About halfway through the first season right now.

Really damn good. I'm surprised. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do

season 1 was garb. it gets way better.

Well if I already like season 1 as much as I do, that's great news

Out of curiosity what makes S1 garbage compared to the other seasons? What's different?

IIRC, it's more like 2>1>3.

But it's good all the way through, just relative quality.

Season one lacks two of the best characters in the show which is why it's generally considered to be lower quality.

water bending is awesome and arguably the most powerful type of bending since it can lead to bloodbending

now lets watch an awesome waterbending fight

Season 1 is good, 2 is fantastic, and 3 has its moments that outshine the middling issues with pacing and tweeny melodrama.

Korra is also excellent. 1, 3, and 4 might be the best things Nickelodeon has ever done. 2 was a LOT of missed potential

I just think it's rude in general since what usually happens is someone posts one spoiler, someone else responds, people start discussing spoilers (often not bothering to mark them), and then TC can't come into his own topic.

You're in for a treat, TC, especially if you loved Book 1 that much; as others have said, it's still high-quality television, but Books 2 and 3 take it to another level. I think the biggest factor is that the story never really feels whole without Toph and Azula.

Mhm one scene from an episode I watched yesterday when Zuko and Iroh were staying in that village and the girl shows how her leg was burned in a Fire Nation attack. I love when we see stuff like that. Makes the world feel more real, and raises the stakes a bit.

A friend last night was explaining some of the stuff in Korra for me.

And he was like "Yeah the villains in one season are Equalists, and the villains in another are Anarchists" and I'm thinking "Jeez those are some pretty heavy concepts to unload in a kids show"

Yeah, LoK was definitely designed more for adults and older kids than early TLA was, especially the two seasons of LoK that were online-only (seasons 3 and 4).

I'd say Korra is aimed more at teens rather than kids. It's definitely more mature than the first series.

I thought it was really cool how, apart from Book 2's villain (whom we won't talk about), the villains of LoK each represented a major political movement of the early 20th century: Leninist Communism, Anarchism, and Fascism / Nazism respectively. Which is why I never got why people were disappointed in Amon: he represented the failings and hypocrisies of Communist leadership perfectly.

And yeah, LoK just barely gets away with being kid-friendly at times.

I think people were more disappointed that he didn't come back for season 2. They could have easily had him become a symbol instead of a person, like V and Anonymous.

i never thought about this

really great point

jives beautifully with the neo-industrialization of the world brought about by the fire nation's cooperation with the rest of the world post-war
