KCF0107 09/04/18 3:22:35 AM #21 | KCF has beaten Teslagrad While not a great game that also starts off on the wrong foot, it definitely grew on me. + Great puzzles based on magnetism + Gorgeous animation helps soften the dreary tone and atmosphere + Backtracking is easy given all the rooms within a few minutes from the main hub - Camera and layout issues will lead to many cheap deaths - If you die, and you will a lot, during a puzzle or boss fight, you have to do the entire room/fight over again - Subsequently, every boss fight pretty much sucks (first one wasn't so bad) due to the combination of lack of checkpoints and their trial & error nature I can understand if those negatives are deal-breakers, because there will be times you are going to be very frustrated. However, I stuck with it, and I came away with plenty more positive than negative feelings toward it. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |

It seems that I need to find more of these scrolls (if the room name indicates what those items are), not thinking that the game's collectibles were a requirement to finish the game. So if anybody else ends up playing Teslagrad with the intent on finishing it, try and grab scrolls that you come across or you might have to backtrack like I will be. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |

Even though everyone is broken and everything sucks When I look at candidates for GM of the Year, I solely look at what they did for the season in question from the offseason through regular season. Your success this season largely stems from moves you made in previous seasons and players just performing like they should have all along, so don't take it personally. It was the same reason why Wiz wasn't a GM of the Year candidate in any of the previous three seasons despite finishing as the top NFC team in all of them. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |

KCF0107 09/03/18 2:32:58 AM #329 | 10. New York Giants The Giants are basically the NFC Steelers. With how things shook out in the end, the Giants ended up in the middle of the pack in most categories, but the Giants are kind of limping into the playoffs after choking away the division. The D turned things around in the end, and they had a Top 14 D for the 10th straight season, and they will need to lean on that to beat the Falcons on the road in the wild card round because with the way the Falcons' D and Giants' O have been going lately, the Giants won't be scoring many points. 11. Seattle Seahawks Let's all give a hand to the Seahawks and their first playoff appearance. They endured a mid-season injury to Kirk Cousins, signed underwhelming QB Brad Smith, and they still somehow became a playoff team. Now they go on the road to face a hot Cowboys team who have played in three straight SBs. Like most of the teams low in the power rankings, they don't have any particular area that they are elite at that they can reasonably expect will give them playoff success. Just be happy to be in the playoffs and wish the Bears and Pumpkins the best of luck next season! 12. Tennessee Titans An in-depth look at stats show that the Titans' success this season was totally reliant on turnovers as they cratered at the end of the season when the turnover battle didn't go their way. They are the only playoff team with a negative point differential. Stan should just be happy (and he has said as much) that he got his winning record and made the playoffs in the first time since his first season with us. Of course, the Jets should have won their playoff game last season before the Bengals D stymied HB Romance Taylor, so maybe the Titans can wish upon a shooting star for that to repeat this season. In the best case scenario, they get trashed in the divisional round by the Broncos. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |

KCF0107 09/03/18 2:31:27 AM #328 | 6. New York Jets The Jets won the AFC East, so they probably feel slighted that I am giving way more love to the Dolphins than them. And like the Dolphins, this team is getting healthier after being one of the three-most injured teams this season. That being said, the defense has cooled off after a hot start. 17 of the 18 teams to make the SB in B8NFLL has fielded a Top 10 D, so according to historical stats, the Jets have little chance at making a SB after finishing in the teens. However, all 18 SB teams have also fielded top-half rushing attacks, and even with all the injuries, the Jets have rushed very well with whomever has been healthy at the time. They also got what should be an easy first round matchup. The Jets are also a low-turnover team, so while they have some shortcomings on defense, they make up for it in other ways. 7. Atlanta Falcons Of all the division winners, the Falcons probably have the least respect of the bunch. They lost the most players to injury this season, including season-ending injuries to WR Early Doucet and lengthy injuries to many members of its OL and QB Aaron Rodgers. That didn't stop the Falcons as their Top 5 D and HB Lonta Hobbs saw them crush the NFC South en route to a second-straight playoff appearance. They don't have as high of a ceiling as the Rams or Cowboys, but this is a dark horse SB pick based on the criteria of having an elite D and excellent running attack. 8. Pittsburgh Steelers The Steelers don't have a killer strength but they also have no crippling weaknesses either. Yes, Michael Turner did not have a good season, but he still put up nearly 3000 passing yards and the Steelers finished 10-5-1 anyway. Not being elite at anything though makes them a tough sell to pick to win against the Dolphins in the wild card round or Jags/Broncos the following week should they pull off the "upset." 9. Green Bay Packers The #2 seed in the NFC at 9th? You must not have paid attention to the Packers losing five of the final six games. That defense is still as stout as its been all season, but that offense looks lost. QB Tyrod Taylor just four or five weeks ago was sitting third in the NFL with a 90-ish passer rating, but it dropped all the way to 75 by the end of the season. MVP candidate HB Carnell Williams is out for the season. How are the Packers going to score? If games go according to their seeding, they will be facing the Cowboys in the divisional round. I don't have any faith in the Packers if that is the matchup. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |

KCF0107 09/03/18 2:16:33 AM #327 | Playoff Power Rankings 1. Denver Broncos This team is just on fire. You know that they plan to run the ball, but they've got a HB, FB, and QB that can do damage on the ground, making it impossible to gameplan against them. QB Michael Vick was absolutely made for this offense, and the Broncos might laugh all the way to the SB that 31 other teams allowed them to sign him. Vick's TD-INT ratio may not be good, but he's been sneaky accurate when he chooses to pass with the league's second-highest completion %. You can't beat them with your defense. You probably can't beat them with your offense either. That D has been a suffocating force after their 0-2 start. There are several great teams in this AFC playoff field, but the Broncos have been so good that they have to still be the overwhelming favorite to represent the conference in the SB and have the chance to become the first team to win back-to-back SBs. 2. St. Louis Rams The Rams went 15-1 and they enter an NFC playoffs with the weakest crop of 2-6 seeds in recent memory. They have the potential to slaughter everyone in the conference, even to the team that gave them their only loss, the Cowboys. They had a Top 5 O and D, and that was with losing QB Ryan Tannehill and HB Ronnie Brown for stretches through the season. They crushed opposing defenses with backups in QB Charlie Whitehurst and HB Lamar Miller. That offense will wreck each game. The defense was called out before the season for its lack of playmakers, and they responded by having far and away their best defensive season. I have to check, but I think DT John Mixon set a B8NFLL record for sacks in a season, and RFA signee FS Harrison Smith was worth way more than the late 1st and 3rd round picks that they gave up for him. Lost in this is how fantastic their special teams were this season. They are arguably the most complete team, which shouldn't be surprising given their record. You could have him #1 in your power rankings, and I wouldn't object. 3. Miami Dolphins While not as consistent as the #4 team, the fifth-seeded Dolphins had an obscene offensive season with several members up for awards, and that defense went from 20th to 6th in just seven weeks. They are getting healthy and on fire at the perfect time. Only two Wild Card teams have ever made the Super Bowl (S4 Giants and S5 Jets), but the Dolphins are as good of a bet as any to knock off the Broncos. 4. Jacksonville Jaguars The Jags were excellent on offense and defense from start to finish, even as the injuries started to mount. While they don't win as sexy of fashion as the Broncos or Dolphins, the consistency that they've shown all season is what could set them apart from their playoff rivals. 5. Dallas Cowboys What a wild season this has been for the Cowboys, but the stars aligned for them in the final quarter of the season, and here they are hosting a game in the Wild Card round as one of five playoff teams that ended the season with a Top 10 O and D. If they win, they face the fading Packers in the divisional round. A fourth straight NFC Championship appearance seemed like a fantasy just weeks ago, and now that is on its way to becoming reality. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |

KCF0107 09/02/18 11:36:21 PM #309 | General Manager of the Year 1. KCF + Replaced two 90+ OTs with rookies and 2nd-year players who combined to put up 135 blocks against 8 sacks allowed at the OT positions. + Traded up to draft WR A.J. Green who set a B8NFLL rookie record with 12 receiving TDs and is one of two Dolphins rookies up for Off Rookie of the Year. + Made defensive adjustments during its Week 10 bye and went from owning the #20 to the #6 D at the season's end. - Didn't win the division - Lost to the Chiefs - Probably a stale choice 10 seasons into the league 2. MysteriousStan + Earned his first winning record and made the playoffs for the first time since S2 + Signed OT Mike Jones as an injury replacement at G where he finished with 60 blocks against 4 sacks allowed. + Defense finished in the top half of the league for the first time in a long time. - The offense was atrocious (ranked 31st). - Traded away WR Keary Colbert for DE Zach Latimer and signed DE Jamaal Anderson to a mega 7 year deal only for them to combine for 5 sacks and 1 FF. - Traded away HB R.J. Jackson to division rival who had more rushing TDs, receptions, receiving yards, and rushing YPC as a backup than their starting HB did in 16 starts (Marshawn Lynch was also acquired in that very trade). 3. ShatteredElysium + Brought in four new defensive starters and saw his defense finish in the Top 10 (9th) + Traded for former Dolphins OL in RT Kwame Harris and C/G Andy Levitre who combined for 109 blocks against 13 sacks - Gave up a second round pick and gave a 5 year contract to lure QB Michael Turner away from the 49ers only to see him throw the most INTs in the league and recorded the second-lowest passer rating (64.1) among qualified QBs. - Minimal contributions from rookie class 4. SultanOfSlam + Drafted or traded for six players who started games for them who helped them to finish with the #5 O and #1 D. + Added five new members to a secondary that saw four players retire the season before to finish fifth in the NFL in passing yards allowed + Won each trade trade he made after the first season. In one trade, he gave up LT Russell Okung who made 1 start for one of the aforementioned secondary members (CB Tracy Porter) and a draft pick that turned into G Clint Boling (he made four more starts than Okung did). In another, he traded HB Marshawn Lynch and some draft picks for HB R.J. Jackson (see MysteriousStan negative point), DE Barry Turner (3 sacks, 1 FF in 3 starts), DT Billy Walker (helped lead D to #1 run D in a division choc full of talented runners as well as chipped in four sacks). - Uh, he's relatively quiet and doesn't join up for live sims or drafts or anything so we can't circle jerk if he wins - We can go against the spirit of the award and use his poor playoff record against him - Uh, someone else come up with a silly negative since I can't even think of a legit negative? --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |

KCF0107 09/02/18 10:45:24 PM #308 | Comeback Player of the Year 1. Dolphins' HB Jacquizz Rodgers - After losing all but five games last season and the Dolphins choosing to retain Rodgers over the the annual miracle worker Courtney Lewis, the pressure was on Rodgers to prove the Dolphins chose the correct HB to keep. He responded with career highs in rushing yards (1649) and rushing TDs (14 and previous high was 7) to help the Dolphins O be a balanced and powerful one. 2. Steelers' HB Jamario Thomas - Like Rodgers, Thomas missed all but five games last season. While he did not have the rushing TDs or efficiency that Rodgers did, Thomas led the NFL in rushing yards (1786) and had to carry an offense whose QB had the second-worst passer rating among qualified QBs. 3. Lions' SS Lamon Means - Means was completely out of football last season. VI and the Browns went in another direction at SS, and then he entered the FA market for the first time after seven seasons with the Browns and three different users controlling them. The Bucs were his best shot at signing with a team offseason, and they went with Daniel Bullocks, so the then 31-year-old got to watch football from his couch. It didn't appear that he would play this season either until Nee signed him later in free agency. Even though he missed games to injury this season, he did record a career best 4 FFs to go along with 1 sack, 1 INT, and 2 FRs. The Lions were 6-4 in games that he started and 1-5 in games that he did not. 4. Seahawks' FS Madieu Williams - Prior to last season, Williams was one of the few players who had started every 128 B8NFLL game up to that point. The Jets drafted Tyrann Mathieu in the second round, and he lost his starting job. He had two tackles during the season. At 32, his chances of starting again and for a contender seemed grim. When the perennial underachieving Seahawks came in with a trade offer during the draft. It seemed that only one of those boxes would be checked off. 16 starts and a career high 5 INTs later, Williams is the starting FS for a playoff-bound team. 5. Browns' WR Steve Smith - The third player on this list to lose all but five games last season, Smith's season might be the most impressive of the three. It seems weird given the early War seasons had him asking then-Browns QB Aaron Rodgers to throw the ball 50 times a game, but Smith's age 35 and likely final season saw him lead the NFL with a career-high 1309 receiving yards. This all the while catching balls from the always injured and disappointing Sam Bradford, scrambling QB Ryan Perrilloux, and some Geno Smith mixed in there. He might end his career, all with the Browns after a pre-Week 1 inaugural season trade with the Bills, without having played in the AFC Championship game, but he's not going out with a whimper. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |

KCF0107 09/02/18 10:29:30 PM #307 | Breakout Player of the Year 1. Jags DE Cordero Moore - Expected to stay on the bench with the arrival of Barry Turner. Moore was forced to take over Week 4 after Turner suffered a season-ending injury. How did Moore respond to having to replace someone who recorded 3 sacks and a FF in just three games? He finished with an AFC-leading15 sacks, or three more than he had in four seasons entering the year. 2. Wildcats QB Jimmy Clauson - When prof decided to let Michael Vick hit the market, it was expected that he would let former 1st round pick Colin Kaepernick take the reins. Of the 32 starting QBs Week 1, 28 were former 1st round picks, and three were former 2nd round picks? The final one though? That was former 4th round pick Jimmy Clauson whose blistering preseason allowed him to win the starting job and prof didn't take it away from him. Despite being the lowest-rated QB to start Week 1, Clauson led the league in passing yards for the first half of the season and ended with 3161 with more TDs than INTs (17 to 15). 3. Raiders SS Kam Chancellor - Next season was supposed to be the year that Chancellor got his opportunity to make a name for himself. Due to injuries though, he saw the field a lot and while he only started three games, he finished second in the NFL in INTs with 7 and even returned one to the house. His play was one of the driving forces behind the Raiders D carrying the 32nd ranked offense to an 8-8 season. 4. Bears HB Knowshon Moreno - Nobody expected great things from Moreno. He came in with a career 3.7 YPC and more fumbles than TDs as Chris Browns' backup. With the team 1-6 and Chris Brown injured entering their bye, the Bears seemed to be poised for another lousy season. Moreno though made a statement that the next great Bears HB was already on the roster as he bruised his way to 1213 rushing yards and 8 TDs on 4.7 YPC. He had 100 broken tackles on the season, good for 10th in the league. The nine people ahead of him started all 16 of their team's games. Moreno started 7. 5. Steelers OLB Stephon Tulloch - Already on the wrong side of 30, I bet that the virtual Steelers fans didn't have high hopes for stud OLB Lavar Arrington's replacement this season. He not only set career bests in tackles (88) and sacks (4), but after entering the season with a combined 5 FFs + FRs through seven seasons, the former Redskins 7th round pick put up a whopping 8 (four of each) in his eighth season in the league. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |

KCF0107 09/02/18 8:51:06 PM #302 | End-of-Season Season Awards The following posts will contain all the awards that will be given out this season. While participation is optional, I encourage you to take 15 minutes or so out of your life to pick out your choices for each category and submit them to me via PM before the deadline. Most of the awards are from the game itself. There are a few that are entirely of my creation. The former awards will have both a User and Madden winner while the later will solely have a User winner. The nominees for awards from the game will come from the game itself with maybe a handful of exceptions. To not spoil who Madden chose for each award, I will reveal who was a replacement choice when the winners are revealed. New this season will be a fixed but extended choice of nominees for MVP, Offensive Player, and Defensive Player. Up until last season, the pool of nominees for all awards (with GM of the Year being an occasional exception) was always five. Last season at a user's request, I let anyone choose anyone from applicable lists for those awards, and the majority did not like that. This season, I will compromise and make those three awards contain 10 nominees each. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg |
