And that's different from politics, how?

??? I'm comparing it to the healthcare system.

lol this is true. If you just keep to yourself, the townsfolk will just make up shit about you whereas in the city its just like' yep that's just who he is'.

I'll slightly disagree. I don't think it's that city people are necessarily more accepting. It's that if I have an altercation with my neighbor, the whole city doesn't find out about it.

As someone who grew up in a small rural town and now lives in a reasonably sized city, I would disagree. I think it's along the lines of what @pinky0926 is saying. In a small rural town, you "know" everyone so it appears like everyone is friendly to their neighbors, but anyone who is somewhat abnormal essentially gets ostracized.

Whereas where I live in the city now, I barely know any of the people on my block, but I also don't have much animus towards any of them.

This sort of thing:

https://nondoc.com/2015/10/06/anti-intellectualism-rises-on-the-left/

Note this site is clearly very left-leaning.

being a liberal, in the true sense, is being nondoctrinaire, nondogmatic, non-committed to a cause but examining each case on its merits I think most newspapermen by definition have to be liberal; if theyre not liberal, by my definition of it, then they can hardly be good newspapermen. If theyre preordained dogmatists for a cause, then they cant be very good journalists; that is, if they carry it into their journalism.

I sort of disagree with that being anti-intellectualism (even if I agree that it's a problem), but I'll accept that as the working definition for the sake of this topic.

Thanks to the Rams and Chargers being here I've taken up watching way way more college games on Saturday. Usually I just watched USC. And honestly it's been like an epiphany. There's no political kneeling bs. There's bigger plays. There's not the talking heads bemoaning concussion drama. No flags left and right for damn minor everything. It's football. Like, it's real football. Remember when the NFL use to be that? I get about 30 games across a dozen channels from morning to midnight.

Like the Cowboys game coming out in a bit here. They're not my team but normally I would watch MNF like always. But after yesterday. Already seeing the talk that there's protests planned by some players tonight. Which means hearing the political bs. Close ups of these fuckers kneeling. I'm don't want to see it. I'm done. When the owners grow a pair, when they put a stop to this bs. Then I'll watch.

What irony?

There's no irony in not pay for a service he isn't likely to need, nor is there any irony in asking people to voluntarily donate funds when that need happened anyway.

Yeah, it's not irony. More like poetic justice.

isn't it ironic also? like if it were in a story and a character said they didnt want to have to get something they didnt need, and then later they were asking for it because they needed it, wouldn't we call that ironic?

I didnt pay attention in high school english so Im not sure what literary device that is but Im sure it is something

I think cosmic irony applies.

If we knew at the beginning that he was going to get in a car crash, it would be dramatic irony.

Right and kneeling on the grass is a step forwards. Swear this is the generation of Instagram activism. It's not like these players are doing a REAL protest like Muhammad Ali in the 60s who actually sacrificed his career over the immoral war in Vietnam.

f***ing hacks. Tired of these halfway crooks who try to claim to be with the "struggle" but keep catching the balls and collecting the checks from their masters.

What would be strong is if instead of kneeling for a song and then going to play the game anyway, black players formed their own NFL and pretty much took over. Black teams, black coaches, black owners. Take all the talent from the NFL and just form our own league owned by us and force the media and corporations to fall in line with the talent and the big names.

This is an incredibly naive suggestion.

Why?

It's obviously not easy to form your own league, even if you have the star players going along with it. Are there a lot of wealthy black people who are just waiting to invest a large amount of money into a protest league? Can you fill a league with just black coaches with NFL experience? Are all of those players going to take huge pay cuts to play in a segregated league?

It just seems like it would be a step backwards, not forwards.

Were they marked with the "[C]" symbol to convey classified information, like the emails Hillary destroyed?

How do you know what they said if they were destroyed?

It's even more complicated. As those emails were being reviewed, different intelligence agencies had differing opinions on what should or shouldn't be classified based on how they got the information.

If you were a more secretive intel agency, any information you received from a sensitive and protected source would be classified to protect the identity of the informant. If another less secretive agency were to independently acquire the same information in the course of an investigation that didn't potentially compromise an asset, they would rightfully leave them unclassified. In the case of Clinton's emails, the emails being contained information that had the feuding intelligence agencies retroactively classifying or declassifying documents because they disagreed with how the other agency was handling their information.

TLDR: Some of those items were well-circulated well before the investigation got their content reviewed and some of these agencies decided they should be privileged information.

This apparently comes up a lot anytime a former intelligence agent or high-level state official writes a memoir and wants to include a memo or letter. There have been attempts (or just gut reactions, really) to reclassify letters and memos years after they'd already been published to the general public.

There are serious communication issues here. Thing is, that's kind of by design.

Right, I know that some things are classified in some sources after being published unclassified in others.

There's also the fact that some of the emails in question were improperly classified, in that they contained classified information but didn't properly add the classification banners at the top and bottom of the email.
