Pretty sure they will have worn suits for the interviews to become a doctor, or going to see the bank manager to get their first mortgage, or going to a wedding/funeral...

In the South people don't wear suits to weddings

I have legit seen grown ass adults at weddings wearing flip flops, shorts, and t-shirts. I wore a blazer and chinos and people said I was too dressed up.

It is fucking insane.

If you remember my topic yesterday a new dentist told me I needed 6 fillings. To be fair I've only had three professional cleanings in the past 5-6 years or so. But I'm reading online that some dentists are needlessly proactive just to put in fillings and make money off of suckers like me.

I ask because my appointment is in 25 minutes and each filling will cost me $230 out of pocket.

I'm going to ask the dentist if these are all necessary or if we can just monitor them.

I only play $1/$2 blinds though so it's not that expensive. I don't think I would ever do $2/$5.

Just did the math, it would have been $12.16 per paycheck (or $26/month, $313/year). Annual max benefit is $1,000. So instead of paying $1300 out of pocket without insurance, I would have paid $500 with insurance, and by foregoing dental insurance I saved $732 so far.

$1300 vs $1232, to be fair I would have saved an additional $120 on my two cleanings so at best I only lost $200 total from not having insurance.

Suddenly this doesn't hurt that bad.

Holy shit, your dental plan must suck

I opted out of dental insurance

Well that was fucking dumb.

Yeah. Explain yourself TC.

I don't know, from what I remember my company's dental plan didn't make financial sense. FWIW if insurance covered 80% these fillings would have cost me $300. So $300 plus the cost of dental insurance for the past 2.5 years, would I really have saved that much compared to $1,300 out of pocket today?

Keep in mind both of my checkup cleanings were only $60 each, I know they would have been free with insurance though.

tl;dr I gambled and lost, but not too bad. I'll get dental insurance going forward though for the free cleanings

After insurance, my 9 fillings cost me like a grand. It's fucked how expensive it is. Same situation as TC though, I floss, brush twice a day and use listerine mouthwash twice a day. But I moved and didn't get a professional cleaning for like two years.

It sucked because I had to go in twice; left side one day and right side another day. Just a big waste of fucking time.

They gave me the option to do 1 day or 2 days, I figured I'd knock them all out in one day.

Dental hygiene is more genetic than people want to admit so if you got the short end of the stick professional cleanings are your only hope
