This topic reminded me of that time I watched the early Eurovisions out of curiosity, then began to rank the songs and made like one topic with my worst-to-best of 1956 with brief reviews. Now I wonder should I continue with that or not. I mean, there are some real gems in the older Eurovisions that could do with some exposure.

I'll give it a fair thought. I'll have to listen to each song again, even the bad ones. Blergh. The first few years are pretty terrible, to be honest. Oh well, it's probably worth it for hearing good ones.

You can fast forward past the bad ones.

My personal 1 to 12 scores (plus the dishonorary worst song trophy) is skewed if I don't have the endurance and determination to subject myself to some bad songs. Sticking to that will also make me appreciate the good songs more as well. But hey, come to think of it, maybe you could some day compile a list of your worst-to-best Swedish Eurovision songs?

Just how I understand it...

Helsinki region: if they're from Espoo (a city immediately to the west) they're rich suburbanites. If they're from Helsinki, they're liberal hippies. If they're from east Helsinki however, they're uncivilized riffraff. No one lives to the north. That's where the wolves are.

Southwest Finland: snobbish Swedish Finns, and Finns who speak a ridiculous dialect and become easily confused.

Central Finland: slow-witted jokels whose favorite food is a sausage made of blood.

West Finland: isolated conservative holy rollers.

East and Southwest Finland: Karelians who regularly cross the border to Russia for cheap gas and booze, and easygoing and friendly Savonians who never give a straight answer to anything.

Lapland: ski resorts, Santa's home, and during the summer months, a hundred thousand billion trillion mosquitos per square meter.

land: it's that sort-of country between Finland and Sweden where no one is Finnish and don't speak Finnish but they're still Finnish except they're Swedishand are fishermen.

Point #2 is suspect as shit, but I actually agree that we could do more to help rehabilitate people who have pedophilic urges but have not & will not act on them.

Just a guess, but #2 could be referring to depictions that doesn't involve real children, such as drawings and CGI.

That cleric being Gulen? I think that was his name. Erdogan has been blaming him for the coup attempt a few years back. It's very likely he's being a scapegoataed simply due to Gulen being Erdogan's mortal enemy. Amusingly enough, Gulen and Erdogan used to be close allies, until Gulen started disagreeing with Erdogan's shift toward authoritarianism. It's fair to say that were Gulen taken back to Turkey, he'd be found dead in his jail cell of "natural causes" long before he'd stand for trial.

I'm pretty sure automated cars are an inevitability, but to think that manual driving will be banned? That's kind of Orwellian, and horribly depressing. I mean, if driving will be banned, then will also non-automatic cars be banned? What about motorbikes? Will those be still cool? If so, and driving cars is regrettably banned, I'll gladly learn how to drive a motorbike. There's a special kind of joy and freedom in driving a vehicle that cannot be replaced by idly sitting in a self-driving car. If I want to do that, I take the public transport. Speaking of which, I prefer riding my bicycle instead of taking the bus anyhow, because... well, driving is more fun!

Not me, but uh... Today, I finished second in Montreal, in a full-length grand prix, with a Stewart, in the PS1 game Formula F1 97. How's this relevant? I dunno. I don't think anyone else but me even cares, really. I've also watched a bunch of short stories on Youtube about the F1 teams Andrea Moda, Life, Forti, and about to watch another short story about that grand prix in 1996 when only three cars crossed the finish line. Oh, I also regularly watch a series where a Romanian plays a game mod to compete in each F1 grand prix ever since 1950. He's up to the year 1963 now.

But uh yeah, nobody cares.

I don't know what exactly appeals me in the 80's style music. Maybe it's the steady but not too fast percussion, the echoy feel, and the prominent use of synthesizers. It creates a feeling that is almost otherworldly, probably because it's so different from the typical mainstream music.
