Nelson_Mandela 11/28/18 8:41:01 PM #1 | Anyone else get this feeling? All of this NN breaking is really sobering to the fact that the gamefaqs voters are finally, definitively changing after 15+ years. If you think about it, for those of us who were 15-16 when the contests started, we are literally seeing people that age voting who were not even born yet making their mark here. Let's all retire. --- "A more mature answer than I expected."~ Jakyl25 "Sephy's point is right."~ Inviso |

Nelson_Mandela 11/28/18 4:08:39 PM #31 | CasanovaZelos posted... In the end, I can't think of a better character to break the Noble Nine than Pikachu. The yellow rat is easily one of the most famous gaming icons, and he wouldn't have been out of place at all if he was this strong from the beginning. I feel this is less a fall for the noble nine as much as it is Pikachu finally gaining his due strength. I'll never understand how Pokemon has increased in strength here over the years, when the peak popularity was probably 1999. I guess Smash is a huge factor. --- "A more mature answer than I expected."~ Jakyl25 "Sephy's point is right."~ Inviso |

Nelson_Mandela 11/28/18 3:33:35 PM #44 | banananor posted... Some people add a corollary that the characters have to have been in every contest. If you don't use that restriction, one could now say 'pikachu is in the noble ten', then look and see who has defeated pikachu in the past, forming the noble 11 and so on The stats guys did this. Of the characters who (I think) have been in every contest, the others would be Fox (who defeated Pikachu) and then Zelda (who defeated Fox). There are more in that set, but I don't think they've all been around since 2002. --- "A more mature answer than I expected."~ Jakyl25 "Sephy's point is right."~ Inviso |
Topic | Pours one out for the Noble Nine. In the end it wasn't Crono, Sonic or Snake |
Nelson_Mandela 11/28/18 3:06:25 PM #22 | It's perfectly fair to delegitimize victories from joke entrants like Missingno or rallied characters like Draven if you're trying to gauge the true "popularity" of a character on the site. This was a match that definitively demonstrated that Pikachu is a more popular gaming icon here than Mega Man--and really was the first of its kind to do so against any NNers since the contests started. --- "A more mature answer than I expected."~ Jakyl25 "Sephy's point is right."~ Inviso |

Nelson_Mandela 11/26/18 10:23:52 AM #1 | I'm starting to think about collecting a library of classic Disney movies for the children I will inevitably sire, but there seem to be a lot of options to choose from. So my question is: are any of the older Disney movies censored in their latest iterations? I know there are some pretty racist parts of Dumbo, Pete Pan, etc., but I think it's important to have the original film as is in order to give context to when these were made. If they have been cut recently, what is the most recent iteration that has the original theatrical version? Nelson_Mandela 11/19/18 11:49:47 AM #1 | To clarify why I am asking... In the Donkey Kong Country series, you need to beat the ("secret") Lost World in order to face a new boss fight and get the "real" ending to the games. In other games, beating the bonus worlds sometimes unlocks a "new game+" kind of deal that is otherwise unavailable if you only play through the basic levels. But in Super Mario World, does unlocking the secret levels do anything other than give you a few new stages to try out? --- "A more mature answer than I expected."~ Jakyl25 "Sephy's point is right."~ Inviso |
