We are not living in ordinary times, and it is not enough for us to admire our nations core values from afar. Our countrys history is littered with individuals and factions who have tried to exploit our imperfections, but it is more powerfully marked by those whose vigilance toward a more perfect union has prevailed.

Peace___Frog

You are a few weeks too late, Comrade Alien. Learning more about the American custom of thanksgiving will be of little assistance to you at this point in time. I'm told that many of these humans are currently preparing for a holiday called "Christmas". They dream of white ones, since they believe their savior was also white. You'll recall that one of the first of us to visit this planet chose a random brown male on the other side of the planet to be a "savior", so I'm not sure why these humans are so concerned with him. Regardless, please note that if you overhear some of these Americans discussing a war on the upcoming holy day, they do not mean it literally. All you must do to fit in with their customs is wear red and green, pretend to be cold when you touch the white precipitation that falls from the sky, and eat cooked pig. Uproot a nearby tree and put it in your living quarters and put shiny plastic balls on the branches. That way, you can invite humans into your house and they won't suspect a thing before you probe them.

The same amount of money is. That's the entire premise of the time value of money. Of course if you change the actual amounts that's different. But unless someone explicitly says that, it should be assumed the same amount is what's meant.

And you're assuming that the amounts lost by income taxes today would be equivalent to amounts "lost" by inflation in the future why?

Ok good. So why are you stating, unequivocally, that money is worth more today than tomorrow? By that logic, every business ever should care about maximizing short term profit and ignore long term financials.

AL - In final-hour order, court rules that Alabama can destroy digital voting records after all

At 1:36 p.m. Monday, a Montgomery County Circuit Court judge issued an order directing Alabama election officials to preserve all digital ballot images created at polling places across the state today.

But at 4:32 p.m. Monday, attorneys for Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill and Ed Packard, the state administrator of elections, filed an "emergency motion to stay" that order, which the state Supreme Court granted minutes after Merrill and Packard's motion was filed.

By granting the stay, the court effectively told the state that it does not in fact have to preserve the digital ballot images - essentially digitized versions of the paper ballots voters fill out at the voting booth - created today.

The court will hold a hearing on Dec. 21 about whether to dismiss the case outright. By that point the state will have had ample time to destroy the digital ballot images legally under the stay.
