A server is just a computer. It depends what database and architecture you use. You can set a time to live on an entry that deletes it after a certain time. You can technically write all of it yourself, but it would be a waste of time. Unless it is just for fun/learning.
You can use a hosting service to hold your server like aws or azure. You can also just run it on a computer you have

I do think there are smarter topics every once in a while than back then. Discussions about work or life at a deeper level, people exchanging experiences and perspectives. I think because a good amount of us matured nicely. Like I remember hating pinky back then, but now he is one of the better posters.
A lot of stupid stuff is still here, but I think the good bits have gotten better. When people are considerate and taking care of each other and stuff.

Yes. This year has not been too bad because I have stayed away from a lot of Christmas things. I am always feeling bad, but around Christmas, people expect you to be happy because everything is fun, then I feel bad about feeling bad. And that is worse than just normal feeling bad

What class and difficulty are you doing? I played way too much of the game. I mostly sat on mountains and sniped. Jump out of the car to get last hits because you get a lot less xp when in the car. Wrex + Tali with super shotguns was my go to team. If you are magic, just lift everyone and send those two in
