TopicIs not enough money, the biggest complaint you have in your life right now?

EclairReturns posted...
No, that's actually the area of my life that I would complain least about. I have a stable job and financial aid that always leaves me a lot of money. I always have more money every time I pay that damned American tuition than when I paid the previous semester's tuition. I'm very grateful to have a mother who will let me live in her and her husband's house, because I hate this state's expensive studio apartments that even with my pay, cannot afford. At the same time, I always find myself hating myself because both my parents are turning old, and I really should be living in my own house about now. I hate that they still work in their advanced age to pay, while I should be helping in that endeavor myself. But neither my mom nor my father let me do so, anyway, which makes me feel all spoiled and crap. All the while, I struggle to keep an even mind during the weekends because of the lack of social interaction, which leaves me more time with thoughts and memories that give me bad anxiety, in addition to the shame that I already feel for living in their house rent-free, not being allowed to pay for anything. Then during the week, I just feel really freakin' exhausted from school and work and stuff, and then I worry about how I'm sometimes late to work and how that might get me fired someday, even though no one ever reprimands me for it (I'm dead serious when I say that everyone just acts normally if I'm like thirty minutes late to work). The last time I texted my boss that I was gonna be about thirty minutes late, he didn't respond, and didn't even react when I got there. He's just all normal and I'm here freaking out about why the hell he isn't scolding me. Anyway, sometimes I'm really exhausted and tired from the previous night, being unable to sleep due to the thoughts that keep me awake, to the point that I wake up late, and am thus unable to arrive on-time to work. I mean, I can rush out of the house for school, but I can't even do the same for work, and it really bothers me where my priorities are. Like, they give me this job, and I pay them back by arriving to work late? What the hell is wrong with me? Seriously, I'm exhausted from just a part-time job and a part-time school schedule, and I really have no reason to complain because so many other people have it harder than me. Then I just feel like a child because I personally don't even know these people, and thus don't even care for their troubles. I only care about me and my own troubles. And then I feel shame for being childish and selfish and crap. I'm complaining about my very privileged life, and mildly taxing work/school schedule, while both my parents work in their advanced age to support me and my family. I really think that's freakin' messed up, and I just feel nothing but feel shame whenever I feel exhausted, and uncaring for what they must do. Seriously, I really think there's something wrong with me. "Oh, boo-hoo, I feel shame and mild exhaustion, despite having no actual problems!" That's nothing compared to actual real-world problems that my parents have had for like thirty bloody years. I really have no reason to hate my life, but I do so anyway. And I just think I'm really messed up, and in more ways than what I've described in this paragraph.

You know, you can break thoughts up in into separate paragraphs. It's *very* easy. In fact, you can do it just like this >_>

While you talk about making enough, if you're forced to live with your folks, you're kinda not making enough. Granted, few people expect college students to cover everything on their own. That said, a lot of your described anxiety might be relieved if you were making enough to not depend on your folks.

Otherwise, if you're dealing with chronic exhaustion (particularly due to anxiety), it *might* be a sign of depression. You should probably avail yourself of whatever free counseling services your school provides.

Actually, that kinda inspires some *other* things I'd love to see in film:

Bone - Which *might* be getting a film, but they've dragged their feet
Turok
Savage Dragon - Which probably would work better as a tv show... partly because he had a show
The Tick (although it has a tv show again, which makes that unlikely)

tbh, I've just used my cellphone to check the time for decades now. For a while, I had a kind of watch which clipped onto my belt loop (never been fond of wearing them on the wrist) but, between needing to change the batteries and having a cell phone, I finally just stopped using it altogether.

Do you favor actual watches more for style or because you find it more convenient to check your wrist for the time?

Also a lot of coke in glass bottles is from Mexico where they use cane sugar as the sweetener since it is cheaper for them than corn syrup, and it tastes better

Which, tbh, is thanks to less government intervention. The US has federal subsidies on corn and iirc tariffs on foreign cane sugar. Given that HFCS is also less healthy than sugar (the extent to which is debatable and may also vary depending on consumption rates), it's government intervention which makes the country sicker (and, of course, gives us a worse-tasting product)

Native americans are the most oppressed and genocided race on the planet.

Well, no, considering that their extermination has never been as systemic and racially-based as other actual genocides. And today they're not the most oppressed group, since we have actual genocides currently being carried out in parts of the world, including Myanmar.

Zikten posted...
they make up like less than 5% of the country's population and most of them are not even pure native anymore.

There are quite a few problems there. First off, the majority of Native Americans were wiped out *prior* to European westward expansion thanks to disease (the bulk of which unintentionally came from settlers, although biological weapons *were* used later on). Second, it's not merely a matter of a shrinking Native population, but instead massive immigration and higher birthrates among the immigrated peoples. Third, on the issue of racial purity, there's nothing inherently wrong with mixed race marriages and it's not like there was a policy in place promoting "breeding the Native out" of them, unlike Australia which literally did that as recently as the the 1930s or 1940s.

Granted, there WAS some attempts at extermination by the Federal government -- forced sterlization, for instance (which, as always, is one reason why you should be wary when the government offers you "free" anything -- they've sterlized and experimented on communities they claimed they had come to help), although the impact was more limited and covert than other programs.

John Stewart (instead of giving us Hal or Kyle >_>)
Vixen
Huntress
Static (Granted, Black Lightning may preempt him given that he's *another* black guy with electric powers)
Batman Beyond

Plus Deadshot was supposedly going to get a solo film at one point. And -- jumping back to Marvel -- not quite a solo movie, but I'd like to see either Jubilee Wolverine team-up film or a Jubilee X-23 team-up film.

Doesn't sound like it.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/19/us/politics/trump-new-hampshire-opioid-plan.html

The plan the president described, which was based on recommendations by an opioid commission the president appointed last year, has the goal of reducing the supply of illicit drugs with better interdiction and tougher penalties, reducing opioid prescriptions and overall demand for opioids, and expanding access to treatment and recovery tools like the overdose-reversing drug naloxone.

The plan seeks to cut the number of opioid prescriptions filled by a third within three years, a restriction that will face opposition from critics who argue it could have unintended consequences for people with chronic and even acute pain, and that it instead could force some users to seek more dangerous drugs, like heroin and synthetic fentanyl.

The plan:
1) Reduces the amount of prescriptions
2) Offers treatments for addicts
3) Increases preventative education
4) Ups potential penalties for high-volume traffickers

Also I should note that even the *early* GBA-SPs (AGS-001) were frontlit instead of back. The backlit ones (AGS-101) are harder to find and tend to be far more expensive. Honestly, the frontlit ones work well enough.

I have no clue what happened to you by the context, but it's worth noting that screen names were taken from inactive accounts although you'd still have access to the account itself and would need to pick a new name on log-in. Otherwise, if you create a new character, of course you won't have stuff.

He shouldn't be charged. He was given bad information from dispatch where he was told that he was responding to an armed & dangerous assailant who had poured petrol in the house so, when the suspect ignored orders, he was given every reason to open fire.

There are 3 individuals directly responsible for this incident: the person who placed the swatting call, the person who commissioned the swatting call, and the guy who gave the address knowing that it would be swatted. Having heard the tape iirc, it's possible that dispatch may have been negligent but you have to investigate these tips all the same.

He should be in prison for at least 10 years, instead he's being protected by the police.
Then the cop defenders claim there's only a few "bad apples." No, every single officer supports this thin blue line bs, and thus are also bad apples.
If you or I helped cover up a murder, we'd go to jail.

...what?

No, i think the person who called in the swatting prank should be charged with manslaughter and imprisoned.

...while we're at it, why not also charge the dispatcher who put the cop in that situation? After all, shouldn't they have exercised more discretion by that logic?

I'm surprised about the mostly lukewarm attitude towards 8. I thought it would be polarizing.

It sucked, but not terribly. And it's hard to hate the game that gave us Triple Triad.

This isn't even his final form. He's going to revert back to his old shape but be far stronger.
