Because any attempts to deflate (or even simply not raise) the ridiculous budget the military gets would immediately be turned into an attack on the troops, despite the fact the military simply has no idea what to do with all the money they get. We have to change the public perception of fetishizing the military before we can depend on politicians on either side to properly address their budget.

The worst part is that there are aspects of the military that need big-time money and fixing (VETERANS), so depending on the aspect you look at, the case could be made that more budget is needed.

Anyway, you do what everyone else does when finding out what to watch: you either go to the entertainment sites and see what they say is good or you wait for your friends to watch something and recommend it.

Being nice is not enough. You're not remarkable if you're nice. You're not memorable.

You have to mean something to the woman you're pursuing. Whether that's as a provider of security, of excitement, or of support.

Sometimes it doesn't take much. Sometimes having a good body or a fancy accent is enough. Sometimes the two of you just click, but relationships require effort. Being nice is quite frankly the minimum of effort.

For those of you who haven't read it yet, "Born a Crime" is Daily Show anchor Trevor Noah's story of his life growing up in apartheid and post-apartheid South Africa as a "colored person", neither "white" nor "fully black African". It's an awesome read, in my opinion.

Lupita Nyong'o just announced this week that she wants to produce a film adaptation of the story, just so long as she gets to play the part of Trevor's mother, a pivotal person in his life growing up.

Topicwhy do republicans believe so many conspiracy theories?
CyricZ

Because it makes life more interesting.

Republicans, and really conservatives in general, like to focus their reality, their "world" around a very localized area. It's part of what makes them conservative. Whether it's their household, their town, their county, or their state, or even their country. It's not that they can't fathom a world outside of their own reality, it's just that they don't *want* to. It's the idea of "I've lived here all my life. I'm likely *going* to live here for the rest of my life. What business is it of mine what goes on outside my personal borders?"

Imagining the "world outside" as a strange, incomprehensible, black box that they don't really care to understand leaves them vulnerable to making up stories about other places in their heads, or having those stories fed to them and buying into them. Not only does it provide a distant bit of interesting "info" that they can be entertained by, but it also reinforces the idea that there's nothing for them "out there".

For someone to look out their window, see a quiet neighborhood, and be like "Wow, I've got it really good here in this town" and turn on the TV and see "War, terrorism, crime, strange cultures" is the kind of attitude that feeds into conservatism, and also nationalism.

Even if someone could actually make the mech, it'd usually be wildly impractical to actually have in a convention. Every convention has someone who brings a large cosplay, like the dude who made a hydralisk and then an archon at Otakuthon two years in a row, and they need so much space to just get around. You'd need a friend who is dedicated to helping you get in and out of costume just to take a piss and you'd never actually get anywhere because you're constantly stopped for pictures.

If you make a large and ungainly cosplay, you're not going to the con (at least at that moment) to get in lines and go to panels. You're going there to show off your cosplay, likely for only a couple of hours at the most. Then you take it off, put it back in storage, and enjoy the rest of the show either in civvies or a more travel-able cosplay.

Sometimes even a big weapon is enough to make the cosplay unsuited for travel. You just gotta know what you're getting in for and don't expect to do the whole show if you can't travel.

Banjo2553 posted...
Even if this is a fake news story, it's basically true anyway. This is what cosplaying has boiled down to anyway and it's sad. Why spend so much time and effort into making an accurate cosplay when you can just get a mass-produced D.Va helmet, dye your hair brown, put on some facepaint on your cheeks and pose with nothing else and get the same or better results?

Again, if you want to judge people for how they cosplay, that's your business. For my money, if people want to go simple, buy their outfit, show off skin, or go bananas, that's all fine. As long as you're having fun, more power to you.

Honestly, I'd ask you to submit your latest cosplays if you feel yourself fit to judge.

...

The only issue I've ever had with cosplayers is drama. I've heard of friends getting involved in drama shit over the years but only was exposed to it this past January. I went to MAGFest as Dio from Virtue's Last Reward and a woman there wanted to get me involved in a photo shoot with other VLR cosplayers. I noticed I recognized her and wanted to talk to my own local cosplay friends about it. One of them said "This woman is horrible, I've got some serious bad blood with her, and if you end up doing a shoot with her, I don't know if we can be friends anymore."

On the one hand, it's just a freaking shoot. On another, I do like this person and her friends. They're good people, and I've hung out with them and I KNOW they've had some bad experiences that can border upon emotional trauma. The other lady I don't really know from Adam. I chose to save a friendship rather than get my picture taken that day.

People can cosplay as whoever they want however they want. I'm in no position to judge.

I mean the first thing that tipped me off was the near-nudity of the woman which would not have been shown on any local news station.

Anyway, as to the subject, it's always a matter of opinion. I'd hope that major conventions, and even minor conventions, would have some degree of respect for the craft that they would look past who showed the most skin.

As for online polls and websites, who cares.

Uh, sort of. It's more like:

Entrepreneur: Man, this idea I have is great! Now... how do I make it, make money off it, make sure I'm making it the best I can?

Consultant: I can help with that. I can help you refine your product, or help you get the right people you need to refine your product. I can help market and sell your product, or maybe I can help you meet all the requirements you're going to need for this product.

No one consultant can be all that, but basically the point of a consultant is to help people that "don't know what they don't know". That seems kinda funny to say, but basically it's filling in knowledge gaps where people aren't aware of there being gaps.

For example, my job is an environmental, health, and safety consultant. My role for my clients is to look at the things they do and basically tell them: "This is what you have to do to fall under federal, state, and municipal regulations" "Furthermore, if you like, I can train your employees, I can supply you with safety equipment, I can manage any waste you create, I can reach out to government organizations to get in touch with people about any issues you might be having."

But that's just one facet of consulting. There's financial consulting, organizational consulting, all kinds, really. In the end, it will come down to innate talents that you have to provide answers to questions that they didn't even know they should be asking.

It's so transparently meant to be a scary fear-mongering description of firearms. No one wants war but sometimes it is necessary. But now you might be wondering, why the hell are we talking about the concept of war? Because deceitful leftists made up another dumb buzzword to further spread a moral panic.

Calling firearms "weapons of war" is a misnomer especially within the context of a shooting spree. These are not wars. It is a massacre of defenseless people. And no, the victims are not casualties of a war.

*drops mic*

I can't be the only that noticed that you didn't answer my question, so I'll reword it and give you another try. If you don't call guns "weapons of war" then what do you call them?

Guns were designed for war. From the very beginning with the Chinese inventions of black powder and the fire lance. Do not deny or excuse or attempt to sugar coat it. I'd respect you more if you actually owned up to it.

Aww, but it makes guns sound scary! Guess what, guns can be fucking scary! That's kind of the point! A portable machine that allows you to pull a small lever and deal lethal force is scary! Firearms demand fear and respect by their very nature.

For crying out loud, at least own that much about a firearm. The fact that you don't suggests insecurity in your own argument.
