High maintenance dogs for experienced dog owners only. If you get yourself a Border Collie and you don't know what you're doing, the dog will drive you insane.

Far from my experience. We always encouraged our grandpa to keep having Border Collies because he was not a good trainer, and they basically trained themselves.

Of course one of the key factors in getting a Border Collie (or pretty much any large dog) is how much room they have to run. Ours always had an entire farm and a spacious backyard enclosure; I imagine what you say is very true if you put a Border Collie in an apartment / leashed living situation.

Your anecdote seems to fly in the face of almost every reputable source on the issue.

Lol seriously. I've heard that Border Collies nip and have the intense eye stare, and will herd the shit out of anything that moves if obedience and proper training isn't enforced. Never heard of a Border Collie training itself-- that sounds like a recipe for disaster, for like pretty much any dog breed.

Australian Shepherds and Border Collies are about on par for the most intelligent dog, along with the German Shepherd, Poodle (unfortunately) and Golden Retriever. I don't consider the Border Collie the "undisputed" most intelligent, maybe a very small edge or on par with an Aussie. Aussies have a larger capacity of learning, aka they can overall learn more tricks and tasks than a Border Collie.

But yeah, the pup you posted is a brilliant dog and an excellent choice for anyone with the space and willing to provide enough exercise.

I don't know how you are citing, but there's no empirical research Aussies being on par with Border Collies.

Citing Professor of Psychology at UBC, Stanley Coren ranks these dogs as the most intelligent:

Brightest Dogs

Understanding of New Commands: Fewer than 5 repetitions.
Obey First Command: 95% of the time or better.
1. Border Collie
2. Poodle
3. German Shepherd
4. Golden Retriever
5. Doberman Pinscher
6. Shetland Sheepdog
7. Labrador Retriever
8. Papillon
9. Rottweiler
10. Australian Cattle Dog

Also, remember that "Chase", the smartest dog in the world (who can remember 1000+ words) is a purebreed Border Collie.

It's actually the same person. A vote from 120+ vets placed the Aussie and Border Collie both on the top 3.

There's dogs on this list that aren't on your list from the same man, it's an ongoing study and an imperfect science. 9 times out of 10 I see Border Collies and Aussies in just about every top 5 or top 3 list when it comes to intelligence.

http://www.grunge.com/98499/smartest-dog-breeds-world/

Are you mistaking the Australian Cattle Dog with the Shepherd? The Shepherd isn't even in the list you posted in.

Either way, the Aussie Shepherd are genetically similar to the Border Collie, and their physical traits show.

Isaiah 65:21-23, NIV. "They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; My chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them."

Peace will pervade even the animal kingdom. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 65:25, NIV. "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy in all My holy mountain."

The handicapped will be healed. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 35:5-6, NIV. "Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb shout for joy."

God will live with His people and there will be an end to death, crying, and pain. It's in the Bible, Revelation 21:3-4, NIV. "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

TL;DR

You get to be lazy, chill and eat grapes. Watch lions eat straw, and never die.

No guns or shooting? Republicans won't like that

CGI has very little artistic expression.

If you look at the big early (and renaissance) Disney movies and look at the colours, the lines, the expressions and contrasts between different pieces, you can see the artistry that went into the creation of the film. Compare that to something like The Incredibles or Monsters, Inc., which are great films. They just look like computer models that have nothing particularly artistic to them. Talent and honing of the craft went into them for sure. Sully's fur is rightly considered a great achievement. But it doesn't give a glimse into the process of the artist that made it.

I guess if you want to be sappy, my point is that CGI animation lacks soul in comparison to (good) handdrawn animation.

Ratatouille, UP and Zootopia are probably the best animated films of the past decade both artistically and for the writing department, including narrative and themes. I personally loved Tangled as well but being as objective as possible it's not on par with the first 3.

I thought Zootopia had some exceptional display of animated expressions.
