Pot has bad side effects. Just like alcohol and tobacco. The fact that all three of these are detrimental when used excessively is not why two are legal and one isn't. So again legality is immaterial because the US government doesn't care about your health.

especially when the evidence is so slim that one of them is actually bad for you, I agree

thanosibe posted...
And if pot is legal federally it is doesn't mean that it is not detrimental in excessive uses. People are falsely correlating the two together as if they go hand in hand because, based on my observations, many pot smokers refuse to acknowledge any negative thing about their drug of choice.

nothing itt has shown pot is bad for you, though. the linkages between blood flow and alzheimer's aren't just unconfirmed, they are unestablished. the actual data in the study is fine, the way everyone is reporting it is what is wrong

probably the best way to show pot is bad for you is to make it legal so there are larger samples of people using it.

for instance, notice how this study doesn't actually prove any detrimental impacts from smoking pot but we're discussing it as though it does

COVxy posted...
The primary issue with this reporting is that reduced hippocampal perfusion is not at all surprising given the previous results that show decreases in hippocampal volume, as you would expect that a region with less metabolic need would show less perfusion (neurovasular coupling, as it's referred to). This is more or less a reiteration of previous results.

anyone itt who is talking about pot smokers deflecting to alcohol without also pointing out the obvious bias in OP's discussion of the results is kind of being a total shill

The legality of it has absolutely zero to do with the what affect the drug has on people. We should have all learned that when tobacco was linked to cancer and it's still legal. People only bring up alcohol is bad to try and deflect from any indication that pot as a recreational drug can have bad side effects that can be detrimental to a person.

only when said detrimental affects are used as a rhetorical device to show why pot shouldn't be legal

I think level scaling enemies is much better than the alternative, particularly when they are in a range rather than scaling with you 1:1 which is how FO4 handles it. And it's sort of the same situation with randomized loot, there are unique spawns in some areas but I prefer that be the exception rather than the rule

It's just that "difference of opinion" happens to be the left thinks people should be able to afford healthcare and to not get sick and die in a ditch penniless, while the right does not.

I don't know that there's a difference of opinion so much as a difference in priority. Conservatives believe liberal proposals like single-payer will make healthcare far more costly for most people, which would lead to things like shortages, selective treatment (i.e., 'death panels') or long wait times -- thus harming peoples ability to get medically necessary care

those happen to be valid concerns, btw

And those countries were never that violent to begin with, at least not compared to the U.S. Those countries don't have demographics that are nearly as diverse nor do they deal with inner cities violence on the scale of Chicago, Saint Louis, or L.A. There are far too many variables at work to narrow it down to something as simple as "guns".

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/background-checks/

The best evidence comes from Missouri, which in 2007 repealed a decades-old law requiring background checks for all gun purchases. A 2013 study from researchers at Johns Hopkins found that the repeal led to a 23 percent increase in gun homicide, the equivalent of 55 to 63 additional gun deaths per year. (Non-gun homicides, which shouldnt have been as affected by the law, didnt increase.)
