I think people like to use to sound smarter when discussing video games.

But I hate it because of how obnoxious it is as a concept. To me its going out of your way to quantify gameplay, talking about it by the numbers boiling it down to the sum of its parts, rather than what it is as a total experience.

Its the difference beteeen saying The Witcher 3 opens up to you a massive world full of interesting lore, and theres so much to see and uncover that youll get lost in it for hours

And

You around fighting monsters and doing quests.

And some people wonder why games dont hold their attention for very long anymore. Because youre looking for any reason to take yourself out of it, stupid.
