I'm not a huge caramel guy (I generally avoid it) but there's something about Twix that makes me happy. The crunch, the shape of the bars, the double-pack--there's a lot to like. Ever leave one in your pocket or car and it melts down to base components? Still good, but very strange to handle that bare little graham cracker bone.

Let's talk about Metal Gear Solid 1.

Up until that point I'd never played a game with such a cinematic style. Final Fantasy VII was the closest but that too was really different. Oh man...the game as so many memorable scenes. Sniper Wolf's death was great, the Hind D fight, Cyborg Ninja.... How many times did I play through that as a fourteen year old? Honestly probably a hundred.

The music now is incredibly nostalgic and 'The Best is Yet to Come' is easily the best song in the series.





Remember Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete? I was obsessed with that game for at least a year. I played through it so many times and the story just won me over (even if it is incredibly cliche now and the Working Designs translation is a bit too goofy for me now). The characters were just so likable, damn. And the music! The soundtrack that came with the game was the reason I bought a portable CD player. I listened to that thing on repeat and I still really like it. This shit is so nostalgic I might cry.

And speaking of RPGs...how about that Xenogears!? The soundtrack is top 5 favorite PSOne soundtracks. It's really, really good. So good that I imported it when I was 15 and listened to the fuck out of it. Lost, Broken Shards, June Mermaid, Those Who Bare Their Fangs at God and Flight are my top dawgs but the whole thing is aces.

I do like me a kit-kat. The simplicity of the flavor works in great tandem with the crispy-breaky form of the bar. Snapping off a segment is just as satisfying as eating it and people who eat it like a regular chocolate bar are, without question, psychotic.

There's a huge variety of Kit-kats, too. Americans only have two or three, but Japan and East Asian countries have a boatload of flavors, including Apple, Red Bean, Green Tea and Strawberry (which is fucking amazing).

As a kid I used to break off a piece of that kit-kat bar and dip it into peanut butter. I haven't done that in maybe 20 years now so maybe it's not as good as I remember but I do remember it being tasty. Also there was always the moocher friend who wanted a stick after he or she watched you buy the thing.

I was always like "Fucker, I only have four of these! Get your own!"
