Honestly, I'm kinda glad that they made Kokichi's motive a little less obvious. It starts to become obvious at just about the right moments and you piece everything together instead of being hit over the head with it.

As for the whole "Tsumugi made it up" thing, I don't think the theory is that she made EVERYTHING up. I think some of it's true and some of it isn't. What's what obviously is unknown right now, though.

My point wasnt trying to say there must have been more in the 90s, my point was that it makes sense why you believe what you believe and why people like me and Jakyl may believe what we believe, because different concentrations of tv show types are going to skew things differently. To me, it seemed like the 90s had a lot because I tended to watch a very inclusive channel. You didnt, so it makes sense why you remembered things differently.

For the record, I did spend more time trying to exhaust my lists. They dont grow any because Im not counting cartoons that primarily had animals as the main characters (which discounts stuff like tmnt and street sharks, which mostly balance, anyway) and then Im not counting realityish shows or sports talk shows, which discounts lot of stuff I watch like Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Around the Horn, etc.

Drawing attention to something is the entire point of a protest. That is how protesting works. I mean did you want him to kneel at home?

And that was 100% necessary, instead of protesting by refusing the agreement with the rest of the team? Why must we automatically assume he had completely noble reasons for it? Why is it noble to lie to friends and teammates to specifically kneel, when there are many other things he could have done?

I'm sorry, but I can't agree that somebody has "stones to do something they believed in" when he didn't stand up for it earlier and instead not only agreed with the "We kneel at coin toss, stand at anthem," but then further continued to lie to his teammates leading up to it. EDIT: To me, it's much more admirable if he would have stood up for what he believed in from the beginning. If they had punished him for it, then it'd be even more "No, this is wrong." But him lying just to be able to take a knee makes it tough to have sympathy.

Have you considered that the reason his teammates asked him time and time again during the week is because he stood up and told them this is wrong earlier? He has to lie otherwise he never even makes it to the field and his teammates obviously werent convinced if they had to keep asking him about it.

Why was it so important that he get on the field to protest in the first place if it wasn't for attention, then? There are other ways to protest. So, basically, all you're doing is supporting my assertion that he wanted attention. >_>

Fair enough. It's just odd that he basically made sure he'd be the only one kneeling for... Apparently no reason. Like, what could have possibly been his motivation for lying? To get to kneel in the first place? He had to know lying and then doing it would get him in hot water.

It's just strange.

I mean I definitely get your point. He probably should have told his team mates even at risk of punishment. But I don't think this was about publicity.

How else is a backup quarterback from a Division 3 football team going to get publicity? This got him in the news more than anything he could have possibly done on the field did, didn't it? I'm not saying he was completely for publicity, obviously, but he had to have something motivating him to lie and basically make sure he'd be the only one kneeling. That just seems strange otherwise.
