I think you're just basing this off of Internet and nerd culture and that's because of anime and video games. In real life I've seen plenty of enthusiasts of cultures from all over the world and Japanese enthusiasts are treated the same as any other enthusiasts (weeb is a hardcore Internet term and I haven't seen a single person who isn't extremely socially maladjusted use it irl)
Though I guess Japan does have more technology and products like cars that are exposed to the west.

Maybe, I do think most people under 40--those from the West have a positive or favorable opinion on Japan and Japanese people. Although I assume it gets hazy with Baby Boomers, and especially the Silent Generation. I wouldn't be surprised to see WW2 veterans that served in the Pacific to still hold some prejudice, or hold some anti-Japanese sentiment.

I'm not all that into anime and I don't play games nearly as much as I used to, but I have a penchant for Japanese cinema and the last novel I read was from Japan. They just produce quality art, I guess.

This "art", are there ideas, elements in it that you think are indigenous to Japan?

There are a lot of countries in the world to admire. Iceland. Finland, Netherlands, Switzerland.

But when was the last time you heard of a Swiss fanboy? A Finn-eaboo?

Those are western countries

Finland wasn't always seen as a western country. in fact, Finns were once classified as Mongol descendants.

Finns, as far as I can say, linguistically speak a non-Indo-European language but they're also said to be related to Saami peoples, an indigenous European group.

That's what I'm getting at. Japanese culture, their peoples and society are basically fetishized-- resulting in an embarrassing group of peoples called "weaboos", but we don't see this happening with any other ethnicity, or culture. It's not just anime geeks, nerds and Japanese film enthusiasts, it's regular people who positively attribute Japanese food, architecture, their people, history etc.

Is it just good marketing on the Japanese part? The fact that they've made their country, their people, culture society digestible to foreign, particularly Western peoples because obviously Japan's been increasingly Westernized since Commodore Perry opened "close country"? That's the best idea I have right now.

Y'all ever wonder why so many Japanophiles exist today? Kinda fascinating if you look at history. First you had the Japanese trying to modernize, and become a power by reading Britain and America's imperialist rulebook guide. Then they became too ambitious and formed a coalition with Germany, and ended up humiliating their pride by being humbled to oblivion. Then they reformed by protective tariffs, and McArthur effectively ruled Japan and implemented social, economic and political reforms, and then we got anime.

But what really is it that's made Japan, its culture and peoples; it's imports appeal to Westerners more than China, India, Egypt, Iran, and various countries of Africa?

Is it the love for anime? Is it because they're the most well developed non-Western country? That their cultures mimic and synergize with Western ones so well? Because their peoples bend their knee to the West, instead of fight it (the Middle East)? That they're peaceable people despite their ancient history of a romanticized military class? Could it be their history of a glorified history? Why do we find their TV, film, food more appealing than the rest? Is it increasing Westernization? Or is it what Edward Said called "Orientalism?" and the Western white male's love for Japanese women?

Was it a Sam and Max title?

Looked it up, no.

It had a human character, female with like red hair (I THINK it was red idk). There was a part when some guy was hold up in like vines or poison ivy bush or some shit. Really weird. I think it was an adventure, education/ children's game or something?

I don't think it was a full game that I played, it was a demo. Obviously there's a lot of uncertainty because it was in the early 2000s and I was little kid back then.

That took what, 15 years?

These features didn't exist on most major boards 15 years ago AFAIK.

From personal experience IGN got it around late 2011/ early 2012? and Reddit has had it for several years as well. It's a thing from 2013, 2014 I think.

-Classical Greek and Roman stuff, philosophy, military, politics etc.. Read some ancient Indic texts, Confucian and Legalists stuff as well.
-Sun Tzu's Art of War is a must, as is Niccolo Machiavelli's The Prince
- Adam Smith, Edmund Burke for understanding how modern day conservatism and modern economic system came to be.
-B.H Lidell Hart, J.F.C Fuller, Jomini and Alfred Thayer Mahan's stuff
-Philosophy stuff: Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Rosseau, Neitzche, Hegel, Schopenhauer, John Stuart Mill

Why are weebs always hard right racists?

Because "SJW" is falsely lumped in with liberalism. Weabs love their hentai, and sexualized animu games and tv shows. SJWs are against all of that.

Also Japan is socially pretty conservative, and Japan as a society holds some pretty deeply entrenched conservative values like importance of family and all that jazz. They're also not open to liberal ideas of inclusiveness (for further reading, look up "uchi-soto.")

A classical liberal is a modern day conservative.

Politically, I am a classic British liberal. Temperamentally, I am high in openness, which tilts me to the left, although I am also conscientious, which tilts me to the right. Philosophically I am an individualist, not a collectivist, of the right or the left. Metaphisically, I am an American pragmatist, who has been strongly influenced by the psychoanalytic and clinical thinking of Freud, Jung and the psychotherapists who have followed in their wake.

I believe it was on a demo disc, along with "Tortoise and the Hare." It was a point and click adventure game (I may be remembering it wrong, but it definitely had no action). It featured a woman, possibly with red hair. There's a part with poisonous vines in a forest or something. Then there's a part with a river and some guys fishing? IDK what the point of the game was...probs just an adventure point and click game.

I actually remember finding the name of the game long ago, but can't seem to remember it anymore.

Anyone got some ideas?

There seems to be a ton of Pats fans in England though.

Like, I don't get it. Aren't the Pats supposed to be the last NFL team you'd want to root for if you're English? I mean, look at the team name, the mascot, everything! And your own history! Is it simply because they're the team based closest to England? Or because of Brady? Or are they all just closet history masochists?

I don't know, I don't actually follow the NFL.

New England's ties (the geographical region that is) with Great Britain is over 400 years old so who knows.

As far as the US goes, over here its more about experience and years in the industry.

Going to a school that's widely renowned in an area (say, Harvard law) helps when it comes to connections and sounds great on a resume but for virtually all fields, experience is gonna be key regardless of whichever university you've attended

All of the top 50 universities tend to be inherently better at connecting you with relevant employers aren't they?

I think going to top universities give you a preference over your peers from average universities.
