Her mom came by after about 5 mins (I guess she'd been off down the walking trail) and acted like I was insane for not maintaining a minimum distance from her child and ignoring the fact the kid was lying on the pavement crying her face off. She didn't call me a pedo but it sure seemed implied. Definitely true. Having some music or decent talk radio or a podcast going is so much better than just the sounds of silence / equipment running. Edit-this also applies to my job under the right circumstances though. Hence the equipment. If you're using a hammer drill you can't really listen to much but sometimes a job site is relatively quiet. But a carpenter running a site has to grasp everything the architect and engineer wants and be able to make it happen practically and physically. Architects I'd call 85% white collar. Any pipeline welder will make a lot more. Boilermakers can make a mint. The average office worker makes way less than 6 figures...
