hungary is also like a quarter of what it used to be. austria fell from being the dominant germanic power to just some country in the alps, etc

Britain is still a huge cultural force, and still stands as a pretty major power. Plus, Britian's decolonization began not that long ago, 1945. Britain definitely peaked during the 19th century to early 20th century, but they haven't fallen that hard.
Hungary is a good case, but Austria is not really because Austria is still a top tier country to live in in terms of quality of life, livability, civil liberties etc.

Haven't seen it but I thought Marvel's The Avengers, Ironman, Captain America: Civil War, Thor: Dark World were the top tier, followed by Ant-Man and Doctor Strange. Care less about the rest.

The banning of slavery was followed by Jim Crow and the start of the KKK. Affirmative Action benefits white women more than any other group.

The fact that they had to ban slavery by fighting a war in itself tells you enough. Banning slavery never curbed white supremacy, it lives on today, but to a much, much lesser extent thanks to the events that unfolded in the 60s.

That was one little instance of white supremacy that blew the hell out of proportion due to various circumstances and causes that is too complex to discuss right now. In fact, Germany was more accepting of Jews in the latter half of the 19th century than Russians. Other than that the United States was born out of the idea that all men should be free, specifically ALL WHITE MEN: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness", but this idea did not extent to African-Americans as we all know. It took the U.S 32 more years to abolish slavery when the U.K did it in 1833. An entire war was fought to keep the Southern states to unite with the North because the South wanted to allow and expand slavery, and keep a balance of power of Southern, slave-owning states. It took up until the 1960s for Civil Rights movement to end segregation and other forms of institutionalized racism. Yeah the U.S has a deeper history of white supremacy, and racism more than any other.

Sure they've come a long ways from that birth, thanks to great, progressive men and various events that helped push these old and tired racist beliefs out.

depending on the study you want to believe in the rough median is estimated at 300k defensive gun uses per year. low estimates are around 60k and high are well over 2million.

as far as more violent, take your pick. lots of poverty, homelessness issues. lots of gang involvements, drug wars. intercity problems. large gap of social standings, lack of easy healthcare, large gap of political divides (which is turning violent) and racial issues at a large scale. we also share a border with mexico which is 2x more violent even factoring in the US' gun crime. its a melting pot of shit with guns as the seasoning.

Well that's a bummer. Really glad I don't live in the United States.
