Well this is obviously only because the company is Chinese. No other reason why so many different government organizations would say something about it.

We have a tricky relationship with China, given that their history of government-sponsored cyber-attacks against our companies and citizens in order to steal trade secrets as well as their pretty open copyright violations which include almost-directly copying some of our companies cars. Because they're a large trading partner and a manufacturing hub, we tend to promote caution rather than try to fix these issues. Particularly, it seems like US is worried about China building up networks to gain even easier access to US data, which probably isn't unwarranted.

That was my point. It was obvious they're not worried about safety issues and just want less people helping the Chinese economy.

These are specifically products sold by Chinese companies so, if anything, it HELPS the corporations by discouraging foreign competition.

Do you honestly believe that anybody is fooled by your transparent cover for your self-admitted and rather deliberate ignorance on this subject? You can just admit your mistake instead of trying to spin it into a ridiculous attack.

This is literally the headline from the article:
A $229 smartphone just launched, and the US government doesn't think you should buy it

It goes on to detail the security issues, including the third bullet point which spells it out:
U.S. intelligence agencies have warned against purchasing phones from Huawei.

However, your post is "U.S. Government doesn't want citizens buying Chinese products." which is a clickbait title so deceptive that even Duckbear would blush.

TyVulpine posted...

What's funny is you didn't read anything. Especially since, among other stupid problems with your stupid post, this doesn't even have anything to do with Trump:

Last month, leaders from the CIA, FBI and NSA, and the director of national intelligence, said private citizens in the U.S. shouldn't buy phones from Chinese smartphone makers including Huawei and ZTE.

[...]

"We're deeply concerned about the risks of allowing any company or entity that is beholden to foreign governments that don't share our values to gain positions of power inside our telecommunications networks," FBI Director Chris Wray testified during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing in mid-February. Wray also said that the devices give Chinese smartphone makers access or even "control" over the U.S. telecommunications system and "provides the capacity to maliciously modify or steal information" and "conduct undetected espionage."

Given that it's the INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES pushing for this, it's pretty fucking obvious that the primary concern is security. They're not involved in economic issues. More importantly, your comment fails to address your deceptive clickbait based around your ridiculous, unfounded conspiracy theory.

Trump is in the discussion, stop deflecting for him. He, as president, is part of the government. And he continues to urge Americans to buy domestic. Are you seriously that blind? Take off the blinders and remove the earplugs. And yes, as President, he is the head of all three agencies. He has the authority to fire anyone, even the agencies directors if he chooses.

In the discussion how, exactly? The topic at hand has literally nothing to do with Trump. At all. It also has nothing to do with a blanket attack against Chinese products, unlike what Revelation tried to deceptively claim. And your circular reasoning -- justified that Trump is also in government -- is flat-out stupid. You know who's also in government? Your local police chief. Your state treasurer. Your congressman and senator. Are all of them also somehow on the hook for comments made by somebody who not only isn't them and works in a completely different agency?

You talk about blinders, yet you're literally trying to spin any story involving the government to be about Trump. That's some serious echo chamber shit. You've completely disregarded the actual story and instead chose to rely on an intentionally misleading headline which conforms to your deeply-held personal biases.
