"Well, there was one thing. Vegy, you claim you've never been to the victim's home, yet you described it as dingy."

"What, is there something wrong with his choice of adjective?" Unfair scoffs.

"No, it's more the fact that he used an adjective at all. If he's never been to the victim's home, then he shouldn't be able to describe it, let alone call it dingy!"



"Why... you're right!" the judge exclaims.

"Vegy, if you've never been to his home then how are you able to describe it?" you ask.

"Well.... I... I didn't kill him! I swear!" Vegy yells.

How's that, Unfair? Looks like I've still got it!

However, Unfair is unphased. In fact, he looks amused.

"Bravo, Ceman. You've uncovered quite the contradiction," he says.

He chuckles.

"Tell me Mr. Ceman. If the defendant did in fact visit the victim's home, then who is the prime suspect?"

"Now, to seal the deal I have prepared an eye witness who saw the whole thing," Unfair says.

It has been a long time since you were last here. Business has been slow. It seems not many people have been in a need of a lawyer lately. Fortunately for you, you've landed yourself a case. Unfortunately for your client, it's a murder.

My name is Fedora Ceman. I'm an attorney. While I admittedly haven't gotten much work lately, I do have a few cases under my belt.

"Fedora! This is it! They're gonna give me the death penalty I just know it tbh!"

The voice belongs to your client. He's not taking things very well.

This is my client, Vegy. He happens to be an old friend of mine. I've gotten him off the hook once before, but it looks like he has a knack for getting himself into trouble.

"What, you don't trust me? I've saved your bacon before, remember?"

"That was before but dis is different! They have way too much evidence tbh!" Vegy yells.

He's right. The evidence is definitely stacked against him. Still, I have faith that's he innocent, and as long as that's true there's no way I can lose!

The guard then calls for you.

"Mr. Ceman? They're ready for you."

Time to go to work.

The gavel comes down.

"Court is now in session for the trial of Vegy," the judge declares.

"The defense is ready, Your Honor," you reply.

You look to the bench across from you. There you see him, the smug prosecutor you've done battle with before: Unfair Represent. He smirks.

"The prosecution is also ready."

"Very good. I must say, it's been a while since I last saw you, Mr. Ceman. It's good to have you back," the judge says.

"It's good to be back, Your Honor," you reply.

"Now, Prosecutor Unfair, your opening statement please," the judge says.



"Very well. The victim is one CJayC. He was once the admin of GameFAQs, but circumstances led him away from the position. The prosecution asserts that the victim had a prior relationship with the defendant due to this job. The victim was found dead in his home. He had met with the defendant a few hours prior. As the defendant was the last known person to make contact with the victim, he is clearly the prime suspect. As for the cause of death, the victim was struck once with a lamp. Death was instantaneous."

I think removing perma death kinda ruins the entire challenge of the games. Your units are typically stronger than the enemies you're fighting, it's just that you're vastly outnumbered meaning that even your strongest guys can still get overwhelmed. While you may have the stronger fighters, there is strength in numbers. This is why you still have to be strategic in how your position your units and approach battles. Perma death is necessary as a penalty for making a mistake. Removing it means I can just throw caution to the wind and just throw my units at the enemy without a care in the world because they'll ultimately overpower them. Sure I might lose a few, but they'll be back next chapter. Kinda makes me wonder why you're even playing at that point.

Played it when it came out and hated all of the new gimmicks. Hated the spirit trials. Hated Sadamahdi or whatever his name was. Hated that chick who pals around with Nick.

I put the game down after the fourth case because I knew the final one would be more spirit trial bullshit. I'm thinking about starting over fresh. It's been almost two years and I have an Ace Attorney itch so maybe my opinion will change.
