SEP, which chapter are you on? Im kinda curious which boss youre referring to. Ive had trouble with some bosses but never to the point where I needed certain blades (although its possible I already have the blades thus making the fights manageable).

I didn't need certain blades. That just seems to always be the go-to suggestion the internet gives

I haven't really found a boss I can't beat yet. I just pretty much brute force my way through and it feels like there's probably better ways.

I had a bit of trouble with Giga Rosa, for instance, and people were like "It's cake with a good evasion tank," or "use x if you can't kill the missiles fast enough," etc. But I just ended up ignoring the missiles and killed it with chains, so. >_>

Yeah. It's definitely a gacha mechanic and not really random drop-like at all.

That said, I can admit to speaking a bit too strongly about it. It doesn't ruin the game.

It's just an awful, awful thing.

To be fair, I like grinding in normal RPGs. I usually end up overleveled in almost everything. Battles just take so long in this game that it's much less fun. Granted, apparently it gets better later on.

Pretty much, yeah. It's not so much a problem as... A major annoyance because of how getting them works.

Like, I just power through the battles because whatever, but knowing there's a better way to do it that means I need to do the gacha more makes me a sad pigeonraptor.

Everything outside of the blade gacha is really good, and you technically don't have to get blades past the story ones.

It's just something the game really pushes as new and exciting early on and then you find out the gacha of it is just horrible

That's not quite correct. You can get any Blade from a Common Core, even the rarest Blade in the game. It just isn't particularly likely. Although even with the best Cores don't give you that great a chance at getting that Blade.

Well, yeah, technically you can. But the chance is so small you might as well say you can't.

Nah. Microtransaction loot boxes typically stay in multiplayer games. This is a single player game bringing in the mechanic for pretty much no reason.

Basically, you have your party characters, and those characters have things called Blades that are pretty much their weapons/skills/etc. Each character has certain blades that are best for them.

The problem is that you get these blades from cores. When you use a core, you must first select a character. From that point, only that character can use the blade that comes from that core... But at that time, you have no idea what blade it will be, or even what type. Then, after a lengthy cutscene, you get a blade based purely on RNG/gacha mechanics. If your healer character got an attack blade? Tough, only they can use it, so it's a waste and you gotta try again.

And then there are levels of cores, like "Common" and "Rare." Of course the good blades are in Rare and up, which are tougher to get. And they do not guarantee a rare blade. You can and will most likely still get common crap.

Basically, it's all the worst parts of loot boxes, but in a single player game. And while it's technically "optional," the elements of the blades and such come into play pretty heavily, so unless you want to power level for days on end, you need good blades.

Microtransaction loot boxes are bad, but forcing the mechanic into a single player game manages to be even more infuriating.

How did somebody honestly think this is a good idea.

I keep running into bosses where the suggestion for how to beat them is basically "Have so-and-so use such-and-such. If you don't have it, grind for blades." And it has just completely and utterly sucked the fun and joy out of a game I was otherwise enjoying.

The main takeaway from the USA ratings is that it only has two shows doing "good" right now outside of WWE compared to before. Like, look at the two lists on the link provided. Stuff like White Collar, Psych, Royal Pains, and so on all ran at the same time and all were pulling more viewers than anything but The Sinner today. And then the only other show airing today that's anywhere close is Suits, which is also an old show that built up viewers from the time of White Collar/Psych/etc.

They have less liberty to be choosy when they only have two shows that are doing decent and one's ending soon. It's easy to say "WWE's ratings have dropped more than other shows have," but that's not 100% accurate of the whole picture. There are just plain and simple less shows catching on and becoming hits now, too, which factors into it.

If space is a concern and you're constantly deleting games, that's one place physical tends to be better

I can see this for some folks, that's fair. I personally have a PS4 Pro and have 20ish games installed with more than half of the HDD still free.

There's also nice tricks you can use to make downloading less of a problem if your internet is a bit on the slow side. You can even start a game download on your phone when you're out and about, and the game will be installed and waiting for you when you get home!

Oh, right. I'm not saying physical is better. Both have their perks. I'm just saying that if space is actually an issue, that's one place physical shines.

The HDD space issue seems like a problem but in practice it's very rare, except on like Nintendo consoles with tiny spaces. It was way worse back when consoles only had 80gb or so.

Yeah, this is true enough. It's really only an issue if you play a lot of sports games since those take up a lot of space.

I definitely see the perks of digital overall and have been buying more and more games that way, but I think I'm with Menji on this particular point. I'd rather switch discs a hundred times than have to re-download something. If I delete a game for space, I'm more likely to go back to it if I only have to wait on a quick install and maybe a patch than if I have to redownload the entire thing. If I have to redownload, I often find myself putting in a disc in the meantime and then like 80% of the time never end up touching the game I downloaded
