They're not adding any additional games post launch, there will be different games depending on the content, no analog sticks and you can't use original PS1 controllers in general.

I lost interest after learning all of this.

I don't care about not being able to use original PS1 controllers, but the lack of an analog stick sours me. Granted, most PS1 games were form-fitted for the d-pad anyways, so it's not a huge issue.

Finally played a bit more. Just got to the all girls school and went to a dungeon north of there before quitting. There was a town to the south i think i might go to first before continuing in the dungeon

I usually explore all the overworld and towns I can before delving into dungeons. I'm where you are right now. I just made a Queen's Whip +3 for that quest at the school, and I'm _so_close to a Falcon Sword. Dragon Quest normally balances light-hearted and whimsical fare with very dark and macabre subject matter. There have been countless deaths, cities destroyed, petrifications, towns frozen over, etc etc.

However, this is the first entry in the series where I can actually say I have seen a literal suicide. I'm kind of shocked by it. I kept expecting one of the other characters to pull this character back from doing it, but they went and did it anyways.

It's even easier to save scum in this game, thanks to auto-saving. It auto-saves whenever you Zone, and you just happen to zone right into the casino. Yes, you do have your bank roll of coins when you exit the casino.

I just beat Tentacular on hard mode. Grinding to level 28 and having foreknowledge of his relative weakness to sleep made it a hell of a lot easier of a fight. He has a fuck a lot of HP, though. 5 people leveled on him, though.

There's a handy little island just north of The Strand, where at level 26, the enemies aren't too weak to me to XP off of. This is nice. This is the first real grinding that I'm able to do in the game as a result of Draconian mode.

I finally beat this game for the first time a few weeks ago. Felt pretty good to dust off my old Currier and pretty much complete all of the content in it. I may go back to it and get another ending. I went with the NCR ending.

What do I do with the crossbow?

You can aggro enemies from afar, but its true purpose is for the crossbow minigame. Seek out a bodkin archer that's near a campsite (the first campsite you come across after leaving Gallopolis to the west should have one), and he'll tell you to go to seek his master in Gallopolis. He'll tell you about the minigame with the crossbow, in which you seek out and destroy 5 targets at range in each zone with your crossbow. You get rewards should you find all of them.
