used to have this problem delivering newspapers. usually drunks with no way to get home would literally just open one of the doors and sit in my car while I was delivering to some houses.

came back to my car once to a guy who was slowly freezing to death holding a half eaten donut in one hand and a box of donuts in the other. he was trying to get into the back seat but couldn't figure out how to get passed the wall of newspapers. I kept showing him the large 7-Eleven sign less than a half-block away but I'm not sure he got it. (maybe drunks can't seek refuge at 7-Eleven since they're drunk?)

once a semi-hot girl (she kind of stunk though) just up and sat in my passenger seat (on top of my 'active pile' of papers). it sounded like she wanted me to take her halfway across the city. I think she eventually made up a fake address to take her to (3333 33ST?), but it turned out that address actually existed on my route, so I took her there and dropped her off (maybe it wasn't made up and she did actually live there, I'll never know). (looking up the address... I don't think I actually left her in the right place, if that was a real address. oh well. that was like 15 years ago.)

evolution is just a design process. it leads to designs in a sort of automatic way, but the designs it leads to are not necessarily optimal. intelligently designed systems are usually a lot better, because they can identify important problems early and avoid them.

you mention eyes, but human eyes are wired *backwards* and evolution just worked around the problem in a ridiculous way. similarly, there is a nerve that loops from the neck, down around the heart, and back up. this wasn't a problem when hearts were in the neck, but it sure is now. in giraffes this is especially ridiculous.

as for complexity, the human brain is arguably the most "complex" thing known in the universe, and no, we haven't really made anything that complex, yet.

How the hell could you think 3-4 is high?

if I have 4 cups of coffee in a day, I might go twice at work. if I have 1-2 cups, I might not need to go at all at work.

then at home, I go once in the morning, once in the evening. (I think... not like I keep track though.)

I figured the needing to go so much at work was caused by the coffee (diuretic), so I figure a "normal" day would be going once in the morning, once in the evening, with maybe 1 extra time every now and then.

but 11 votes for 9+ times... I don't get that. you go MORE than twice in the morning, 4 times at work, and twice in the evening??? 9 times is once every 1 3/4 waking hours. you can't even sit through a movie without needing to go at least once? maybe that might make sense for someone obese, diabetic, and/or elderly.

apparently they're in < i > elements, which is supposed to be italic. apparently this is common practice on large websites to minimize bandwidth consumption by using short tags

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/11135261/should-i-use-i-tag-for-icons-instead-of-span

as for why they're disappearing for you, I have no idea, but I'd inspect the page if I could with them missing and check the CSS, and see if the i tag is even there, etc.

maybe you have some kind of adblocker or similar addon which is blocking the images from downloading? look for warnings/errors in the console on the debugging window.

If that means just that the strength of items is denoted by color, the earliest game with that basic concept I've played is Might and Magic III from 1991, where what the item is made of detemines its strength -- wooden<leather<brass<bronze<iron etc.

I guess it's close, but really that's more like a prefix system. this would be if an iron cuirass could be a common/rare/epic iron cuirass. tiers are like an item-wide % improvement. prefixes are more of a straight +X Stat increase which is what you get in M&M3.

I legitimately have no clue what to do.

what are your actual symptoms beyond just "only let you use the first controllers you plug in"

some blind guesses:
- you've lost write access to the config file, so reconfiguring the controls just keeps failing. not likely, but not impossible.
- you're pressing start or A on one controller before the other
- or similarly you have them both connected at the same time and one is overriding the other

a general guideline that games often use (and some games are obligated to use) is that there should be a 'start' screen, and whichever control device you activate from the start screen determines which one the game will use (more true of console games maybe, where PC games might just use an options screen).

Assuming you've providing this information as being proven and known by the court, it would depend on an analysis of the drug they spiked his drink with. Are the effects of the drug usually extreme? "Lowered inhibitions" can be as mild as alcohol or as extreme as bath salts.

If the response is typically mild, they'd both be guilty although the drugged man should get a less serious sentence than usual. If the response is typically extreme, then the drugged man is legally innocent and friends are legally responsible for not only the drugging but also the crimes committed by the drugged man.

this, said way better than I could

For starters, conscientiousness is a more important niceness marker than either compassion or politeness

what? no, conscientiousness is about how hard you work and how neat you are. I mean, how can you even say that something could be a more important "niceness" marker than politeness? someone really high in conscientiousness and low in agreeableness (compassion/politeness) makes a great "firing" person, for example. they relish the chance to fire people and do it thankfully.

First, that's based on one survey

no, as the paper says: "Replicating previous findings there was a significant gender difference in Agreeableness". this is not new, it's well established that women are higher in agreeableness than men. (it's why most nurses are women, for one thing. lots of other examples like that.)

That's...not how statistics work though.

It's an interesting point and certainly COULD be an accurate portrayal, but you could also have an instance where men are more likely to be jerks in general, yet where all attractive men are polite and compassionate while only half of attractive women are.

women are more likely to be agreeable than men. given two people, one a woman one a man, the woman is more likely to be agreeable than the man, period.

you're basically saying there could be some unknown property that's correlated even stronger than gender but in the opposite direction. maybe, but you can't just pull one out of your ass and assert that it exists. if you can demonstrate such a thing, then demonstrate it.

but even if you could, it's still going to be the case that if you guess the woman to be the more agreeable person then ~60+% of the time you'd be right.
