My wife said that having shrimp in the tank helped keep the snails alive for some reason, something to do with keeping the tank clean. She said ghost shrimp, while cool, are kinda fucked up though because they are super hard to find when you're cleaning the tank.

She also said the golden snails are easier to identify as dead than the black ones, because the golden ones will turn brownish.

My wife's favorite animal is snail.

We tried keeping apple snails about 10 years ago. They just kept dying, reproducing like crazy, then dying. The PH levels and temperature in the tank had to be so fucking specific and it was basically impossible to not wake up to 50 tiny snails.

Oddly, we've only seen snails in the wild ONCE, while on vacation in the hills of West Virginia. We lost our fucking minds.

Last time I went to Best Buy, the CD section was only about 10 feet anyway and was only New Releases and Best Sellers.
