I just finished watching BanG Dream! Comparing it to the other music anime I've seen, it wasn't anywhere near as good as Love Live Sunshine, but I honestly enjoyed it a little bit more than the original Love Live. The BanG Dream girls didn't have quite as fun of a group dynamic (which probably wasn't even possible anyway since they only had five members, not nine) but Kasumi was awesome and more than made up for any shortfalls. I love high energy, positive characters like her. I also appreciated how the story approached the occasional drama. It always felt logical and earned rather than forced.

After slowly watching through it for awhile, I finally finished the second season of Kiniro Mosaic. I thought it was great! The five main girls played off of each other well, and it was impressive how even the long-running gags were always delivered in ways that were fresh enough to earn a grin.

I fucking hated Mahiro so goddamn much. The parts with him stabbing Nyarko with a fork were some of the worst shit I've ever seen in anime. Could only make it through two episodes.

I often have a problem with abusive violence (how many arguments have I had with Leonhart about Agate smacking a little girl in Trails in the Sky) but I don't mind comedic violence like this, especially when that fork is the only thing keeping him from getting sexed to death by an eldritch horror! Lots of anime have comedic slaps that send someone across the room, for example. As long as it isn't portrayed as abusive I can appreciate it for the joke that it is.

I just finished the first season of Nyarko-san: Another Crawling Chaos. I'm a big fan of Lovecraft so once I finally learned there was an anime inspired by it, it got pushed all the way to the top of my list. Given that eldritch inspiration, a harem comedy certainly wasn't what I was expecting. Still, I really enjoyed it! I'm sure this is something that a lot of people would hate because of its semi-annoying comedic style and Nyarko being so crazy, but to me it was tons of fun. I love high-energy characters like Nyarko, and I actually really like what it did with the harem dynamic. Kuuko obsessing over Nyarko rather than the (purposefully) bland protagonist led to a lot of hilarious moments. I feel like they could've done more with the Lovecraft aspects, which were mostly limited to references (Carcosa Computer Entertainment was great, though) but I still enjoyed catching those as well. Hopefully the second season keeps up this quality.

I watched the movie Expelled from Paradise today because apparently it's being taken off of Netflix tomorrow. I thought it was okay, it had a lot of cool sci-fi ideas and some neat mecha combat. The CGI was also pretty good. Still, some plot elements felt rushed and the characters didn't have a lot of time to grow. I suppose that's an inevitable downside to movies due to the shorter runtime, which is why I prefer series. I'm glad I watched it while it was still available, though!
