Yeah I wasn't really farming them before this point because I thought Mona Lisa was further out so I only came in with like 320 Mana Prisms. I'm up to 450 now after spending a bunch on those grab bags (and wasting all of Saturday grinding the Assassin Stage because I wanted Kojirou to be 10/10/10) so I'm making decent progress. If the Christmas Event is as generous with prisms as it is said to be I should be okay for 5000 with maybe a little bit of work late.

Well you get 288 AP per day. If you want to absolutely max out your prism output you do one run of the 40 (20) AP stage first, for 9 EXP Cards + 4 Prisms.

Now on 1/2 AP day that leaves you very close to 18 runs of the 30 (15) stage, which will give you 3 on the first run, and an average of 8 per run on top of that.

So you get like 160 Prisms if you're grinding that all day on these half AP days and not missing any AP.

Now personally what I'm doing as a compromise is.

- One run of each of the max difficulty stages for base of 12 prisms
- All the rest of the AP on the 15 AP Stage

Banking the gold EXP cards, burning the silver EXP cards. You only get about 5 per run of the 30(15) stage when you do that, so I'm getting more like 90 Prisms a day but I'm also getting EXP and some limited QP and class materials. Obviously if you wanted a reasonable estimate of these schemes on non half AP days just half all the Prism amounts but I don't intend to grind it on non half AP unless I'm close to the goal of 5000 Prisms and you shouldn't either.

It's easy but it takes like 5-10 minutes every 5 hours if you're doing it because of the load times, watching all the animations, etc etc. I mean granted you don't have to watch all the animations it's more of a half investment-- but then you're probably veering towards closer to the 10 minute mark because you're just sorta mindlessly clicking without looking at the screen and so you've got a lot of wasted time there.

This game is full of little nickel and dime investments. It actually adds up to quite a bit despite a lot of it seeming pretty minor at a glance just because there are so damn many of them to juggle. Really high maintenance game.

Monitor looks like good value for $99. Might get two of em and go 27 inches for my side monitors. I will say the percentage on that deal is a bit of a mirage because you can actually find em on Amazon for $150 base price (on sale for $130 currently) but I mean $99 27 inch monitor is $99 27 inch monitor. Although it does add a bit if I use it as a side monitor cause I'll need to get at least one DisplayPort to HDMI converter since it doesn't have a display port hookup and my video card only has one HDMI Output (+3 DisplayPort +1 DVI)

Might regret it as I'm sure it'll probably go out of stock and I won't see anything better and I'll be left with nothing, but I'm going to stay patient on this one till I see a bit more of the actual on Friday deals. Definitely in the lead for the side monitors though. Thanks for looking out.

Alright I mean I can buy that. Moore is a prominent political figure so you (and frankly, I) already had some suspicions going in so you could've pre-emptively done some research. He's not really a great example here, but was the most clear example of something to gain.

Let's go with a different one that I had some interest in, Charlie Rose.

How much reading have you done into that case?
What do you know about the accusers?
What do you know about Charlie Rose?

Let's hypothetically say that Charlie Rose wasn't a predator as much as an asshole to his employees-- which the stories will actually support as well. Let's observe that these women coming forward no longer work for him. Is it possible they wanted to tear the guy down because they just got in a mood, or that he caused some damage to their careers, or whatever else?

Maybe.

The sniff test as you describe it in this case, it's impossible to trigger unless you were already a big follower of Charlie Rose, because it takes digging to even find a reason to trigger it. But does the necessity for digging mean that it's not there?

That's kinda where it starts to come apart. There should always be a compulsion to dig. We shouldn't assume someone is lying, but we also shouldn't assume they're telling the truth because they have "nothing to gain" because inherently to know if there's something to gain you often need to dig.

The message is 9 legitimate accusations shouldn't have you assuming the 10th is legitimate by default. Keep in mind you shouldn't assume illegitimacy either, but if we progress beyond the need to gather facts it starts to go further and further into plea bargain territory. That's my fear.

Basically it's important that we start at 0 with these accusations and go from there. It was like 50 in favor of the accused before-- if we flip it to 50 in favor of the accuser that's arguably even worse.

Depends entirely on the situation and the individual. More and more pressure building up in favor of the accused makes these things less credible-- remember how you guys were harping on how plea bargains were crap and led to the innocent admitting to crimes they didn't commit? At a certain critical mass in society these accusations will start to become basically the same thing and we have to start taking the apologies and guilt admissions with some salt.

And I suspect it already has for some. For instance I don't take it as proof in the case of Charlie Rose for reasons already given. Someone in closer to the prime of their career who isn't one to make diplomatic concessions? Yeah, that's proof there, at the moment, but if we veer further and further it becomes less proof and more of a plea bargain.

Like if you want an example of what I highly suspect was a witch hunt case, there was the story of that accusation against the IGN guy posted a few days ago, where the girl listed one of the reasons that a guy was overstepping his bounds by "asking her work related questions in person."

That wasn't the extent of his offenses to her, but her interpreting that as something that is a problem, combined with the fact that by her own account all her actions went through HR casts some initial doubt on which side was really being the weird one there. Add upon that that all is conclusively known as fact is that the guy was friendly to her, the girl never voiced any issue to him directly, and that HR found no actionable offenses.

But even in that, it's just her word against his, so if you want to side with her and make HR out to be incompetent, it's very easy to do so. In this case, the guy was friendly with the girl is all you've got on the side of hard facts, and then it's up to you to interpret the nature of that. Similarly to how the hard facts are that people are sick, and it's up to the people of Salem to interpret why.

Definitely not all fake, or even mostly fake, but I do think it's important to not go too far down the road of just believing by default. The stigma of coming out and sharing these stories should be removed, and I think we're closer to that point than not right now, but if you go beyond that it starts to become closer and closer to a witch hunt.

If you really want to unpack the Salem Witch Hunt comparison.

It's kinda impossible to prove the allegations are outright fake because the burden of proof tends to be on the accused in the current climate. There's also the whole issue of what exactly determines if something is fake. For instance even the Salem Witch Hunts were rooted in reality in a lot of ways with the premises, it's just the conclusions were incorrect. Like while it's clearly not true there was actual witchery going on, people who'd been bewitched were sick or whatever else.

Similarly, for so called sexual "predators" we can assume that the stories aren't fabricated outright, but finding the boundary between what is being friendly, what's being inappropriate, what are overreactions and what could have been resolved amicably with no burden whatsoever on the woman, all that is a lot more sketchy and skewed heavily in the favor of the accuser right now.

Basically the only thing necessary for the current climate to be equivalent to a witch hunt is to make the standard for what's considered harassment sufficiently low. Is that the case right now? Not necessarily. But I don't exactly think "call me when any turn out to be fake" is a fair counterpoint at the moment either, cause it'll probably take an outright fabrication against a man who's basically completely chaste to have a conclusive example of it 100% being fake, and it's going to take some building to get to that point if it ever gets there.

I'm kinda upset Charlie Rose's case was resolved so quickly. To me the whole incident has the feel of a 75 year old man at the twilight of his career, who knows there's some degree of truth to the allegations, but doesn't find it worth his time to fight given the current social climate and is purely in a damage control mode. And meanwhile CBS has no real interest in putting a legitimate attempt at an investigation since it would almost be bad PR to humor Charlie's side by default, and he was probably out in the next few years anyway.

I'm not saying it was necessarily outright bogus but the swift resolution of it all means we're probably not going to get a lot more information on that so ultimately there won't be any conclusive idea of how much of the claims are hyperbolic reactions to a man who may have been a bit more forward than he should have been with women, fueled by the current social climate, and how much of the claims are completely grounded, with the guy actually being a scum bag. I've read into all the stuff I can find that exists, and I'd be surprised if there was a lot more released since all sides seemed to have dropped it.

I've always been a fan of Charlie Rose and thought he came off as a pretty respectable dude so it kinda hits close to home. Also sucks that PBS is canning the show.
