It's a good game, but I prefer most other 2D Metroid games (including AM2R). I was never a fan of Metroid II, particularly being gated by the Metroids in each area (meaning sequence breaks are almost non-existent). I also prefer pixel art to the 2.5D graphics. And I prefer the catchier music in the other games (again including AM2R).

Even if it's "voluntary", they probably define that very loosely. It could mean anything short of being held down and forcibly injected. There are many ways that people could be pressured into it, with it still ultimately being "voluntary".
TopicWhat do you prefer: better drops or better craftable gear?
luigi13579
11/12/18 7:47:28 AM

If I had to pick... probably drops. Ideally, I think both should be useful.

Diablo II (the expansion, as the base game only has drops) does this fairly well (but certainly not perfectly). There are drops, crafts and Rune Words. Admittedly, Rune Words are very overpowered, but you can't get by with just them (as there are only RWs for weapons, body armor, helms and shields, and not rings, amulets, gloves, boots, belts and charms). Crafting is best for amulets and rings and occasionally good for gloves/boots/belts. Drops (particularly uniques) cover more or less everything (and indeed all components for crafts and RWs are drops).

Generally what happens is that you mix and match drops, crafts and RWs. All three can shine depending on the build/class.

Interestingly, I read an article yesterday where Warren Spector talked about BioShock, among other games.

https://www.pcgamesn.com/underworld-ascendant/warren-spector

A lot of people describe BioShock as an immersive sim and as the spiritual successor to games like System Shock. I describe it as more like theres an expression kissing cousins. Its similar in some ways to a System Shock game, or a Deus Ex, or an Underworld. Ken Levine is one of the most talented people in this business, and one of the best writers. But if you boil it down, I think hes more interested in telling his story than we are. Were much more into the player telling his or her own story. Whereas BioShock is is very much Kens story, and its a great one. But its fairly different than what we do.

The bolded part is spot on.

SS2 is the GOAT.

BioShock is really good (Rapture is the best part), but I like 2's RPG elements (plus it and SS1 being the originators counts for something). I'm also not a fan of the ending (post-twist). I think SS2 handles that better.

In the months leading up to Black Wednesday, George Soros had been building a huge short position in pounds sterling that would become immensely profitable if the pound fell below the lower band of the ERM. Soros recognized the unfavourable position at which the United Kingdom joined the ERM, believing the rate at which the UK was brought into the Exchange Rate Mechanism was too high, their inflation was also much too high (triple the German rate), and British interest rates were hurting their asset prices.[6] Soros made over 1 billion[7] in profit by short selling sterling.

As it happens, I'm playing Dawn of Sorrow at the moment. I missed out on it and Order of Ecclesia.

As for difficulty, it depends on the game. In the Metroid series, Fusion and Echoes are fairly difficult at times. The rest aren't too bad IMO. Of the Igavanias, Circle of the Moon is probably the difficult one. I hear OoE is difficult too, but I've never played it.

I'm trying to not break the game in half and actually get far.

In that case, I'd just go with a straight up Warrior type character. They're more than good enough to get through the game. The skills don't need to be too fancy. Long Blade, Heavy Armor, Block, at least one magic skill (probably Mysticism), Speechcraft/Security, etc. Try and cover each Attribute in your Major/Minor skills. A Combat focus and Strength/Luck for your attributes are fine. For the sign, probably either The Lady or The Steed.

Oh, and as for the race... probably Redguard or Imperial (or even Dunmer). Or Nord or Orc lol.

A Telvanni Mage is my personal favorite, but it's too tempting to break the game with one (for me anyway). Go with one if you want. It takes more investment than the above class to become good.

And whatever mods ye recommend

For graphics, I like the STEP guide (it covers some other mods too): https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Morrowind

MGSO is an easier alternative (it installs various graphics and sound mods with a single installer), but it's not as good as the STEP guide and has a few bugs/problems.

The essentials are: Morrowind Code Patch, Morrowind Patch Project, MGE XE, Tamriel Rebuilt (probably too much content for a first playthrough though), LGNPC, LGNPC Pax Redoran, LGNPC Tel Uvirith, Less Generic Nerevarine/Tribunal/Bloodmoon, Herbalism For Purists, Talrivian's State-Based HP, Illy's Solstheim Rumour Fix

There are loads more, but that's enough to be going on with for now.

I prefer games that are somewhere in between. Voted for "linear" since what I'm talking about is closer to that.

I'm a big fan of Metroidvania-style progression, where you gradually obtain more items/power-ups which open up new areas. I find it quite disappointing when I already have all the necessary stuff and can go anywhere right from the start. Half of the fun for me is in the journey to get to that point.

However, I don't want my exact route determined beforehand either. The player should have *some* say in the order they do things and there should be some optional distractions. You should occasionally feel that you've ended up somewhere you're not meant to be (this doesn't really work in open world games since there usually isn't anywhere you're meant to be at any one time).

At the end of the day, it's all about finding the right balance.

For me, OoT comes pretty close to this, which is why I like it so much.

It gets better. Much better.

On the "intelligence" agency Wohl set up (Surefire Intelligence):

https://www.bellingcat.com/news/americas/2018/10/30/unintelligent-design-surefire-intelligence/

When searching for the various employees who list their employment as SureFire Intelligence, nearly all of them use stolen profile photographs. In particular, many of these photographs use the sepia-toned filter that was likely used to disrupt reverse image search algorithms.

Their Tel Aviv Station Chief uses a photograph of Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli.

One of their Investigators from Boston uses a stock photograph with extra filters added on.

An LA-based Private Investigator at SureFire Intelligence bears a strong resemblance to Nick Hopper, a British model and photographer.

Edit: Actually a model called Oran Katan.
A woman who describes herself as the Head of Government Relations at SureFire Intelligence either does not exist, or is actually a stock photo model.

And the best one:

Other employees at SureFire Intelligence also stole their profile pictures from others, but perhaps the most brazen is their Zurich-based Financial Investigator Christoph Waltz.
