Obviously rehab needs to be on the table -- after all, the whole point of the prison system should be to rehab criminals for general society -- but it seems like you need at least *some* punitive measure to discourage usage as well. It's not really an either/or thing.

If possible death doesn't discourage usage, I doubt three hots and a cot will.

"The perfect crime... Marge, I need to be court next Tuesday."

tbh, I always read about these crazy fast food stories and thought how dull my visits to fast food places have been... well, until last week anyway when some guy wanted to get into a fight because some idiot had talking loudly on a phone about not being able to use his phone (sounds silly, but he was on his friend's phone apparently).

So I was sitting there watching while the guy -- who stands like a foot taller than the group he's yelling at -- is going back and forth with this guy and his friends, talking about who can beat who up. And all I can think about is that, if a fight does break out, I'm close enough that my table could be collateral damage and, if the cops are called, I'm going to be stuck giving a statement (well, that and my phone's battery is running low so I wouldn't be able to tape the thing). And I'm also watching these sheepish-looking employees take their sweet fucking time coming out to break shit up.

Finally, the employees come out and separate them, after which the group goes out to the parking lot, the guy follows them, they keep yelling, and nothing fucking happens because they're all straight-up fronting. Of course, all the while I'm thinking, "Shit, my car is parked over there. If they get into it and my car gets damaged, I'm probably going to have to take these ass clowns to court."

And yeah, the guy probably could have easily beaten up phone guy -- but there were four or five guys there. I don't care how much bigger you are, that almost certainly isn't going to end well.

lolwut? Literally anybody can go to rehab for drug abuse, assuming they can afford it. With celeb ODs, the cops usually aren't involved at all because somebody else finds the person. The people who get arrested for possession are the guys cops bust buying the stuff or find passed out in a park.

Otherwise, there are countless programs now that offer rehab instead of prison (especially for heroin) and it's a growing trend (thanks to propaganda pieces blaming doctors and drug companies for the heroin crisis), so this topic is even stupider.

It's really not that bad.

The only super poor scene is the Fin and Rose part where they are about to be executed in front of hundreds of stormtroopers and then the ship gets wrecked and there's only a couple of troopers laying there. And there's the lame fight with Phasma, plus BB8 going Rambo. The whole thing is janky and ridiculous.

Pretty much everything involving Finn & Rose was garbage. It was a long, nonsensical sidequest where the *only* result was fucking up the Resistance's escape plan and getting maybe three-quarters of the remaining forces killed. Then, when Finn was going to go out like a hero in a kamikaze attack -- something that I was starting to respect the character for -- it gets stopped

Other than Finn & Rose, I really liked TLJ. Even Poe -- who seemed kinda vanilla and dull in the first movie -- wound up being pretty cool. It was a pretty fun movie. Shame Carrie Fisher died because she could have brought a lot to the last movie if things continued in this direction.

Uhh, anything less than 8 hours in unhealthy.

Not actually true by any stretch.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/adult-health/expert-answers/how-many-hours-of-sleep-are-enough/faq-20057898

https://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/features/adult-sleep-needs-and-habits#1

"The amount of sleep needed to function the next day varies from individual to individual, and is determined genetically and hereditarily," says Chokoroverty, who is also a neuroscience professor at Seton Hall University's School of Health and Medical Sciences."

And some studies have suggested that the ideal amount of sleep for working-age adults is actually 6.5 hours, including ones which studied modern hunter-gatherer societies.

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/300962.php

Also keep in mind that over-sleeping is harmful so you aren't really erring on the side of caution with 8 hours any more than you err on the side of caution by taking extra medicine to treat an illness or by overeating.

Its enough coke to be the most successful person in the world..

The next day after the year is up though.. probably suicide or homocide or both

idk, by then you'll have probably built up a career as a day trader and can just buy your own.

I average something like 4-5 hours most days, usually broken up between a long nap and an actual sleep. I find it's a lot harder to get up when I sleep longer. No matter what, it seems to take a while for me to fall asleep. I've occasionally averaged like 3 hours a day, though.

I think he is saying that you don't have options ranging from six to twelve hours.

12 hours is not normal. Even the people in my grandma's nursing home don't sleep that much.

I think you mean your nursing home.

I'm nowhere near as old as your jokes, tbh.

Wait, what? Do you mean do a year's worth of coke each day (I don't know how to quantify that) or do it every day for a year?

Considering Disney own all the rights to every character including Mara Jade that's pretty funny. He can't block them. He created them for Lucas, who sold all the rights to Disney.

Unless it was strictly work-for-hire (which often isn't the case with authors), that's not really how it works.

Given that he wants more than just a cameo, I guess it makes sense?

idk, Mara was definitely one of my huge wants from the sequel trilogy which, so far, has been perhaps more disappointing than the prequel trilogy (although I enjoyed the parts of TLJ *not* featuring Finn & Rose, whose pointless, nonsensical sidequest made TPM's pod race look good)

Least the pod race was constant action. Pointless, sure. Boring? Not really.

True that.

I guess define good? >_> Tbh, he's set to star in that Harry Potter spinoff which should be entertaining.

Otherwise I haven't seen even half the films he's done. He might have been in something good without me knowing. Honestly, I kinda liked his portrayal of Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows, though. However, if we really mean "good," the most recent good thing I saw him in was Public Enemies in 2009.

I still need to see -- and am looking forward to -- watching the latest adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express. Just waiting for it to hit NFI or something.

Tabby isn't a breed, it's a fur pattern. Looks Tabby

Cute kitty!

Today I learned.

Shelter had him as a mix. I think there's some Russian blue in him cause he's got little stump legs

Russian blue doesn't necessarily have short legs.

There's very few cats with pedigree blood in them, even partially. Nothing wrong with a domestic shorthair cat

You seem to know a suspicious amount about Russian cats

I love how the shot is initially framed so you can't see Lisa there. I went back to see if I missed her or if they left her space empty, but "Ham" was blocking that space. Great way to hide the setup into a smaller throwaway joke.

There's been a push among the leftist/SJW crowd to raise children gender-neutral (including having gender camps or something iirc), which is what it probably refers to.

No, there really hasn't. Im pretty far left and I've never heard of such things. If anyone's doing it, its an ultra fringe group.

Then you don't really pay attention, since it's been in the news pretty often in recent years including within the last week.

https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/boy-or-girl-parents-raising-theybies-let-kids-decide-n891836

A lot of the extreme shit is being done by the fringe, but the general trend towards trying to erase gender stereotypes is far more mainstream. It includes efforts in recent years to de-segregate the boys and girls toy aisles
