to his position in the house.
