Like I said in the first post, her statement doesn't necessarily imply that everything in the film will be about race. |

As for your constant mentions of population percentages, I'd like to point out that medieval Europe's population of elves, ogres, and dragons all rested at 0%. If a film happens to have an all white cast, or a mostly white cast, there's nothing particularly wrong with that. But there really isn't a justification for making a stylistic choice that you're going to allow elves, aliens, robots, etc., and disallow diversity. It's kind a moot point since, as others have said, this game seems to hit upon the one area which justifies racial homogeneity: being historically accurate. But you really can't have a Whites Only sign hanging above the entrance to some fantasy world of monsters, maidens, and magicians. |

I see Black Panther as more or less being Marvel's mea culpa for the lack of inclusion in previous films. They did have Nick Cage and Falcon, but that still amounts to a bunch of white superheroes in costumes and two black men with no costumes. (Three black men without costumes if you count Luke Cage.) I don't approve of all the decisions made in Black Panther. I don't like the idea of making a hero out of a separatist and I don't like the idea that Isaac Newton got his information from Wakanda. But there's a difference between having a predominantly black cast to make up for a comparative lack of black actors in previous works and outright stating that you're not going to allow black knights in your Dungeons and Dragons world. |

Loki had potential until the "puny god" scene. There was no reason to do that except to devalue him as a character. I guess that scene demonstrates though why they won't bring a character like Red Skull back. The MCU is entirely about the heroes. The villains are just suitable competition written in a minimalist fashion so as not to risk taking the focus away from the heroes. Loki had personality, so they defeated him in such a manner that made his stock as an adversary plummet. |

He's a fascist and a murderer, sure, but they went absolutely out of their way to distance him from the Nazism of his comic book counterpart. It would be the easiest thing in the world to put him in a different outfit and have him openly state that superiority isn't determined by race, but rather individual potential. He remains a fascist monster, but he doesn't ascribe himself to the prejudices of the Nazis. |

| Skye Reynolds 02/04/18 4:11:57 PM #1 | The way I see it, there are two ways they could do it: 1) His trip to the alternate dimension has given him the ability to revert back to his pre-Skull form at will. He could show up as Johann Schmidt, briefly turn into the Red Skull for a few seconds while delivering his villainous return monologue, and not become the Skull again until it's time to physically fight. 2) If Hugo Weaving doesn't want to go through the makeup process at all, let his features be further distorted by the serum or the trip to the other dimension and have a new actor dawn the makeup. From what I've seen, he's the best MCU villain by far. It's such a shame to let him be a one-off. This would be like if there were 20+ DC movies, but the Joker died in the first Batman film and stayed dead. |
