As for them being the Metallica of a generation, I don't think so. Metallica was a monster truck of albums for a good few years, Slipknot I personally felt peaked with Iowa.

They've also not really held much influence and always felt like a theatrical gimmick. They were like a more raw version of a Rob Zombie concert. I think the whole "masked band" thing has been done better by Ghost too.
