I wish ZTD had a bit more colorful character designs. Something in the vein of 999 (or even a bit tamer) would be nice. VLR went ham with K, Flintstones!Clover, nudist Alice, and giant hat Quark (did they sack the character designer? wouldn't really surprise me). In ZTD everyone is so bleak and pedestrian. You can cosplay them and be unrecognized. It's just such an extreme departure that I'm a bit...lost for words.

Tsumugi is pretty nice to have as one of the more normal characters, like Mahiru from DR2. Tsumugi is best girl.

Well...I actually really, really like Kaede too, but probably many other people would pick her as well so I'll throw Tsumugi a bone.

Also Kokichi is very weird, until today I still can't decide if I like him or not. At least he wasn't boring. And less annoying than both Komaeda and Byakuya.

Now, here's the "thing" (I'm sorry): I don't think the 2011 Thing movie is actually that bad. It just has one glaring problem: The Thing itself. I don't think it really looks that great here. A bad CGI abomination compared to the awesome practical effects of the original movie. It absolutely does not carry the same weight to it. It's presence just doesn't as real. With the use of CGI, also comes the irresistible urge to reveal the monster more and more, which is completely antithetical to the concept of the Thing, built on paranoia and distrust as literally anyone or anything could be this alien creature.

I'm not saying it's all bad though, as I actually like that scene I showed up above, especially when the two faces combine into each other. I'm just saying The Thing as portrayed in the 2011 film is a different, less scarier beast than in the original Carpenter classic. It's a more typical violent alien that places body count over psychological assimilation. If you prefer that style, more power to you, but Carpenter's Thing will also reign supreme in my eyes.

Yeah that's a fair assessment. I wish they'll make another The Thing film with more practical effects. I'm glad that seemingly people are clamoring for less bad CGI and more combination of practical effects + CGI and more film makers are listening to us.

I can still recall the disappointment when I discovered this wasnt going to be a series about lesbian skaters. The series was announced without any details as to what it was about, so a lot of people figured it might be that sort of yuri, before the official reveal arrived. Thankfully, it was still a damn good show! Basically every aspect is excellent. The cast is very good, without getting too bloated like some sports shows seem to. Victor and Yuri make for an excellent pair of core protagonists. Yuri 2 is not so great, but the side cast is cool as well, so hes mostly not that big a deal. Both of them have great individual development, and their relationship with each other is the highlight of the show. The story progress is very well done, with each episode having something interesting going on and also further developing the overall plot. The music is probably one of the things that elevate the show I didnt realize until later that all the songs they use are original. They feel like something that would be used in a real skating routine. And the animation is fantastic as well. The skating routines look ultra good, for the most part. Might have to say its the best-looking sports show out there, though Haikyuus pretty close. There were two main things that annoyed me, unfortunately. First, the last episode is bad. The animations bad, everythings rushed, the relationship stuff doesnt work, etc. Feels like a crappy ending. Second, the show is irritatingly non-commital with Yuri and Victors relationship. They say they love each other, they kiss, they exchange engagement rings, etc., but the show still acts like maybe they arent dating and they never kiss on screen for some reason. This is the sort of thing that annoys me with yuri teasing too, but their relationship was such a huge part of the show that it felt more pronounced here. Maybe the sequel will go further? Or maybe the OVA already did? I never watched the OVA, so I dunno whats in it.

Yeah, it's never really made clear, but it's in part from the writer and in part from the production committee, I guess? I get the feeling they're testing the water in case there's backlash. But obviously the fans - both hardcore and casual - are more supportive of the Victuuri relationship than anything, so there's hope for S2.

Its been great! Two weeks for my honeymoon, but I wish it couldve been longer. Weve stayed in Canggu, Lovina, Ubud, and Amed, but unfortunately our flight back home leaves in about six hours. One more spa and were outta here! Really great place though, and just the nicest people. Well be back for sure.

Oh that sounds great! I'm glad you had a good time. There's a lot of spots in Bali and around (and all over Indonesia but then it's an adventure lol) that one can go there multiple times and see something new.
