Clearly satire lol.

Death is death, whether by Boko Haram bombs or by a terrorist who eats fish and chips.

(It would be a real shame for a Nigerian to be scammed in the UK!)

Hehe.

Bisoprolol for my heart.

I *did* take Lisinopril, but it spiked my Potassium level (to 8 when it was meant to be 3.4-5 apparently) and lowered my blood pressure (which was/is already low) too much, so I got taken off it. I was ill for a while (and ended up getting double pneumonia which nearly killed me), and it wasn't until after that when my cardiologist realized that the tablet was fucking me up. I'm not sure if it could have even contributed to me getting pneumonia (or made me less able to fight it).

It's in the Metroid "God Tier" along with Prime IMO. Best 2D and 3D Metroid respectively.

Metroid samus returns > super metroid

Ultimately, it depends on what you look for in a Metroid game, so I'm not going to disagree too strongly.

I personally place the structure and level design above pretty much everything else, which is why I like Super so much. SR has too many "hard locks" for my liking (e.g. you can't go here unless you kill X Metroids), which greatly reduce the open-endedness and replayability. Return of Samus had the same issue of course (AM2R rectifies it somewhat, so I prefer it to both). Super, on the other hand, has so many different sequence breaks and advanced techniques to try that it keeps me coming back for more. If you add in randomizer runs, the replay value is nearly infinite.

I came across some blog posts a few months back that sum up many of the reasons I like the game so much: https://nickkooy.blogspot.com/2011/05/20-reasons-why-super-metroid-is.html

D (at least with fewer >s).

I love Echoes and think it improves on 1 in some respects (e.g. bosses), but still consider 1 the best Prime game.

The main reason is the structure, which you mentioned. 1 has fewer "hard" locks (i.e. where the story rather than your / the character's skills impede progress). Also, 1 lets you find the keys at any point (provided you can get to them), whereas 2 only lets you get them after a certain point in the story.

As for the planets they take place on, Aether feels more alien to me, but I find Tallon IV more interesting for some reason. Maybe I just like the familiarity of having a "green" area, a snowy area, a hot area, etc. It's not really a coincidence that the Phazon Mines are my least favorite area in 1. Aside from the wonky difficulty (particularly the first save point being too far away), I'm not a fan of the aesthetic.

In terms of the puzzles and power-ups, 2 probably is a bit more creative if I'm being honest. The enemies too (including the bosses as I mentioned).

Morrowind, closely followed by New Vegas and San Andreas.

I still need to play Cross. It not being officially released in Europe (as far as I'm aware) is the main reason I haven't, but it shouldn't be that difficult to obtain nowadays.

I'm quite easily pleased when it comes to games, so I doubt any of the supposed flaws will bother me that much. It seems to me that a lot of the complaints are rather superficial if I'm being honest, but each to their own.

Just because it's different doesn't make it any good. Take FF8's junction system. Yeah it's different and unique but it is still complete trash when compared to FF6's Esper or FF7's Materia system.

I agree that drawing magic can be annoying (and that your stats being tied to your magic stock puts you off using magic), but the GF system itself (the part that's most comparable to FF6's Esper system) is pretty good.

It's more flexible than the Esper system in multiple ways (being able to equip multiple GFs, the choice of GF Abilities to learn and then equip, items to customize them, etc.). The GFs and their attacks are pretty damn cool too (I can't say I ever summoned the Espers much in FF6). Also, I hate how the Esper stat bonuses are tied to level-ups. They're more of a pain to keep track of that way.

It's been a while since I've sat and watched a full WW2 documentary series, but I occasionally flick over to them if there's nothing else on. The last one I remember watching was about the Japanese Kamikaze missions.

WW2 stuff is equal parts interesting and harrowing (and sometimes touching). I love learning about it, but much of what went on doesn't bear thinking about.

Being into technology / programming, Alan Turing, Bletchley Park, Enigma, etc. are particularly interesting to me. I watched a documentary a few months back on one of the unsung heroes of Bletchley Park, Gordon Welchman: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_Welchman

It was the first one mentioned in the Legacy section, Bletchley Park: Code-breaking's Forgotten Genius. Looks like the iPlayer link is still in my history (but it's unavailable to watch now, unfortunately): https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b069gxz7

According to it, he conceptualised something similar to the internet (not sure how much of a hand, if anything, he had in actually creating it) and was a pioneer of traffic analysis / cryptography.

Mark Brown is pretty good. He's a bit more positive and constructive than most (i.e. he doesn't bash games to show how how unique he is and how refined his taste is).

As in Lower Norfair? Nah, I don't think so. Ridley is the 4th boss on the big statue. Plus, the game naturally takes you that way (e.g. Gravity Suit letting you move in the lava properly).
