Yeah the linearity is something you'll either like or not. Even if they didn't give those signs the linearity would still do that. 5. 6. and 7. The game has a wide range of difficulties all the way down to like very easy right? All of those issues are changed when you turn it up to Survivor or Grounded. You can't complain that the difficulty level you'd prefer is there, but you have to select it... When I played through it on grounded there were multiple times I simply didn't have ammo or had single digits. With the first bloater fight I completely was out of ammo even after picking up everything in the room so I was having to run into the closest and back out around cover to heal and try to craft molotovs and shit and just barely managed to kill him because I didn't have anything left. Yeah the shotgun makes things fairly easy but on grounded or even Survivor you can't just go running around blasting people with it or you'll run out of ammo for it and when you really need it you won't have it or won't have enough. --- |

It's normal for me to play a bit on whatever the "normal" equivalent is for a game, then adjust it from there if I feel it's too easy or too hard. Even if you can't change it on the fly just for some specific hard level, at least make it changeable between levels or at certain checkpoints so that if you completely some and are like "this is too easy for me" or "this is too hard for me" you can change it. Game difficulties vary so wildly from game to game. There's some games I start on normal and they're so easy I just crank it up to the hardest difficulty right away, while on other games if I went right to the hardest difficulty from the start I'd have a horrible time. Having to just guess what the difficulty of that game is and then being stuck with that choice can be annoying. Some people always play things on a certain difficulty regardless of the game but for someone like me who considers themselves between okay to fairly good at games depending on the genre and exact game, I it's not uncommon for me to raise the difficulty once I get a feel for the game and everything and don't find normal challenge enough and I've played on normal a bit to establish some kind of baseline for what the difficulty level. If I'm stuck with something that's not challenging enough, or something that's too challenging, I'm going to have a bad time. And I don't have enough time for games to begin with to be playing through a few levels, just to start it back over again to adjust the difficulty. --- |
