Then they'd have 100 people in charge of preparations instead.

And you have to coordinate those 100 people to meet the needs of 400?

All worthy discussions. How many people are you willing to sacrifice to protect each amendment? Is there an amount if gun deaths let year that would cause you to at least soften your stance on the 2nd amendment? Is 100k gun deaths a year too many? 500k? 1 million?

You're throwing around some pretty bogus numbers.

There's currently being around 8k gun-related homicides per year. Obviously, if that number were to multiply itself 100x, then yes, it'd be a bigger issue.

Right now about half of those gun-related homicides are coming from gang activities, who are already obtaining and carrying guns illegally, and will continue to carry illegally even if laws are tightened up.

You'd decrease gun deaths by a lot more by breaking up gangs and increasing social welfare in desperate inner city zones than you would by trying to ban guns.

Society is fine. We live in safe times. Schools are a safe place.

There are 300+ million people in the US. As the population grows, so too does the amount of overall good and bad things happening (all things equal). People like to focus on the negative, so that's what the media delivers.

But, the media doesn't deliver perspective. For example, if violent crime and homicides are at an all time low, they won't mention that...but if they can say it's the 4th school shooting in 5 months, they will because of how much people love negativity.

Except that school shootings happen almost exclusively in America.

That's because most other first world countries with significant population density have banned guns. Teenagers can't shoot up their school if they can't get a gun.

If you separate from the issue a bit and actually look at what he's talking about, he has a point.

Politics are not about providing what's best for the people.

Politics are an ongoing war between two sides where one side pushes for one radical extreme, and the other side pushes for the other, when neither of these radical extremes are actually good for the people.

This causes the politicians to fight ANYTHING, no matter how reasonable.

It's like when you take a bill to the republicans saying, "we should have better background checks for guns" and they throw it back in their face.

They're not against better background checks for guns, they're against what comes after that.

Note: I'm not saying this behavior is OK, just that it's symptomatic of a bigger problem. All the politicians do it, this guy was just brave/stupid enough to say he was doing it.

After putting in some hours, I enjoy most of the new content overall, but the new mechanics don't really have any impact on the game.

This is the feeling I'm getting as well.

At first I thought they were neat. The ages thing was pretty awesome looking at first. But it becomes pretty meh after a while, and isn't really adding much.

Governors add some micromanagement.

City flipping just changes the conquering and settling where you can't conquer away from where your empire is without your cities flipping.

And I didn't even get an emergency in like 6-8 hours of play so far.

These systems all just sort of blend into nothingness.

What I don't understand is at what point did simply moderating your channel become too much?

It used to be that if you didn't get along with a streamer, you could get banned from that channel. Now they just ban you from all of Twitch.

There's a lot of diverse groups of people in the world but now Twitch wants to moderate them all on their own, rather than just allow people to separate and create their own communities that they moderate for themselves.
