The goofiness is often part of the charm. Speaking of stuff that aged badly, I'm surprised by how awful Hercules TLJ and Xena look now. Granted, a lot of the problem is the heavily-dated CGI.

tbh, Ant-Man is one of the few Marvel movies I kinda kick myself for not watching when it might have briefly been on NFI. It looks like a lot of fun. Then again, I'm one of the only people on the planet who enjoyed NFI's Iron Fist so...

Just find it elsewhere to watch it. The 2nd one comes out in June I think.

That is what made wonder woman so amazing, as she is another hero I have never been a big fan of, but I really liked that movie.

She was also great in JL btw.

I will give ant man another shot some day, it wasn't horrid or made me want to leave (like black panther), it just didn't grab my attention either, mediocre is what I would call it.

I haven't watched it yet. They should have probably not separated the movie universe from the TV universe though. Also I will never agree with them removing Martian Manhunter for Cyborg. That's just moronic.

Only saw the first season of SGU, but I really enjoyed it and only didn't bother with season two because I knew it got cancelled. Didn't see the point in getting invested.

I hope someone picks Stargate up again because I think it's brilliant.

SG Universe was tough for me to get into but I enjoyed it after getting past the third or so episode. I feel its meant for fans who enjoy the SG lore but wanted more suspense and human drama. I actually felt disappointed when the series ended where it did.

Nobody should ever settle for good enough. If an entire budget is going into a feature length film, it better have some quality stuff in it, and tell a good narrative, even if that narrative is roughly the same as the original.

Nina gets, like, 5 minutes in the entire movie. Nina. Think about it. One of the early turning points of the series, that gave the main characters a look at what they could be, and who serves as an emotional pin to which we can connect to the characters... gets 5 minutes. But her death is treated in a way that were supposed to be sad about it.

(I don't know how he sounds now, but there was awhile back when I still watched him that he did let his accent through to prove a point, and he seemed to be letting loose a bit and letting it out more often.)

- The thing about how I PERSONALLY cannot tell the difference between buttmonkeys and eloquence in Anime/Games is subjective, not objective. BUT, as reminded millions of times by sub elitists, in their own words, voice acting is a huge deal there and they train for it much like western radio. It goes without saying that yeah, that's what it seems like to me. And I said as much in my post; I never claimed that part was fact; I even said things like "to me" and "I think."

1) You've clearly never even watched an anime with multiple characters talking at once. It's easy to do. The subtitles are just separated while above the main ones.

2) That's still false since you didn't back it up. You came in with anecdotal "evidence" instead.

9 times out of 10 I really hate Japanese VA's, they are usually extremely annoying, obnoxious and just plain dumb casting roles, like how Goku, a young to middle aged man is voiced by a 70 something year old woman, wtf.

But there are a select few games/shows with horrid English VA's that make me want to switch to JPN voices, like FFXV.

Yeah Goku is the shittest one. Edward Elric is also bad. The dubs (minus the censorship for DB) are better.

In games, I've begun to only buy dubbed. No exceptions. And it has NOTHING to do with reading, to whomever decided to make that the reason on the poll of the day - I'm calling you out on your sub elitism.

Why? Simple:

-You can't subtitle every last battle cry in a video game. You actually physically can't in team battles where several people are talking at once. Considering that this banter can be plot-relevant depending on the battle, and adds so much personality to the characters, you're actually missing out on content if you can't understand Japanese and aren't playing a dub.

- Let's look at Western Radio for a moment: So many Radio personalities sound the same and talk the same because that's how they're trained; it's easier to edit that typical radio voice than, say, a Brooklyn or Texas accent. Japanese voice actors, to me, also kind of all sound very similar, much like western radio, and I do think this might be due to the emphasis they have on training everyone in the same system. When I have access to both the sub and dub of an anime, I'll watch the first few episodes of both to compare them, and it's downright jarring to see an obvious buttmonkey speaking so similarly to an eloquent, classier character. In a dub, the voice actors have more freedom, and it lends a much more varied feel to it.

- As someone who isn't from an eastern culture, I'm used to women who talk naturally and don't elevate their pitches because it's expected in many eastern cultures, and not just Japan. When a grown woman in anime or a game has a higher pitched voice than my 4 year old niece on helium, I cringe. I cringe so, SO hard. My blood boils every time some sub elitist says that they hate dubs because women sound like men. Gee, I'm sorry that you have so little respect for women that you expect them to alter their pitch just to appease you, and that says FAR more about YOU than it does about DUBS.

- The negative impressions left by sub elitists. If it wasn't obvious from the overall tone of my entire post, I am completely fed up with the mental gymnastics dub haters go through to come up with excuses to justify why they act like complete jerks, and that negativity does spill over into feeling negatively about the media I'm consuming, if it meets their preferenes. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a preference, and you don't need to justify a preference. The issue comes from the downright abuse that stems from attempts to bash anyone else for having a different preference.

None of those happen except sub elitists hating dubs.
