#30: La Parka

Takes his time dancing his way down to the ring. Steamboat is tossed by M&P!

Remaining: Flair, Ventura, DiBiase, Williams, Parka

M&P go for Flair next, but he's able to reverse Williams out! Williams immediately slides back into the ring and goes for a lariat....but Flair ducks, and Williams knocks out his partner! Parka finally makes it to the ring, where Ventura immediately jumps him and throws him out.

It's down to Flair and Ventura! They go back and forth for a while....but Flair is showing the effects of entering #1....Ventura throws him out!

WINNER: JESSE VENTURA

Errata: In-game, I gave Steamboat Ironman and Flair runnerup. I realized too late that I had Flair booked to last literally the entire Rumble, but I didn't wanna go back and change it. >_>

#20: Jimmy Snuka

Snuka ascends the turnbuckle, then flattens Flair, Steamboat, and Ventura with a big splash! Funk fights back into the ring, only to get socked by Tully. Tully also tosses Edwards.

#21: Razor Ramon

He saunters out to the ring and takes an observational stance in the corner. This offends Steamboat's FIGHTING SPIRIT, and he kicks him over the top. Funk lariats Tully...and they both go over and out! Ventura lays out Flair, but elects to show off instead of going for the elimination.

#22: Mr. T

Holy crap, it's Mr. T! He and Snuka decide to team up, and they clothesline Ventura and Steamboat in succession! Snuka pats T on the back a bit too hard, and T throws him hella far over the top.

#23: Ted DiBiase

Perhaps fooled by the bling, DiBiase sees a kindred spirit in T. He offers a wad of cash to T, and gets a beatdown for his efforts! Flair and Steamboat try to get Ventura over the top.

#24: "Dynamite" Eddie Williams

The other half of Money and Power appears at a most fortuitous time. T stares him down....allowing DiBiase to blindside him for the elimination. Money and Power then attack Flair and Steamboat.

#25: "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan

Duggan HOOOOs his way down the ring, and climbs a turnbuckle to wave a flag...whereupon he is immediately dumped by Ventura! Money and Power are really beating down Flair and Steamboat, but the iron men refuse to go out! Ventura decides to stay out of the way.

#26: Tony Atlas

Atlas fares a bit better against Ventura, but he wants to test his mettle against Williams. DiBiase cheers his man on as they lock up. Ventura takes a few shots at Flair and Steamboat.

#27: King Don Muraco

Rac Bottoms for everybody, until Steamboat is able to hang on and tangle him up. Flair assists with a chop block. Atlas and Williams are at it again, but this time DiBiase helps eject Mr. USA.

#28: Owen Hart

#11: Afa Reigns

Afa socks Flair a few times. Steamboat and Tully do holding pattern spots, while Baba and Tsuruta start getting in offense on Hogan.

#12: Genichiro Tenryu

Tenryu reinforces his All Japan brethren, and Hogan is definitely in trouble against the triple-team. Afa hits Flair with the Superman Punch, sending him out through (not over) the ropes. Steamboat's getting the worse end of the exchange with Tully. Baba, Tsuruta, and Tenryu are able to push Hogan over and out!

#13: Jushin Thunder Liger

This guy is nuts, flying all around the ring and taking it to Tully Blanchard! The All Japan trio decide to target Afa Reigns next. He gets in some licks, but is dissected and ejected all the same. Steamboat and Flair take naps.

#14: Paul Jones

Jones evaluates the situation, and rolls Flair back in. Right then, though, Liger kicks Tully through the ropes! All Japan are impressed by this kid, and offer him a handshake. Liger kicks the hand away, and immediately gets triple-teamed. Jones fights Tully on the outside, and Flair and Steamboat chain wrestle.

#15: Terry Funk

Funk is here, and he has his sights set on All Japan! He lays out Tenryu to save Liger, and then sends Baba and Tsuruta both over the top with a lariat! Jones and Tully find their way back into the ring. Flair and Steamboat are still going.

#16: AKIO Sato

AKIO meets Baba and Tsuruta on the ramp and gets fired up. He dashes in and doubleteams Funk with Tenryu. Liger dives onto Tully....but Tully catches him out of the air, and throws him out! Flair gets the Figure Four on Steamboat, but that's a dumb idea because it gives Jones a free shot on him.

#17: Dory Funk Jr.

Terry is slowing down against AKIO and Tenryu, so the arrival of his brother is a timely one. Jones tries to eliminate Flair, but Flair reverses him out! Steamboat taps Tully on the shoulder instead of sneaking up on him, leading to an even brawl.

#18: Jesse Ventura

The Body bashes Tully and Steamboat's heads together, then turns his attention to Flair. Dory eliminates AKIO, but is in turn eliminated by Tenryu, who is himself tossed by Terry!

#19: Luis Edwards

Funk tries to lariat Edwards out immediately, but the man from the future ducks. Funk goes over, but skins the cat, and the two battle for survival. Flair finds himself in a similar predicament at the hands of Ventura, but Steamboat makes the save.

#1: Ric Flair

#2: Ricky Steamboat

Flair and Steamboat are our first two entrants! After a handshake, they treat us to some good ol' chain wrestling. Neither comes particularly close to elimination.

#3: Tully Blanchard

Tully goes for Flair and knocks him down immediately. Steamboat tries to make the save, but also gets slammed. Tully divides his attention between the faces, keeping both down but eliminating either.

#4: The Iron Sheik

Sheik briefly ponders crossing the dominant Tully, then thinks better of it and slaps the Camel Clutch on Steamboat, leaving Tully to brawl with Flair.

#5: Shawn Michaels

Michaels goes straight for Sheik, and gets in a few hits before the vet is able to create some distance and take control. Sheik backs Michaels onto the ropes and goes for a lariat, but Michaels ducks, sending Sheik over the top! Sheik is able to land on the apron...but catches Sweet Chin Music for the elimination! The youngster celebrates on the second rope...which is a mistake, as Tully notices and tosses him.

#6: Mankind

Nobody's quite sure what to make of this guy. Tully starts stomping on Steamboat, leaving Flair to deal with the newcomer. After an awkward pause, Mankind and Flair start trading blows, which appears to be more the stranger's cup of tea than the Nature Boy's.

#7: Jumbo Tsuruta

All Japan's first entrant decides to go after the biggest guy in the ring: Blanchard. Jumbo and Tully square up and start brawling. Steamboat saves Flair from an elimination predicament, drawing aggro on Mankind.

#8: Bret Hart

Bret breaks up the Jumbo/Tully brawl by going after Jumbo. Tully and Flair go at it again as Mankind and Steamboat feel each other out.

#9: Giant Baba

Baba swats Bret like a fly. Baba and Tsuruta decide to team up on Steamboat, and Mankind is only too happy to oblige. Tully ejects the reeling Bret! Flair gets the upper hand on Mankind.

#10: Hulk Hogan

Friday, Week 4, January 1985

Pre-show: S. Williams d. Rotundo (60)

Tonight 30 men are gonna compete in a grueling test of endurance, but only one man can come out on top. The Nature Boy is gonna show you ONE of the reasons they call him the 60 minute man! (92) Roberts is selling Lawler's attack from last night. Lawler says that's what happens when you cross the King, and now Roberts is going to lose that IC Title! (70) ...Turns out there was an element of playing possum in that sell, as Roberts takes some lumps and then turns the tables on Lawler to retain! (79) Koloff is complaining that he wasn't picked for the Rumble. Reed tells him to stop whining. (35)

Heenan hypes up his boys Style and Substance,(62) but they are defeated by Faces of Fear for the tag titles! (79) Tully Blanchard warms up for the Rumble by beating up Jack Brisco. (68)

Hansen offers Windham the chance to back down now and save himself some humiliation and a beating. Windham slaps the champ! (77) Wild brawl between the two, but the big man comes out on top to retain. (89) Michaels and Sheik continue their mini-feud on the mic. (51)

It's Bruno Sammartino and David Von Erich for DVE's NWA Title! DVE is still feeling that slam onto the concrete a bit, but battles on anyway. The wear starts to show on him, though, and he slows down enough for Bruno to start catching him with some power offense. Sammartino pins DVE in the middle of the ring, winning the NWA Title! (74) He is glad to be back at the top where he belongs. The second age of Sammartino has just begun! (66)

I will need another post or three for the Rumble itself, and might not be able to finish it tonight, but it scored (81). The winner celebrates! (91)

Pre-show: Muraco d. Patterson (66)

Ventura regales us with a song about how he's gonna rock everybody's world at the Rumble! (85) Title pictures collide as Hansen and Bruno take on the Faces of Fear! FoF's tag experience keeps them in the match for a solid showing, but Style and Substance run interference, allowing Bruno to get the win. (66) Razor talks about how he's gonna sit back and let the other 29 guys do the work for him. Steamboat says that's not the path of a warrior. (50) Tully beats La Parka. (70)

Future Perfect are out to the ring. Hennig's still not 100%, but he's gonna be able to compete in the Rumble! And Windham's gonna beat Hansen for him. The future of Wrestlemania is...perfect! [Tag partners colliding for the belt at Mania? Pssh that'd never happen.] (57) Tonight, Windham and DVE are teaming up in a non-title match against Style and Substance. The tag champs fare better than their challengers, successfully taking out DVE on the outside and isolating Windham for a huge win! (74) A rough night for the faces gets worse when Sammartino comes out and slams DVE into the ringside floor! (87) The Funks beat All Japan last night, and All Japan had best pray they get stuck in traffic this weekend! Terry knows All Japan, and knows how to beat them with Dory at his side. They're gonna beat All Japan at the Rumble, and then if Hansen survives that long, they're gonna beat him for the belt! (70)

Duggan and Sheik put on a surprisingly sound match.....Sheik pins Duggan in the middle of the ring! (81) Shawn Michaels comes out and tells Sheik to watch his back in the Rumble, because Michaels is gonna break his heart! (45) We see a montage of Hogan schmoozing with fans and press. HULKAMANIA or something. (83) Our main event is the battle of smark favorites Ric Flair and Eddie Williams! Flair gets the win off botched DiBiase interference. (79) Jake is out to talk about facing Lawler...when Lawler jumps him from behind and beats him down! (59)

One of my faves. I don't know that there's one aspect I would point to as being "standout," but I'd also have a really hard time coming up with anything negative to say- it's just solid across the board. I do like the music, though, and the battle system was cool, especially for the time.
